Gertrude Bradley

Mrs. Gertrude Bradley, 86, of Walnut Hill,  died Friday, July 15, 2011, at a Pensacola hospital.

She was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Walnut Hill  for most of her life. She was retired from the Escambia Co. (Fla.) Board of Education and a member of the House of Prayer in Walnut Hill.

She is survived by three daughters, Willodean Knighten of Pensacola, Annette (Alfred) Williams of Walnut Hill,  and Bobbie (Johnny) Longmire of Chicago, IL; three sons, Alvin (Yvone) Bradley and Glenn Bradley, of Walnut Hill,  and James (Debra) Bradley of Chicago, IL; one brother, Aubrey Daughtry of Monterey, CA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the house of Prayer in Walnut Hill with the Rev. Darryl North, eulogist and the Rev. Fountain, host pastor. Retirement of her remains will be in the Williams Cemetery in Quintette with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC directing.

Public viewing will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bradley Grant Winch

Bradley Grant Winch, age 35, was born in Wauseon, OH, on October 10, 1975. He lived in Florida for 26 years until he died at home in Cantonment on July 15, 2011. He never gave up hope when he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. His long and courageous fight with admirable strength was an inspiration to all his friends and family.

Bradley graduated from Zephyrhills High School in 1994 before beginning his career in excavating. He enjoyed tinkering with his antique John Deere tractors.

He leaves his memories to his loving wife, Kathy; his daughter Megan; his son Matthew; his granddaughter Jocelynn; along with his mother Cynthia Armstrong; granddad Fred Armstrong; grandma Sandy Armstrong; sister Crystal W inch; brother Brian W inch; his favorite Aunt Lisa and many friends.

The family is thankful for the amazing care he received from Covenant Hospice under the care of Dr. James Smith and his loving and caring nurse, Stacey. We also give a continuous thank you to all the continuous care nurses that helped Brad through this rough time.

Gilliam E. Webb, Jr.

Gilliam E. Webb, Jr., 52 of Walnut Hill,  formerly of Nolensville, TN,  died July 14, 2011.

His father, Gilliam E. Webb, Sr. preceded him in death.

He worked in the concrete business for 31 years in Atmore and served as president and vice president of Alabama Onsite Wastewater Association. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kathy Webb; sons, Gilliam E. Webb, III and James Wesley Webb; mother, Carol Ann Webb; sister, Cindy (Hal) Lancaster; and brother, Eric (Faith) Webb.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, Nashville, TN, with the Rev. Jim Norton officiating. Interment was held in Nolensville Cemetery. Visitation was  held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home Hickory Chapel.

Active pallbearers were Eric Webb, Hal Lancaster, Ernie Bryant, Hal Lancaster, Jr., Ryan Lancaster, Bill Bryant, Clifford Bryant III and Curry Saeger.

Gloria E.”Gi-Gi” Ballard

Mrs. Gloria E.”Gi-Gi” Ballard, age 64, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, in a Montgomery, AL, health care facility.

Mrs. Ballard was born in Century, and had been a resident of Flomaton before moving to Titus, AL, six years ago. She was a bookkeeper for Fore/Dixie Development Co. for a number of years. Mrs. Ballard was a member of Flomaton Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son, Terry R. Ballard of Oakridge, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Toby Leonard of Titus, AL; and two grandsons, Tristan and Trevor.

A memorial service was Monday, July 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Flomaton Funeral Home with Jerry Brantley officiating.

Sharon “Sherry” McCaskill Ciampini

Sharon “Sherry” McCaskill Ciampini, 61, of Pensacola passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011.

Sherry had a passion for flowers and floral design. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ruby McCaskill.

Survivors include her son, Sky Silcox; sister, Pat Settles; brother, Jackie McCaskill; nephews, Taylor Crabtree and Justin Settles; also aunts and uncles, Van and Evelyn McCaskill, John and Joy Kemble, Mary Godwin Ward and Vernell McCaskill.

A emorial service will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Joan and Wayne Whitehead, Jackie Olbs, Suzie Powell, Barbara Carroll, Donnie Nicholson, Travis Silcox, Opal Anderson and James McCaskill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Aldersgate UMC Cemetery Fund, 6915 Hwy. 29 N., Cantonment, FL 32533.

James Alton Robbins

Mr. James Alton Robbins, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, in Pensacola.

Mr. Robbins was born in Walnut Hill on April 9, 1931, and resided in Bratt. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1949 – 1960. He retired from Monsanto in 1971 and started his construction business where he worked for several years before retiring. Alton was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many years of fishing with his son, Matt and good friend, Barney. He also loved to play the guitar and gospel singing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mae Robbins; two brothers, William T. Robbins, and Harrell Robbins; and a sister, Louree Battaglia.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lucille Robbins of Bratt; his son, Matt and Margo Robbins of Bratt; two grandchildren, Harmony Bell of Mobile and Sheldon Robbins of Bratt; two great-grandchildren, Logan Bell and Mackenzie Bell; a brother, Bill and Bernice Robbins of Pensacola; a sister, Charlene and J.D. Warrick of Jay; a special niece, Arlene Delafoasa of Atmore; a sister-in-law, Glennie Robbins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011, at 3:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Theron Collinsworth, the Rev. Ted Bridges and the Rev. Ronald Hall officiating.

Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011, from 2:00  p.m.. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Robert Lee “Bill” Powell

Mr. Robert Lee “Bill” Powell, 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at a Baldwin County hospital.

Mr. Powell was a native of Tallassee, AL, a resident of Stockton, AL, for the past 13 years, and attended the Baptist church. He was preceded in death his parents, Bud and Nellie Powell; a brother, Raymond Earl Powell; and three sisters, Geraldine Day West, Velma Jean Smith and Billie Jean Powell.

He is survived by his three daughters, Dianne Powell and Bruce Pike of New Braufels, TX, Donna Powell and Joey Garner of Pascagoula, MS, and Kelly and Jim Eissler of Bay Minette, AL; four grandchildren, Nathan W. Naranjo, Eric Eissler, Erika Eissler, Kaila Kresta; a brother, J. D. “Pete” and Laura Powell of Nokomis, AL; and two sisters, Gladys and Thomas Qualls of Atmore, AL, and Faye and Carlos Gohagin of Huxford, AL.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Pickern officiating.

Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011, between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Gene Lawson, Glen Cooley, Dickie Johnson, Mike Joiner, Mike Hurst, Ricky Miller and Billy Byrd.

Dorothy Loraine Barlow Beck

Dorothy Loraine Barlow Beck, 81, of Cantonment left for heaven Saturday, July 9th, 2011, after a long heart and lung related illness.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Garfield C. Beck; her parents, John W. and Annie Bell Barlow; her sisters, Bethel, Ruth, Lila, Augusta May and Linnie; her brothers, Talton and Wheeler; and her stepson, Garfield, Jr.

Surviving Dorothy are her sons, Michael Beck (Rose), Gregg Beck (Jan), and Morgan Beck (Jennifer); daughter, Linda Beck Causey; her beautiful “Grands“, Tracy Papaspiros (Jimmy), Lacey L Hardwick (Joey), Autumn O. Beck, Justin Beck (Kristin), Nichole Beck, Lauren Beck and Lindsey Beck; her “Great-Grands”, Irelyn, Bryre, Covington, Hudson, Jimmy, Jeorge, Levi, Shepard, and Jaiden. Dorothy was also loved and survived by many precious nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County and a loving, wife, mother and friend. Her faith in God and love of her family and friends were precious to her always.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. with funeral services to begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at Calvary Way Full Gospel Church, 100 Jones Street with Pastor Carl Shiver and Associate Pastor Jim Diamond officiating. Interment will follow at Milton Cemetery.

William (Bill) Charles Malone

William (Bill) Charles Malone, age 83, of McDavid, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, in Westminster, MD. Mr. Malone was born October 12, 1927, in Canoe, Escambia County, Florida. He was the son of the late William Thomas Malone and Julia Marie Malone. Mr. Malone was married to the late Lois Marie (Sheffield) Malone.

He was retired from Champion Paper Company, member of Rays Chapel Baptist Church, former Master Mason & Shriner, and former volunteer for the Cantonment Fire Department. Mr. Malone served four years in the U.S. Navy and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his daughter Gale Marie Taylor and grandchildren Hannah Marie, James Andrew Taylor and son in law Philip G. Taylor all of Taneytown, MD.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 11, 2011, at Rays Chapel with Rev. Nathan Brown and Rev. David Shofner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving, as pallbearers will be Don Word, Wayne Godwin, Steve McCauley, Anthony Burkett, Eddie Baker and Richard Bethea.

Honorary pallbearer will be Cliff McCauley.

The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment on Sunday, July 10, 2011, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Nadine Driskell McCaw

Mrs. Nadine Driskell McCaw, 57, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011, in Century.

Mrs. McCaw was a native and lifelong resident of Century and attended the First Baptist Church of Century. She was a town councilwoman for the Town of Century, an employee of the library, and a member of the Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, and the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alton and Lavonia Wilson; her parents, A.D. Driskell and Juanita Wilson Driskell; and two brothers, Alton Wilson, Jr. and Nolan Wilson.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Eddie McCaw of Century; two daughters, Juanita McCaw and Captain Charles Watson, III of Waynesville, MO, and Felicia McCaw and David Jones of Arab, AL; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Comer Wilson of Century, Charles Wilson of Bogia, and Willie Wilson of Century; and six sisters, JoAnn Driskell of Century, Faye McGill of Pensacola, Sylvia Godwin of Century, Lois Aboud of Planno, TX, Shirley White of Century, and Willene Bryan of Byrneville.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore with the Rev. David Boyd officiating.

Burial will follow at Poston Cemetery near Flomaton.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 10, 2011, from 6-9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
