Eloise (Weese) Elizabeth Cannon

Eloise (Weese) Elizabeth Cannon, age 93, of Jay passed peacefully into her Savior’s Arms on Tuesday morning December 27, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Cannon, whom she was married to for 54 years; parents, Charles and Edna Searcy; one brother; three sisters and daughter-in-law, Ann Bell Cannon.

She is survived by one son, Bill Cannon; two grandsons, Greg (Donna) Cannon and Keith Cannon; four great-grandchildren, Josh, Sarah, Jack, and Jacob and many nieces and nephews.

Eloise lived in Jay since 1942, and was a beautician for many years. She was very active and a member of Jay First Baptist Church and in the community. She was a charter member of Jay Chapter #208 Order of Eastern Star for over 60 years and was a past Grand Officer of the State of Florida.

Funeral services will be held at Jay First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Chip Fox and Bro. Will Rushing officiating services. Burial will follow at Jay City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday at Jay Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Russell, Julius Middleton, Eddie Cook, Mickey Brown, Greg Cannon and Keith Cannon.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Eastern Star.

A special thank you to Dr. C. David Smith and staff, Barbara Merritt, and Covenant Hospice employees, Tracey, Cathy, and Al.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be given to the Projector/Screen Fund at Jay First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 59, Jay, Florida 32565.

Bonnie Marie Klug

Mrs. Bonnie Marie Klug, 76, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, in Century.

Mrs. Klug was a native and resident of Century for most of her life and known as Granny Bonnie to everyone.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Dale Tamondong; and her husbands, Francisco Garcia Tamondong and Rolland John Klug.

She is survived by her son, Joey and Lita Tamondong of Lakeland, FL; her daughter, Ginny Tamondong of Tuscaloosa; three grandchildren, James Odom of Oakland, CA, Christopher Byrd of Tuscaloosa, and Chase Tamondong of Rogersville, AL; and two great-grandchildren, James Odom and Neely Odom, both of Oakland, CA.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore.

Burial will follow at the McCurdy Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 31, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home

Bonnie Marie Klug

Mrs. Bonnie Marie Klug, 76, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, in Century.

Helton Haddock

December 26, 2011

Helton Haddock, age 73 of Oak Grove, died Monday December 26, 2011, in Atmore. He was a chemical operator and supervisor with International Paper Company, born in Vernon on May 31, 1938, to the late Jack Easter and Annie Bell Curlee Haddock.

He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Haddock of Oak Grove; three daughters, Gina Denise Vaughn (Phillip) and Linda Darlene Johnson (Larry Spaller) all of Oak Grove, Marilyn Peters of Bratt; one son, Lester Hooper (Amanda) of Monroeville; six brothers, Wilton D. Haddock, Henry Elton Haddock, James Carlton Haddock, Curtis Cliffton Haddock, Donald Lee Haddock and Homer Preston Haddock; five sisters, Vydell Dyges, Myrtle M. Hodges, Lucille Odom, Luverne Phillips, and Joyce Summers; four grandchildren, Travis Wesley Johnson, Felishia Jade Seelig, Cody Helton Burroughs, Serina Kristen Johnson; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday December 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Butch Brown and Bro. Roy Chewing officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove cemetery.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday evening December 28, 2011, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore from 6-8 p.m.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Linda Wiggins

Mrs. Linda Wiggins, 63, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, in Jay.

Mrs. Wiggins was a native and lifelong resident of Century, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include: her husband, Randy Wiggins of Century; two daughters, Amanda Johnson of Flomaton, and Brandy Wiggins of Century; two grandchildren, Riley Johnson and Sierra Carnley; four brothers, Melvin Nelson, Thomas Nelson and Jimmy Nelson, all of Century, and Freddie Nelson of Byrneville; and two sisters, Mickie Stokes of Gautier, MS, and Terri Campbell of Flomaton.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 24, 2011, at 11 a.m. the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Crary Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 24, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Lambeth, Zachery Nelson, Brian Campbell, Frankie Redkey, Chip Glenn and Alton Ray Nelson.

Kenneth “Kenny” Day

Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” Day, 74, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at a Mobile hospital.

Mr. Day was a native and resident of McCullough, AL, for most of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a retired employee from Monsanto after 35 years, an employee of the City of Atmore for 10 years, and attended the First Pentecostal Church of Bagdad.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, William Owen and Berdie Marie Day, and two brothers, J.B. Day and William G. Day.

He is survived by his wife, Callie R. Day of McCullough; his son, Kenneth Nathan Nelson Day of Milton; his daughter, Mandy Amanda Day of McCullough; a stepdaughter by a previous marriage, Tonya Ann Sasser of McCullough; two stepdaughters, whom he loved and respected very much, Tammy Grubbs of Milton and Monica Mack of Bagdad; two stepsons, Bill Simmons and Charles Ervin Nelson, both of Milton; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nephew, Terry Day of McCullough; niece, Teresa Johnson of Nokomis, AL; and two Sisters, Celia Barker of St. Petersburg and Sylvia Godwin of DeFuniak Springs.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Powell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Mccullough Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 6-9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Middleton, David Hadley, Brandon Johnson, Bill Simmons, Ervin Nelson and Nathaniel Nelson. Honorary pallbearer will be Fred Peavy.

Bud Merchant

Mr. Bud Merchant, 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, in Century.

Mr. Merchant was a native of South Flomaton, AL, a former resident of Modesto, CA, a resident of Bluff Springs since 2001 and attended the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Merchant; a daughter, Anita merchant; and a son, Ray Cofield.

He is survived by his son Paul and Deborah Merchant of Weisser, ID; a sister, Agnes of Greensboro, SC; two grandchildren, Allen Merchant and Samantha Merchant; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday, December 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Crary Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 22, 2011, from 6-9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore.

Ronald “Chad” Williamson

Ronald “Chad” Williamson, 37, was carried by Jesus’ angels to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Chad was born in Pensacola and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Chad has been a fighter and has had a strong will to carry on but he no longer has to fight, he can now rest at the feet of his Savior.

Chad was preceded in death by his aunt Benita Holder King.

Chad is survived by his loving parents, Ronnie and Teresa Williamson; his special little sister, Moriah Williamson; grandparents, Bill and Edna Taylor, Harold and Audrey Holder; aunts and uncles, Deborah and Larry Andrews, Belinda and David Perry, Cindy and Dink Kennedy, Jackie and Gene Milstid, Terry and Pat Monahan, Debbie and Bill Terry, Billy and Dahlia Taylor; and cousins, Melissa Renacker, Tim Andrews, Joni Andrews, Bobby King, Marissa Perry, Austin Perry, Leslie Kennedy, Jessica Peacock, Stacy Monahan, Amanda Ruth, Melissa Hicks, Michelle Carpenter, Rebecca Moorer, Noel Taylor, Evan Taylor, Jennifer Cook and Jason Terry.

Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Faith Chapel North from 6-8 p.m. The celebration of Chad’s life will be Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Highland Baptist Church, Molino, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brian Calhoun officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his friends: Dean Hassebrock, Vinn Nguyen, Tom Mealey, Steve Barry, Al Hampton and Aaron Perry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Baptist church in Chad’s memory.

Marie Driver Whitehead

December 18, 2011

Marie Driver Whitehead, age 94, of Cantonment passed away Friday, December 16, 2011. She was born in Monroe County, Alabama.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Willis Floyd and her daughter, Helen Emerich.

Survivors include her three sons, James (Carlie) Whitehead of Cantonment, Wayne (Joan) Whitehead of Pensacola and Willis Whitehead, Jr. of Mobile, one brother, Robert Driver of Gonzalez along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, December 19, 2011, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Rev. Robert Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Assembly of God Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time. Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Highway 29 South Cantonment is in charge of arrangements.

John Cleveland Ard, Sr.

December 18, 2011

John Cleveland Ard, Sr., age 86, of Pensacola passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. John was born August 3, 1925, in Pensacola. He attended Tate High School; he then completed a four year apprenticeship and worked at NAS Pensacola. He retired after 40 years from St. Regis/Champion International Paper as a machinist. He loved his retirement, spending his time bass fishing and traveling with his wife. John loved his church family at Pinehaven Baptist Church.

John was preceded in death by his mother Lela Silver and stepfather Lonnie, his father Leon Ard and stepmother Lucille, and his first loving wife Peggy Nellums of 32 years and the mother of his three sons.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Dot) of 20 years; three sons, Louis, John Jr., Mark (Cara); three grandchildren Jeremy Ard, Brooke Ard Lassiter (Patrick) and Caityn Ard; daughter in law, Debra Ard; two stepsons, David Fuller (Betty), Rick Fuller (Shelia); four step grandchildren, Shawna Fuller Dupuis (Michael), Jonathan Fuller, Shaun Fuller, and Shannon Fuller; and one step sister, Marie Moyer.

John’s three sons and family would like to express their love and appreciation for their step mother Dot for the love and care she gave to their father.

Services were held at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home and burial took place at Bayview Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers were men from his Sunday school class at Pinehaven Baptist Church. Pastor Jimmy Lancaster was the officiating minister and was assisted by Clark Childress.

Flowers were appreciated and in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the music department at Pinehaven Baptist Church, 10400 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32534.

Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
