Mamie L. Morris – our precious and loving mother/grandmother passed into her eternal resting place on May 14, 2012.
Mrs. Morris was born on January 31, 1918. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband (Corbon), daughter (Yvonnia) and grandson (Ricky).
She is survived by two sons, Raymond Morris, Harold (Barbara) Morris; daughter Gladys (Steve) Rowell all of Munson; eightwonderful grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at Jay Funeral Home with Bro. Duke Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Jay Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Baxley, Stewart Baxley, Phil Cohron, Allen Qualls, Westel Cabaniss, and Gary Cabaniss
Honorary pallbearers will be Malcolm Reed, James Crain and James Simmons.
The family would like to think the front hall nurses, therapists and staff at Santa Rosa Health and Rehab and Santa Rosa Medical Center for the excellent care they provided for our precious mother.
Joseph Edward King

Joseph Edward King, 75, of Cantonment, passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Monday, May 14, 2012, comfortably in his home surrounded by family. Joseph was born in Fitchburg, MA. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force with three tours in Vietnam as a security police, retiring in 1990 after 16 years with E.C. S. D. corrections.
Since retiring, he worked as a security guard with CCI and Wells Fargo; also grounds maintenance at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Eastern Gate cemeteries. The past nine years, Joe worked part-time as maintenance supervisor with Premier Chemicals. During this time he also did lawn maintenance in several area cemeteries.
Joe was a very loving husband, Dad, grandpaw “POPS” and devoted friend. He was a very hard working man; he loved the outdoors, cutting grass and cleaning head stones. His favorite past time was to find his TV “clicker” and watch the history channel and old classic movies. He enjoyed being a Mason and spending time at the lodge with his “brothers”. He loved singing gospel songs sitting on the bed playing his guitar and harmonica with his grandbabies. Joe loved the Lord, his Savior and really enjoyed singing in many church choirs. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cottage Hill. In 1977, Joe became a mason at Ensley Lodge #278. He held many offices and served on many committees locally and with Grand Lodge. In 1989, he was Worshipful Master of #278. Joe was also Scottish Rite and Zelica Grotto. He was honorary member of several lodges. Joe spent many nights mentoring his brothers. His lodge brothers are truly part of our family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Blanche King and his brother Mitchell King, Jr.
Joe was survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Carolyn King, brother Dickie King and Ronnie (Teresa) King; 10 children; April King Randolph, Edward (Satomi) King, Julia Speed, Edna King, Misty (Carl) Stephens, Tim McGlothren, Shelley (Joe) Brown, Stacey (Chris) Ziglar, Mitchell (Tammy) King, Cammie Wright, 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Friday, May 18, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Faith Chapel North-Cantonment.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Faith Chapel North-Cantonment. Graveside will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Serving, as pallbearers will be his Masonic brothers from all area lodges. Rev. Drayton Smith and Rev. Mark Torres will be officiating.
A special thank you to Covenant Hospice and to all of his friends “Brothers” who have been so loving and supportive.

Thelma Peacock King

Mrs. Thelma Peacock King, age 102, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Atmore Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. King was a native of Byrneville and had been a member of the Atmore community since 1944 coming from Byrneville. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Earl D. King of Atmore; daughters, Thelma ‘Tina’ Christine Lowell of Atmore, Marie Jackson of Pensacola, Margaret McCourt of Navarre, Pauline Floyd of Montgomery; sister, Mary Morris of Jay; 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, May 19, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held graveside on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Atmore.

Alex Bell

Alex Bell, 80, resident of Sylva, NC, passed away Monday, May, 14, 2012.
Alex was born in McDavid and grew up in Pensacola. He attended Pensacola High School and later would join the Armed Services. After completion of his enlistment Alex gained employment with the City of Pensacola in their utilities division. He would later go on to become a communications officer with Pensacola Police Department for a combined service of over 31 years. Alex always had a passion for the water and fishing and loved to share it with his family and friends.
As for his family, Alex was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Of those whose life he touched, he will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Noah Bell; mother, Maggie Bell; brother, A.P. (Arthur) Bell and sisters, Agnes Sheppard and Essie Mae Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Emily C. Bell; sons, Alex and Jeff Bell; grandchildren, Lindsey, Luke, Noah and Adam; great grandchildren, Cordelia, Lily and Kylie.
Graveside Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at St. John’s Cemetery with Rev. Geoffrey Lentz officiating.

Mrs. Doris Eloise Gideon, age 84 of Century, passed away on May 15, 2012, at a local health care facility.
Mrs. Gideon was a native of Century and had been a member of the Monroeville and Repton communities. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carlene and sister, Paulene Travis.
She is survived by her sons, Jamie Gideon of Pensacola and Glenn Burleson of Century; daughter, Tondalea Dubose of Repton; sister, Delorse Darby of Century; four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, May 16, 2012, at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Colburn officiating. Interment will follow in Crary Memorial Cemetery, Bluff Springs, FL.

Mrs. Doris Stokes Keese

Mrs. Doris Stokes Keese, age 83, of Century, passed away on May 14, 2012, at a local hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Keese was a native of Brewton and had been a member of the Century community since 1947 coming from Brewton. She was a graduate of T R Miller High School and had attended Jefferson Davis Community College. Mrs. Keese was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Flomaton. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Lois Idell Stokes; brothers, Benjamin Franklin Stokes, III, William Roy Stokes, Charles Fred Stokes, and her husband, John Martin Broomes, Sr.
Mrs. Keese is survived by her husband of 35 years, Rev. Jerry Keese of Century; son, John Martin Broomes, Jr. of Century; daughters, Jan Broomes Sales of Pensacola, Irene Broomes (Dewey) Bondurant, Jr. of Flomaton, Michele (Terry) Keese-Burchett and Whitney Keese Wheeler, both of Gulf Breeze; sisters, Carolyn Stokes Jennings and Mary Catherine Stokes Baker, both of Brewton; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, May 15, 2012, at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Flomaton with the Rev. Dustin Stockstill and Dr. David Gardner officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Ann Florie and pianist, Susan Adkinson.
Interment will follow in Flomaton Cemetery, Flomaton, AL.

Charles Herman Sansom, Sr.

Charles Herman Sansom, Sr., 72, died Wednesday, May 9, at his home in Pensacola, surrounded by his family. Charlie was born on September 16, 1939, in Port. St. Joe, Florida, where he lived until 1954, when his family moved to Century, where Charlie met his future wife and graduated from high school. After Pensacola Junior College, Charlie married, then began a career at (Chemstrand) Monsanto. In the Century community, he will be remembered for his long hours of labor and dedication to the Century Volunteer Fire Department, in which he was a charter member and longtime chief. He used the same dedication at the Monsanto Fire Department, where he also served as chief and for whom he taught yearly classes in Industrial Firefighting at Texas A & M. Charlie was a Plant Shift Supervisor at the time of his retirement.
After moving to Pensacola, Charlie became a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, Escambia County Search and Rescue, and Stephen R. Mallory Camp 1315 of the Sons of the Confederacy. After his retirement, Charlie enjoyed traveling with his wife and photographing wildlife, working in his garden, tinkering with his model railroad layouts, listening to his scanner, lending a helping hand, and watching his beloved Florida Gators. He was a consummate (but never cruel) practical joker who loved to find laughter in any situation.
Charlie was one of those rare individuals who saw the good in everyone and the pleasure in every moment. He never made an enemy and never closed a conversation with harsh words. Charlie was a kind, generous family man whose passing will leave a hole in the heart of everyone who ever had the privilege of meeting him.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Alma Sansom. He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years Ruth Elizabeth, son Charles “Chuck” (Sharon) Sansom, Jr., daughters Beth (Ronny) Norwood and Stephanie (Raymond Higgins) Sansom, sister Lou Owens, brothers John (Martha) Sansom and Michael Sansom , mother-in-law Mary Stanton, brother-in-law Sam (Clara) Stanton, seven granddaughters, four grandsons, three great-grandsons, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who seem as close as family.
Friends and family are welcome during visitation from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1394 Nine Mile Road, Pensacola. A service for Charlie will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ted Bowne, Rev. Mike Roberts, and Rev. Carolyn Nelson officiating. There will be no graveside services, but honorary pallbearers include Steve Hacker, Jim Hernandez, Frank Jackson, Hal Kuhn, John Nowlin, Sid Perry, Jerry Simmons, Paul Villane, and Ronny Wadkins.

Clyde Carroll

Clyde Carroll, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2012, with his wife by his side. Clyde was born in Brewton and has lived in Cantonment for the past 30 years. He served in the US Army during the time of the Korean War. After his time in the Army he worked mostly in sales and after retiring he is remembered working and helping many at Reynolds Hardware Store and Faith Chapel Funeral Home. Clyde was always a hard worker taking pride in any job he had and never meeting a stranger. His treasured his Christian faith, wife, family and friends. He enjoyed being active in his church, taking family vacations spending time with his grandchildren fishing and watching them play sports. Clyde was always a kid at heart, singing, laughing and enjoying his life. His funny personality and smiling face will always be part of our memories.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 30 years, Brenda Carroll, daughters, Brandy (Mark) Jackson, Melissa Newton, Katherine (Rex) Amerson and son, DeWayne (Deb) Carroll. His grandchildren; Tyler and Tanner Jackson, Cameron, Spencer and Kendall Newton, Isabela Pomeroy, Tayler and Taryn Fuller, Christian Jernigan, Steven and Shaun Cook, Michael Carroll and Jennifer Calway, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Terry Dale “Wolfman” Killam

Mr. Terry Dale “Wolfman” Killam, age 61, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, in Bay Minette.
Mr. Killam was a native of Bratt and a resident of Century for the past 33 Years. Mr. Killam was a veteran of the Vietnam War, was an employee of Solutia, an avid hunter, fisherman, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved to share hunting and fishing stories with his family and friends as well as spending time at Boatyard Lake.
He is preceded in death by his father, Winfred “Peanut” Killam, grandparents and granddaughter Mable Killam.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Geraldine and Bruce Campbell of Century; wife of 33 years, Brenda Tharp Killam of Century; son, Terry Dale Killam II (Dale) of Century; daughter, Tiffany Killam (David) Jurey of Milton; brother, Gavin (Barbara) Killam of Birmingham; two sisters, Gleda (Jerry) McElhaney of Bratt and Tara (Burton) Wiggins of Elberta; three grandchildren, Colby Berry, Paige Killam and Kelan Jurey; uncle, Alton (Merle) Killam and aunt, Dorothy Sutton (Billy) Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Petty Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Lee officiating.
Burial will follow at Rock Cemetery.

Mable L. St. Germain, 70 of Atmore, passed away Monday May 14, 2012, in Pensacola. She was a nurse, born in Poarch on January 3, 1942, to the late Hurley and Carlie McGhee.
She is preceded in death by a son, Bobby Dannelly.
She is survived by a son, John Calvin Dannelly, and daughter, Cindy Colardo, both of Poarch; five brothers, Leon McGhee and Levon McGhee both of Foley, John Dalrymple of Opp, Thomas Dalrymple of Atmore, Tommy McGhee of TN; two sisters: Sara Dalrymple and Patricia McGhee both of Poarch; four grandchildren, and many friends.
Services will be Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the Atmore Memorial Chapel with Bro Leon McGhee and Bro. Ward officiating. Interment will follow in McCullough Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Levon McGhee, Thomas Dalrymple, John Dalrymple, Wayne McGhee, John McGhee and Tommy McGhee. Honorary pallbearer is Danny Rowland.
Family will receive friends Saturday May 19, 2012, at Atmore Memorial Chapel from noon until service time.
