Joseph “Joey” David Smith

Joseph “Joey” David Smith walked into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, February 23, 2012. He was born Jean Claude Mack on June 21, 1979, and became the special son of J.V. and Ethel Smith.

He is survived by his seven brothers and sisters, Sharon, Karen, Donell, Marian, Johnell, James and Trisha.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to service time at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Brother Chip Barbas officiating. Interment will follow at First Baptist Church of Cottage Hill Cemetery.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North in Cantonment is in charge of all arrangements.

Jeffery Leonard Jackson

Mr. Jeffery Leonard Jackson, age 47 of Jay passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 23, 2012.

Mr. Jackson was a native of Brewton and had been a resident of Bay Minette for two years coming from Jay. During his working years, Mr. Jackson worked as a roustabout in the construction industry. He was of the Protestant faith.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his mother, Eloise (Eddie) Muse of Century; sons, Jeffery Lynn Jackson of Foley, and Curtis Jackson of Bay Minette; brothers, Kenneth Jackson of Bay Minette and Randy Jackson of Gulf Breeze; sister, Sylvia Graves of Brewton; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, February 28, 2012, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 29 at 2 p.m. at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Dwenger officiating.

Interment will be in Jay Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim Bauldree, Jeffery Lacy, Shannon Phillips, Tony Williamson, Tim Lee and Billy Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Lacy, Gary Don Lacy and Jerry L. Lacy.

Claude W. Moye

February 28, 2012

Mr. Claude W. Moye, 77, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at a Mobile hospital.

Mr. Moye was a native and resident of Robinsonville for most of his life. He was a retired employee of Monsanto after 35 years of service, a retired farmer and attended the Robinsonville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Moye of Century; two sons, Mike and Barbara Moye of Robinsonville,  Duff and Crystal Moye of Booneville; a stepson, Ricky and Linda Rutherford of Perdido; three daughters, Sherrin and Dan Thomas of Brewton, Suzanne and Scott Daniel of Mobile, and Mishalene and Charles Coker of Ft. Walton; a stepdaughter, Kristi and Chris Taylor of Brewton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Gertrude Smith of Atmore,, Gladys Stanton of Robinsonville, and Wilanette Troutman of Atmore.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike McMorris and the Rev. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial will follow at the Robinsonville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday February 27, 2012, from 6-9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chad Moye, Canyon Moye, Dex Daniel, Zack Coker, Jordan Coker and Alex Coker.

Honorary pallbearer will be Blake Daniel.

Robert Lawrence “Robby” Quimby

Robert Lawrence “Robby” Quimby, 45 of Niceville, and formerly of Atmore, passed way Thursday, February 23, 2012, in Houston.

He was a computer scientist with Eglin Air Force Base He was born in Monroeville on September 17, 1966, to Robert E. and Julianne Johnson Quimby.

Robby was a graduate of Troy University, he loved hunting and fishing, was an avid Auburn fan.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Minnie Lee Quimby, and Julius and Sybil Johnson.

Survivors are his wife, Beth F. Quimby of Niceville; his parents, Bobby and Julie Quimby of Atmore; one daughter, Lauren Sanchez and husband, Nestor of Ocala; one granddaughter, Soraya Grace Sanchez of Ocala; one brother, Toby Quimby and wife, Maggie of Atmore; three mephews, Blake, Brad and Bryant Quimby all of Atmore; and a host of friends.

Services will be Monday February 27, 2012, at 2 p.m.from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Woodrow Hudson and Rev. Jim Reece officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be, Chew Smothers, Richard Burdine, Sammy Lee, Glenn Wilson, Blake Quimby, Brad Quimby, Bryant Quimby, Scott Fuller and John Fuller. Family will receive friends, Monday February 27, 2012 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from noon until service time.

Michael “Scotty” Hughes, Jr.

Michael “Scotty” Hughes, Jr. age 42, of Cantonment passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Scotty was born on August 12, 1969, in Covington, LA. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and all around outdoorsman. Most of all he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle.

Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Allen O’Neal and J. B. Hughes and his grandmother, Ruth Hughes.

Survivors include his spouse, Angela Freund, his sons, Nick and Michael Hughes, his step-son, Robert Freund, his step-daughter, Brianne Freund, his grandson, Harlom Poole, his mother, Betty (Billy Glenn) Sells, his father, Michael (Charlotte) Hughes, Sr. , his step-father, Robert (Helen) Wright, his grandmother, Bernice O’Neal, his uncle, Chuck Hollingsworth, his aunt, Marie (Ronnie) Pitts, his aunt, Helen (Randolph) Whittington, his brothers, Bobby (Heather) Hughes and Jason (Tania) Hughes, sisters, Jennifer Hughes, Emily Hughes and Casey Wright, nephews, Jacob Hughes, Garrett Hughes, Dakota Hughes and Colby Hughes, nieces, Megan Hughes, Shelby Hughes and cousins, Robyn Parmer and Kristi Brown.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012m at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Rev. Mark Torres officiating.

James Edward Gentry, age 57 of Walnut Hill, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 24, 2012. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Betty Lou and John Edwin Gentry and a brother Terry Dean Gentry.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Darlene Gentry; daughter, Tara Ann Gentry; sons, Jeremiah Egan Gentry, Joshua Evan Gentry, and James Ethan Gentry; nieces, Laura Michelle Gentry, Stacey Lynn Bailey and Alicia Nicole Yerg;  nephews, Dustin and Drew Gentry; grandchildren, Brooklynn Gentry and Jacob Gentry; one great nephew, Michale Butler and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 27, 2012, at 1 p.m.from Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Barbas officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Beathea, Larry Gibson, Tim Gentry, Randy Dortch, George Wetherbee, Roy Thomas and Zane Grey.

John Dana Lowery

John Dana Lowery, age 56 of Ridge Road Brewton, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in a Pensacola hospital after a brief illness. He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. Mr. Lowery was a member of Ridge Road Baptist Church. He attended W.S. Neal High School, and was retired auto parts salesman.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Lowery, and his wife, Vanessa Belveal Lowery.

He is survived by his monther, Idelle Lanier Lowery of Brewton; one son, Patrick (Holly) Lowery of Brewtonl four daughters, Rhonda (Terry) Pate of Brewton, Jennifer (Danny) Smith of Brewton, Sarah Lowery of Brewton, Katie (John) Fowler of Flomaton; two brothers, Mike (Sue) Lowery of Brewton, Joel (Carla) Lowery of Milton; and five grandchildren, Billie Strength, Caleb Strength, Regan Strength, Josie Smith and Dalton Fowler.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.

Funeral aervices are scheduled for Friday morning February 24, 2012, at 10:00 at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton.

Shirley Wyatt White

Shirley Wyatt White, age 72 of Jay, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in Pensacola.

She was a lifelong resident of Jay and a member McLellan Church of Christ. She was a retired registered nurse, who made caring for others a lifelong commitment.

She is preceded in death by her father, James T. Wyatt and husbands Benny R. White (2004) and George D. West (1970).

She is survived by her mother Mary E. Wyatt; children, Rusty (Tricia) Wade, Bill (Teresa) Wade and Mima (Jack) Floyd; stepchildren; Saundra Casey, Joe White, Susan White and Melissa Gorum; brother Fred (Pat) Wyatt; grandchildren, Kathleen Wade, Jessica Wade, Morgan Floyd and Mallory Floyd.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, at Jay Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at the Dixonville Community of Christ Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.
