Glenn Eddie Milstead

Glenn Eddie Milstead was born on April 9, 1950, in Pensacola. He served in the US Army from 1972 until 1975 as a salvage diver. He attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Theology. He was instrumental in establishing Dogwood Park Baptist Church where he served as pastor for over 25 years.

His Lord Jesus Christ and his family were dearest to his heart. He was an avid outdoors man who loved hunting and enjoyed God’s creation.

He is proceeded in death by his brother, Johnathon.

He is survived by his parents, Blue and June Milstead, siblings and his wife of 44 years, Sharon, and their children Jennifer Milstead Colvin, (Rodney Colvin), Emily Milstead Coggins, (Kevin Coggins), Natalie Milstead, Jason Milstead, Justin Milstead (Julia Milstead), Vanessa Milstead, Stanley Milstead and James Milstead. He was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 17th at 5:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel North. Services will be on Tuesday, December 18th at Dogwood Park Baptist Church. Burial service will follow at Pine Barren Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim Tennyson, Harvey Malone, James Earl Hall, Angus Brewton, Craig Smith and Vince Milstead. Honorary Pallbearers are AJ Hudson, Benny Hassebrock and Jimmy Rutherford.

Ann Arnold

December 16, 2012

Ann Arnold, 74, of Cantonment,passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Ann and her husband, John H. Arnold ran Johnny’s Tune-Up on L Street for 45 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Frank Lawrence and Jennie L. Adams Lawrence.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John H. Arnold; sons, Johnny R. Arnold and wife Lisa, James Edward Arnold and wife Anjelica; granddaughter, Elizabeth Arnold; grandson, Gio Dinitto; sister, Philamena Waite and husband Norman; nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Escambia County Animal Shelter, 200 Fairfield Drive, Pensacola, FL 32501 in Ann’s memory.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 17, 2012, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. with a memorial service at 4 p.m. with Reverend Bill Flannigan officiating.

Margaret Kelley Ellis

Margaret Kelley Ellis, 88, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012.

She was born on April 25, 1924, in Century  to the late Jodie R. and Jessie Mae Newton Kelley and resided in the local area her entire life. Mrs. Ellis will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her family. Quilting was a special hobby and she leaves a collection of quilts for her family to enjoy; however, Mrs. Ellis also enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and camping.

She was preceded in death is her husband of 54 years, Charlie Ellis.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Joseph “Max” Ellis and his wife, Pam; four grandsons; nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Elizabeth Hicks and her husband, J. D.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 am Monday, December 17, 2012, at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home until services begin at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Jerry Curtis Maddox

Mr. Jerry Curtis Maddox, 60, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, in Mobile.

Mr. Maddox was a native and former resident of Molino and a resident of Little River for the past several years. Mr. Maddox was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was an avid fisherman. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert and Dumer Maddox; brother, Bennie Ray Maddox and two sisters, Deloris Finley and Betty Lister.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Audrey Maddox of Little River; two sons, James (Sarah) Maddox of Little River and Phillip Maddox of Little River; one daughter, Dana (James Bagwell) Maddox of Brewton; one brother, Alan Maddox of Atmore; one sister, Brenda Maddox Baccus of Atmore and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, December 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Angelo Thomley officiating.

Burial will follow at the Magnolia Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 16, 2012, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Roger Hall, James Maddox, Phillip Maddox, Bubba Bagwell, Richard Maddox and Robert Day.

Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Buckhault, Cliff Risher, James Buckhault, Jessie Buckhault and Buddy Maddox.

Jessie Drew Criswell

December 12, 2012

Mrs. Jessie Drew Criswell of Molino, was born March 27, 1925, in Lottie, to Jim and Ettie Drew. She passed from this world on December 10, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, James Marshall Criswell. While her primary role in life was a homemaker, she worked for the State of Alabama in the 1930’s & 40’s on many fire towers in Baldwin and Escambia Counties.

She is survived by her three sons, Milton (Carlyn) Criswell of Molino, Billy (Janie) Criswell of McDavid and Gary (Tammie) Criswell of Molino; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Jessie has resided in Molino for the past 55 years and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Over the years, she touched many lives through her work with vacation bible school and many other activities with her church and her ladies Sunday School class. She also volunteered at the now closed Molino Elementary School in the library, a job that she truly loved. She loved being around the children and was “Granny” to all. She also worked as a volunteer with the Council On Aging caring for the elderly who could no longer care for themselves. She was also a recipient of this same care in her latter days.

Many thanks to Mrs. Mary and Mrs. Eleanor for the care they gave to our mother. Also, many thanks to the home health care nurses and Covenant Hospice who provided such comforting care.

Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel North on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Highland Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Edward L. Albritton

December 10, 2012

Edward L. Albritton, 82 of Atmore, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012. He was born April 9, 1930, in Nokomis, FL. He retired after 23 years from the United States Air Force and retired later from Eddie’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration in Atmore. He is preceded in death by his parents; Lenard and Stella Albritton and sister Magdaline Albritton Evers.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Shirley Barbarow Albritton; son, Brian (Delkatrice) Albritton; daughter, Charlotte (Jim) Jernigan; son, Eddie Wendell (Teresa) Albritton; brother, Lenard (Hazel) Albritton, Jr.; sisters, Eunice (Rodney) Williams and Dorothy (Nathan) Nall; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Perdido Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.

Active pallbearers will be Olan Albritton, Tim Albritton, Jim Jernigan, Nick Hill, Tim Ramer and Jeremy McGhee.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Amanda S. Maddox

Amanda S. Maddox, 64, of Cantonment, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012.

Amanda was a graduate of the University of Alabama and retired from the State of Florida Department of Children and Families after 35 years of employment. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and a founding member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Pensacola.

She is survived by her husband, James B. Maddox, Jr.; daughter, Christina Maddox; granddaughters, Deona Duke, Kaylei Duke and Payton Duke and sister, JoAnn Smith.

A memorial service was held Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Pensacola.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Amanda’s memory to Holy Cross Episcopal Church.

Betty Dunsford Boone

Mrs. Betty Dunsford Boone, age 78 of Brewton, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in a Brewton Health Care Facility.

Mrs. Boone was born and raised in Jay and had been a resident of the Brewton area for the past 24 years. She had worked as a registered nurse during her working years. Mrs. Boone was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her husband, Mr. Robert M. Boone of Brewton; one brother, Johnny Dunsford of Bluff Springs; and one sister, Wanda Andrews of East Brewton; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 7, 2012, from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. Wilbur Graves officiating.

Interment was in Hollywood Cemetery.

Olvena Bell Smith

Olvena Bell Smith, 96, of Canoe, died December 5, 2012, in Atmore.

She was born in Stanley Crossroads in Escambia County (AL) on March 9, 1916, to Guss Monroe and Itilie Burns Bell.

She was a poll worker in Canoe for more than 50 years, and she was recognized on BBC America television news for this long record. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Canoe. In her earlier years, she was active in community work, including serving as an officer of the Canoe Civic Club and the Homemakers Club in Canoe, as well as statewide. She was a member of the Canoe Study Club. She is preceded in death by her husband King James Smith.

She is survived by her children, Max (Marie) Smith of Hurtsboro, AL, Sylvia Hart of Daphne, and J. Mike (Janice) Smith of Canoe; grandchildren, Anita Marie (Paul) Hitchcock; Brian (Rita) Smith; and Ben M. (Becca) Smith and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Wood and the Rev. John Stacey officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Wawbeek.

Pallbearers will be family members Brian Smith, Ben Smith, Paul Hitchcock, Ron Bell, Clyde Helton and James Bell.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Canoe.

John Benjamin “J.B.” Stewart

John Benjamin “J.B” Stewart, 78, of Atmore, died on Thursday, December 6, 2012, in Atmore. He was born in Rabon on September 9, 1934.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Alla Mae Stewart and brother Marvin Stewart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nioma Taylor Stewart; eight children, Tina Brand of FL; Karen (Eugene) Rackard of Chipley, Dell (John) Harrison, Melanie (Chris) Rolin, Betty (Billy) Walker and Martha Colbert all of Atmore, Robert Earl Hommel, II of Canby, OR,  Michael James Hommel of Milwawkee, WI; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brother, Albert “Sonnny” Stewart; sisters, Mildred Hadley; Betty Blankenship, Seville Blackmon and Eva Lucas all of Baldwin, County; 10 nieces and eight nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leo Luker and Rev. Thurl Pearson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Billy Walker, Eugene Rackard, Chris Rolin; Tim Lee; Ronnie Jackson, Marion McGhee, Garvis Sells, and Don Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, Denny Garvin; Billy Walker; Ben Lee; Noah Lee, Ernest “Bubba” Rolin; Jonathan Rackard; Jeremy Crane; Nate Fernandez; Tyler Fernandez, Truker Brand and Beau Hommel.
