Eloise O’Farrell Brown

Mrs. Eloise O’Farrell Brown , 83 of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
She was born January 20, 1930, in Bratt, to the late Talton and Maggie Blanton O’Farrell.
She was a graduate of Ernest Ward High School Class of 1947 and enjoyed organizing class reunions through the years. She graduated from Florida State University and taught school for many years. She was owner and operator of B&B Western Corral and Atmore Pecan Company.
She is preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Gadis O’Farrell, husband, Keel H. Brown and brother, Buford O’Farrell.
Survivors are two sons, Ronald K. (Sharon) Brown and James F. (Kim) Brown all of Atmore; two daughters, Brenda Brown (Steve) Gerald of Perdido and Janet Brown (Tommy) Strawbridge of Atmore; one sister, Emma Parker of Montgomery; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 28, 2013, from the First Assembly of God Church of Atmore with Rev. Don Davis and Rev. Leon Stewart officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Kent Brown, Brandon Strawbridge, Brian Strawbridge, Tanner Gerald, Tyler Brown and Donnie Bell.
Honorary Pallbearers are, Dr. F.D. Salter, Dale Ash, Eugene O’Farrell, Edgar Norris, Mike Garrard and Michael Roley.

Margarette Wooley Earle

Mrs. Margarette Wooley Earle, 90, of Atmore, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, in Brewton.
She was born in Repton, Ala., on April 30, 1923, to the late Emmett Joseph and Anna Williamson Wooley. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Atmore and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church Guild. Mr. and Mrs. Earle owned Earle’s Jewelers for over 43 years. She volunteered at Atmore Nursing Home Beauty Shop for over 25 years and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was Grand Ruth of Alabama and lifetime appointment of Colorado. She was a staff member to Governor Lurleen Wallace.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman B. Earle and a daughter, Virginia Ann Earle; two brothers, a sister; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Stewart.
Survivors include two daughters, Margarita E. (Ron) Headley of Brewton and Frances E. (Wayne) Dunn of Atmore; grandchildren, Kristie Dunn Dieguez, Heather Headley Stewart, Tracy Dunn Murphy and Kimberley Headley Flores; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Headley, Rev. Debora Bishop and Rev. Mike Bedford officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Wayne Dunn, Larry Wooley, Roberto Flores, Wallace Byrd, Jerald Jaye, Todd Murphy and Tommy John Earle.

Mrs. Doris J. McNeil, 73, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in Mobile.
Mrs. McNeil was a native of McCullough and had resided in Atmore for most of her life. She greeted customers at McNeil Alignment. Her Husband, T.E. “Mac” McNeil, precedes her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Curtis (Sharon) Crook of Atmore and Eric (Renee) McNeil of Bay Minette; two daughters, Tracey (Dale) Caraway and Kim (James) Brown both of Atmore; two brothers, Fred Johnson of Atmore and James Johnson of Waynesboro, MS; one sister, Olga Barton of Summerdale; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Diane Everette officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Brown, Chris Robinson, Brandon Henderson, Joe Barber, Al Cobb and Dale Caraway.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eleanor Lucas, Jean Clark, Eleanor Flowers and Dorothy Henderson.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Wiggins, 64, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, in Mobile.
Mrs. Wiggins was a native of Century and a resident of Perdido since 1999. Mrs. Wiggins retired from Piggly Wiggly in Century after 23 years of service. Her first husband, Elbert Ronald Wiggins; second husband, A.G. Smith; one son, Elbert “Bert” Ronald Wiggins, Jr.; and mother, Mary E. Peacock, precede her in death.
Survivors include her three sons, William Henry (Patty) Wiggins of Atmore, Bruce Kendall “Kenny” (Susan) Smith of Perdido and James Agee (Teresa) Smith of Bay Minette; one daughter, Becky (David) Macks of Perdido; two brothers, Raymond Simmons of Missouri and Bo Simmons of Milton; two sisters, Brenda Peacock of Perdido and Linda Sue Wiggins of Bratt; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Floyd officiating.
Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.

James Leonard “Jimmy” Harrison,Jr., 61, of Opelika, Ala., passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013, in Mobile. He was a truck driver born in Atmore on January 22, 1952, to James Leonard and Lorraine Galloway Harrison, Sr. He is preceded in death by his father, James Leonard Harrison, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Davis Harrison of Opelika; mother, Lorraine Harrison of Atmore; three sons, James Leonard (Abigail Whitaker) Harrison III, Glendon Blake (Amber) Harrison and Dustin Farrell (Emily Dean) Harrison, all of Atmore; one daughter, Audra Lynn (Quinton) Peavy of Uriah; two brothers, Wayne (Barbara) Harrison and Dale Harrison both of Atmore; two grandchildren, Madeline Grace Hartley and Carson Ryan Peavy.
Services will be Thursday September 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.

Johnny Lewellen Gilmore

Mr. Johnny Lewellen Gilmore, 78, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in Pensacola.
Mr. Gilmore was a native of McDavid, a former resident of Flomaton, and had resided in Brewton for the past seven years. He was in the Brewton Golf Club.
He is survived by his three sons, Johnny Gilmore of Brewton, Royce Gilmore of San Diego, and Jeremy Gilmore of Brewton; one daughter, Lisa Cistillo of Tucson, AR; one sister, Martez Dortch of Bratt; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.
Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 23, 2013, from oon until funeral time at 2 p.m. at the Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Dr. James Ralph Holmes

Dr. James Ralph Holmes (“Jim”), passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013. He built his life around making a difference in the lives of others. He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Colorado, and served as the Director of the Counseling Center at the University of West Florida for 27 years. There, he changed the lives of countless students and was devoted to training a wealth of good therapists. He was an integral part of the Society for Descriptive Psychology and worked to bring a new understanding of persons and their behavior to everyone he could. He continued to engage in consulting and training following his retirement from UWF.
He was a husband, father, teacher, and therapist, and was described by a friend as a true “gentle” man. He loved his family, and was as dedicated to them as he was to helping others. He enjoyed traveling, especially in Colorado, and was always on a quest to learn something new. Just before his death, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of writing a book to help people suffering from depression.
He is survived by his wife, Garnet; five children; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren who will miss their Papa. “The beauty of a life so well lived is never lost. The memories of Jim live in all of us.”
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with funeral services to begin at 11 a.m.

Beverly Sue Gindl, 76, passed away September 19, 2013. For many years she worked for the Escambia County School District at George Stone Center. She was a devoted wife, mother and nana. Her family was her life, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her most treasured gifts. To her grandchildren, Nana was funny, supportive unconditionally, and the most wonderful Nana in the world. Her family will never forget the holidays and Sunday dinners where everyone enjoyed her great cooking and sitting around spending quality time and creating treasured memories. Our lives are forever changed by her passing, but we are comforted in knowing we will see again.
Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Peter Gindl; and her parents; Jewel and Vivian Wilson and her brother, Jimmy Wilson.
She is survived by daughters Jeanene (Tony) Hall, Lesa (Clarence) Morgan and Nancy (Foye) Perry; sons Peter (Donna) Gindl, Jr. and Stephen (Carmen) Gindl; grandchildren Christa (Will) Wilson, Jimmy (Marissa) Morgan, Christopher (Jennifer) Morgan, Caleb Gindl, Lacie Gindl, Rayla Gindl, Rudy Gindl and Lindsey Gindl; and great-grandchildren Jordan Wilson, Cooper Wilson, Owen Morgan and Ansley Morgan; brother Randall Wilson; very special aunt and uncle Eva McCroskey and Bubber McCroskey; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Molino. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mervin Clark; and sisters, Lee Savage, Jean Bultman and Nan McQuillan.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Charlene Clark; his son, Greg B. (Micaela) Clark of Cantonment; his daughters, Janice P. (Dennis) Phillips of Monroe, LA, and Marian Kay (Bill) Beardsley of Pace; eight grandchildren ; six great grandchildren; his brothers, Louie Max Clark and Robert Finn Clark, both of Athens, GA; his sisters, Valda Goss and Ann Taylor, both of Sale City, GA; a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 20, 2013, at 10 a.m.at the Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Carter Autin, Jackson Autin, Gregory D. Clark, Mark Connolly, John Ferris, William Beardsley, Jaimie Autin, Bill Beardsley and Samuel Jones. Liston Jenkins “L.J.” Dewberry

Mr. Liston Jenkins “L.J.” Dewberry, age 90 of North Pineview Circle in Brewton (Pineview Community), passed away Wednesday morning September 18, 2013, at a local hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Dewberry was a native of Canoe, Ala., and a life long resident of the Brewton area. He was a retired powerhouse operator from Champion Paper Co. with 33 years of service. Mr. Dewberry was a United States Air Corp veteran and was a member of the Pineview Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife Delray Godwin Dewberry of Brewton; sister-in-laws; Juanita Parker of Brewton, Johnnie White of Flomaton, Porcia Pettis of Wallace, Ala, Delores Baggett of Molino; brother-in-law Robert Godwin of Pineview; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be held Friday morning September 20, 2013, from 10-11 a.m. service time at Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. James Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery in the Pineview Community, Brewton with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
