Nelda Rice

Mrs. Nelda Rice, 59, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013, in Pensacola, Florida.
Mrs. Rice was a native of Perdido, former resident of Century and had resided in Walnut Hill for the past 12 years. Mrs. Rice was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and attended the Pine Barren Baptist Church. Her father, Douglas Smith, precedes her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Lavonah Pauline Smith of Bay Minette; her husband, R.C. Rice of Walnut Hill; one son, Timothy Cunningham of Pensacola; one step-son, Robert Charles Rice of Mississippi; two daughters, Wendy (Christopher) Jackson of Pensacola and April Johnson of Atmore; one step-daughter, Laura Rodriquez of North Carolina; one brother, Tony Smith of Bay Minette; one sister, Corrine Parrack of Bay Minette; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Harper, Rev. Robert Barrow and Rev. J.P. Lambert officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pine Barren Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, November 29, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Peterson, Mickey Peterson, Michael Dermous, Scotty Smith, Eric Smith and Timothy Cunningham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Jackson and Clifton Dixon.

Mary Lou Kinnard
November 28, 2013
Mary Lou Kinnard, was born May 13, 1911, in Gonzalez, Fla., and raised in Alabama. She graduated high school in Excel, Ala. After graduation Mary Lou entered nursing school at City Hospital in Mobile and graduated nursing school in 1934. She started her first nursing job in 1935 at Mercy Hospital in Alma, MI. Mary Lou married Clark Kinnard June 5, 1936, in Alma, MI. Later they retired to Wewahitchka, Fla., in 1969 and she retired from nursing in 1970. Mary Lou moved to Pensacola in 1981 and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Clark Kinnard; three brothers and three sisters-in-law.
Survivors include her niece, Gloria Faye (Floyd) Cornett; other nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Olean West and Kathy Toepfer.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Sanford Stanton officiating.
Interment will take place immediately following at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola. Special thanks to the caregivers at Homestead Village Assisted Living for their loving care.

Melba Yvonne Kelly

Ms. Melba Yvonne Kelly, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, in Atmore.
Ms. Kelly was a native and lifelong resident of Bratt. Ms. Kelly was a Sunday school teacher, children’s church, organist and was retired from B.C. Moore. She was a member of the Bratt Assembly of God.
She is survived by her two brothers, Rev. Charles (Eloise) Kelly of Dunn, NC and Everette Sylvester (Wanda) Kelly of Bay Minette; four sisters, Katherine Cotton and Clara Franklin, both of Dothan, Alice Higginbothem of Pensacola and Lorine Elliot of Bratt; and number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 29, 2013, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kelly and Rev. Theron Collingsworth officiating.
Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Charles Larry Caraway

Mr. Charles Larry Caraway, 59, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, in Pensacola.
Mr. Caraway was a native of Atmore, former long time resident of Rabun and had resided in McCullough for the past four years. Mr. Caraway was a loving and devoted worker and family man. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Lou Biles.
He is survived by his father, Charles Caraway of Tensaw, Ala; two daughters, Christy Caraway and Chasity Caraway, both of Atmore; two brothers, Terry Caraway of McCullough and Tim Caraway of Poarch; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Everette officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Joel Wesley Smith

Mr. Joel Wesley Smith passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2013. He was born on September 9, 1931, to parents Chester Brown Smith and Janie Barrow Smith of Castleberry, AL.
Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 57 years, Opal Virginia Odom Smith who made their home in the Atmore area since 1947, where they owned and operated Smith’s Small Engines on South Main Street, in Atmore. Joel remained in his home in Canoe after Opal’s death in 2006 until a recent lengthy hospital stay.
Joel and Opal were preceded in death by their oldest daughter, Linda Gayle Smith Phillips, of Pensacola; and are survived by a son, Lavon Wesley Smith ( Cynthia) of Cantonment and daughter, Janet Smith McCullough ( Randy) of Chapel Hill, NC. They have eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was the last survivor of ten siblings.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Earl Harrison of The Church of the Living God, where Joel attended for several years. Eastside Chapel of Atmore will handle funeral arrangements for the service on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 2 p.m.
Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens on Highway 31 in Atmore.
Family will receive visitors on Friday, November 29, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Eastside Chapel.

Jesse Eugene Wamsley

Jesse Eugene Wamsley, 68, of Flomaton, went Home to the Angels on Saturday, November 23, 2013.
Mr. Wamsley was born November 6, 1946, in Maysville, Kentucky and was raised by his grandparents, Ida and Jesse Wamsley on their sawmill. He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Army as a truck driver for four years. He was member of the VFW and he was a truck driver.
Mr. Wamsley is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Betty Wamsley; stepchildren, Wanda Copeland and Anthony Bingham, both of Pensacola; grandchildren, Tommy & Robyn Bingham, Johnny Hockett, Chris Bingham, Valerie Bingham and Alan Bingham; great-grandchildren, Mollie Hockett, Ava and Christian Bingham, Aleena Grozsanoff, Nicholas Simmons, Zachariah Ponder and Eric Mathis. He is also survived by his sister, Debbie Nichols and two daughters, April Wamsley and Andra Large all of Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at 1:15 p.m. at the Barrancas National Cemetery with Chaplin Ken Griffin officiating.

Mr. Michael Wayne Jordan, 41, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013, in Mobile.
Mr. Jordan was a native of Atmore and has resided in Midland City, AL most of his life. He is preceded in death by Cecil Jordan and grandparents, Jenkins Montgomery Jordan, Oanzy Warren Jordan and Evins Robert Hadley.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his mother, Tonya Hadley of Dothan and Atmore; one brother, Tony (Jessica) Burt of Bay Minette; grandmother, Cathy Baker of Cottonwood, AL and special friends, Shirley Jordan Turner, Tonya Jordan, Anthony Jordan, Misty Barber and Jackie Harrison all of Atmore and Ricky Hatton of Dothan, AL.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Hughes Cobb, 53, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013, in Atmore.
Mrs. Cobb was a native of Atmore, former resident of Warner Robbins, Georgia and had resided in Atmore most of her life.
She is survived by her two sons, Thomas B. (Mandy) Davis of Davisville, and James Darell McNeil Jr. of Warner Robbins, GA; four daughters, Shauna (Mikey) Harrelson of Atmore, Amy (Maurico) Alvearda of Warner Robbins, GA, Stephanie McNeil of Warner Robbins, GA and Natasha “Joy” McNeil of Tony, AL; three brothers, Danny Ray (Deborah) Hughes of Atmore, Wesley Lee (Wanda) Hughes of Atmore and Richard Anthony (Deneen) Hughes of Perdido; two sisters, Joyce Marie (Roger) Harrelson of Brewton and Cheryl Jane Harris of Atmore; and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.
Burial was in at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Gladys Susannah “Sue” Cummings Uebelsteadt

Gladys Susannah “Sue” Cummings Uebelsteadt, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.
Sue was born July 23, 1932, in Milton to Charles and Mary Cummings. She worked as a drawtwist operator at Solutia and retired after 26 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Pete Uebelsteadt; her mother, Mary Eunice Cummings and her father, Charles Alexander Cummings.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail (Bob) Summerlin, Sharon Sweeting, Bonnie (Skip) Gibson, Pam (Larry) Thomas and Becky (David) Waits; her son, David (Carmen) Uebelsteadt; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Zachary Fleming, Jason Fleming, Aaron Waits and Chris Uebelsteadt.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Faith Chapel North.

William David “Bill” Fuqua

William David “Bill” Fuqua, 84, of Cantonment, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013. Bill was born in Aliceville, AL in 1929. He played football for Mississippi Southern College in 1948 and for the First United States Air Force Team in 1950 and 1951. He went into the Air Force in 1948 where he served until 1952 as a military policeman. Bill was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cantonment. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He spent 30 years working in interior designing specializing in Williamsburg designs. Bill loved cars. Bill will also be remembered as an avid Crimson Tide Fan. ROLL TIDE!!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Howard Fuqua and Katy Lucie Ann Evans Fuqua; sisters, Ruth, Ruby, Ollie and Martha and his brothers, Lewis and Lloyd.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jennie Fuqua; two sons, Bill Fuqua Jr. and wife Julie, Jack Fuqua and wife Sherri; grandsons, Justin and Jonathan; granddaughters, Elyce, Nikki, and Alex; two great-grandsons, Calvin and Nolan; brothers, Ernest, Edward and James; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, with the funeral service to begin at 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Dr. Will Stone will be officiating.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Sunnenberg and the staff of Covenant Hospice for their compassionate care.
