Beryl Elizabeth Dunn Robinson

Beryl Elizabeth Dunn Robinson, 84 of Atmore, went to be with the Lord and her other loved ones Saturday, March 08, 2014, at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dothan, AL. Beryl was born June 28, 1929, in Baldwin County, to the late Clyde and Lizzie Dunn. She is also preceded in death by husband, Marshall Robinson; sister Clydine Waltman; and brothers Mack, Jack, and Malvin Dunn.

Survivors include son, Ron (Rose) Cooper of Dothan; daughter, Faye (Doug) Owens of Hilliard, OH; granddaughters Debbie Bennett, Sharilyn Owens, and Robin Braswell; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 14, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church in Atmore.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brooks Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund or to a charity of your choice.

Joe William Acreman

Joe William Acreman left this life on earth for heaven to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 7, 2014. He was born in Crenshaw County, AL to the late Hattie Lee and William Henry Acreman on May 26, 1933. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Buster, Horace, Sam and Bascom and five sisters, Alice Cox, Willie Mae Owens, Zula Taunton, Pearline Tompkins, and Odie Lee Cox; brother-in-law, Max Mott and mother and father-in-law, AZ and Blanche Mott.

Mr. Acreman is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sara Anne Mott Acreman and daughter, Amy Jo Acreman Bates and her husband, Thomas and his grandson, Brandon Bates.

He served in the United States Army in Korea. He worked for the Department of Defense at Corry Station and NAS Mainside for 30 years.He was a faithful member of East Brent Baptist Church for over 35 years and a member of Adult 7 Men’s Sunday School class. Joe loved bass fishing, boating and many outdoor activities. He was a loving husband and wonderful father, father-in-law and PawPaw.

Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Monday, March 10, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at East Brent Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating.

Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday school class and Sunday School Department.

Leslie Jackson “L.J.” Crutchfield

Leslie Jackson “L.J.” Crutchfield, Jr. 89, of Atmore, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Bay Minette. He was born October 19, 1925, to the late Leslie Jackson and Lula Bell Myrick Crutchfield, Sr. He was a WWII veteran and served in the Pacific on the U.S. New York. He had retired from Civil Service where he had worked at Brookley Field and NAS, Pensacola. He attended The Church of the Living God in Atmore. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jewel McNeil Crutchfield, second wife, Frances Odom Crutchfield; and one brother, Melvin Crutchfield.

He is survived by his son, Larry E. (Pennie) Crutchfield of Warner Robins, GA; and daughter Melanie Bell (Kim) Crocker of Riviera, TX; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton.

Visitation will Monday, March 10, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Ethel Lucille Madison Gross

Celebration of Ethel Lucille Madison Gross, 90 transitioned from this life on earth to her Heavenly home where she will be reunited with her parents, William Howard and Ida Williams Madison, her husband, Luther, and two sisters and five brothers. She was formerly of Atmore but staying with one of her daughters in Pensacola and passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014. She was born in Monroe County on January 20, 1924.

She was a member of Poarch Creek Indians, Atmore Quilting Club, a former member of Presley Street Baptist Church and a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two daughters, Sherry (Glenn) Schaeffer and Sheila (Michael) Byrd all of Pensacola; one sister, Eloise (William “Bill”) Younce of Millington, TN; three grandchildren, James Byrd of Pace, Jennifer Lay of Pensacola and Lisa Muccillo of Cincinnati, OH; and five great-grandchildren, Blake Duvall, Maddox Lay, Parker Byrd, Kaylee Byrd, Kristen Byrd, and Harper Muccillo.

Services will be Monday, March 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Lt. Col. Charles Andrew Lambert

March 7, 2014

Lt. Col. Charles Andrew Lambert, 76, born in Vocation, Ala., on June 27, 1937, passed away March 1, 2014, in the Covenant Hospice Wing at West Florida Hospital. He was a graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, MS and Florida State University. He also graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff School. He was employed by Gulf Power Company for 25 years (Public Relations), Pensacola News Journal, Historic Pensacola Preservation Board and the Playground Daily News in Fort Walton Beach. He was a Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserves, 361st Brigade for 30 years. He was assigned to the Pentagon for various tours of duty.

He was active in Boy Scouts of America for many years. He would proudly say all three of his sons excelled to become Eagle Scouts. He was also a past president of the American Cancer Society, Pensacola Chapter, Pensacola Chamber of Commerce and Florida State Alumni Booster Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lilla Lambert; youngest son, Todd Anthony Lambert; and sister, Joyce Westmark.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda J. Lambert; sons, Dr. Mark Andrew and his wife, Pamela and their daughter, Isabella; Charles Douglas Lambert and his wife, Karen and their daughter, Sarah Elizabeth.

Charles lived in Molino, on Sunny Hill Farm, a horse farm with his wife, Linda, for 30 years. He faithfully attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was an avid Florida State football fan. He like to run/walk and he accomplished the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC on November 1, 1981.

The three loves in his life were: God first, family second and his country third; however, a very close first would have to be his Florida State football team. He lived just long enough to see the Seminoles reclaim the BCC Natinonal Championship.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Spiva, Ed Addison, Gordon Van Mol, Jodey Harper, Steve Salter, Don Patterson, Tommy Cushing, Wayne Westmark, Jay Westmark, David Westmark and Dale Powell.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at NAS Chapel with Pastor Jim Reece and Pastor Pat Mobley officiating.

Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Covenant Hospice, West Florida Care Center, 3 North, 8383 North Davis Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32514 or the Alzheimer’s Association.

David Allen Wingard

David Allen Wingard, 63 of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in Talladaga, Ala. He had worked at Wingard’s Jewelry Store as a jeweler. He was born in Atmore on June 29, 1950, to John Graham and Margaret Garrett Wingard. He was a graduate of Escambia County High School.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Graham Wingard; and sister, Linda Siders.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Margaret Wingard Banks of Atmore; two sons, John David Wingard of Jacksonville, FL and  Cody Wingard of Fort Collins, Colorado; one daughter, Michelle Wingard of Milton; and one brother, John Larry Wingard of Albaster, AL.

Services will be Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Peggy Gibson Fowler

Mrs. Peggy Gibson Fowler, 74, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Pensacola.

Mrs. Fowler was a native of Walnut Hill and a resident of Bratt since 1962. Mrs. Fowler was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended the Bratt First Baptist Church. Two sons, Pat Fowler and Tim Fowler, parents, O.D. and Ruby Gibson and one brother, Otis Gibson, precede her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dewey Fowler of Brat; one son, Harvey (Marie) Fowler of Monroeville, AL; one daughter, Tammy Fowler (Jeremy) Raybon of Excel, AL; daughter-in-law, Sue Kitzinger (Mike) of Camden, AL; four brothers, Leo (Janice) Gibson of Caldwell, OH, Billy (Sue) Gibson of Pace, Leon Gibson of McCullough, AL and Gary Gibson of McCullough, AL; five sisters, Audrey (Joe) Ward of Gonzalez, Nola (James) Burnham of Mossey Head, FL, Linda (Ronnie) Hickman of Caldwell, OH, Julia Foster of McCullough, AL and Joyce Neuss of Huntsville, AL; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 6-9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Joseph Colvin Davis

Joseph Colvin Davis, 79 of Bratt, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in Pensacola. He retired from Monsanto-Solutia as a fireman. He loved farming, was an avid hunter fisherman and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bratt. He was born in Atmore on October 03, 1934, to the late Joseph Lee and Agnes Myrtle Merritt Davis.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Elton Davis.

He is survived his wife of 59 yrs, Lavelle Faircloth Davis of Bratt; daughter, Debbie Hester of Bratt; son, Tommy (Maria) Davis of Enon; three grandsons, Hunter (Mandy) Davis, Chase (Kelly) Davis and Cory Hester; great-grandson, Hudson Davis; sister, Carolyn (Aaron) Steele; and many nieces and nephews, church family and friends.

Family will receive friends Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delbert Redditt and Rev. Tim Hawsey officiating.

Burial will follow in Godwin Cemetery.

Samuel Carl Turk

March 5, 2014

Mr. Samuel Carl Turk, age 79, of Hurley, MS passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at George County Regional Hospital in Lucedale, MS.

Mr. Turk was a native of Flomaton, but had been a resident of Hurley for the past seven years coming from Gautier, MS. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Trevor Kitchens of Hurley, MS; and daughter, Judy Smith of Flomaton.

He is survived by his sons, John L. Turk of Hurley, MS, Jesse L. Turk of Flomaton and Jimmy L. (Tessa) Turk of Van Cleave, MS; daughter, Joana Turk of Hurley, MS; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in the Stanley Cross Roads Community with Rev. Carl Wilson officiating.

Betty Sue (Mackie) Lee McPherson

Betty Sue (Mackie) Lee McPherson, 77, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her home in Walnut Hill. She was born on December 23, 1936, at her family’s home in Huxford, which was located about one mile from where she will be buried next to her husband. She graduated from Flomaton High School where she entered the twelfth grade at age 16. Under the age of 17, she held a part-time job at Anderson’s Department Store. She also held positions at the  Telephone Company, Watson Hardware, Chemstrand (where she met her husband, Mack, in 1954), and First National Bank. She retired from First National Bank in 1983. Her life centered around her husband, Charles, and son, Larry, and his family. Her grandchildren were the love of her life, and she thoroughly enjoyed the blessings she received through the lives of these two. She and Mack visited her parents most every Sunday afternoon. She was part of a large family that enjoyed being together. Where you saw Mack, you saw Betty Sue; they were truly soul mates.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 58 years, Charles W. McPherson; and her parents, Noah E. and Daisey Wade Lee.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Mary) McPherson; two grandchildren, Patrick Wayne McPherson and Charleigh Victoria McPherson; her brothers, John J. Everette Lee, Paul E. (Everlene) Lee, and Samuel T. (Shirley) Lee; and her sisters, Mary L. Lee (Jesse) Lassiter, Faye Lee (Winston) Godwin, and Margie N. Lee (Vernon) Parker.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Huxford Community of Christ Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Huxford Community of Christ Church with Elders Cary Gilbert and Glenn Waldrop officiating.

Interment will follow at Huxford Community of Christ Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Steve Godwin, Donald Lee, Tim Lee, Doug Black, Darby Black, and Larry Pope.
