Wayne Enfinger

Wayne Enfinger, age 63 of Jay, passed away on March 22, 2014. Wayne resided in Jay most of his life. He was very passionate about his occupation as a house painter, painting many homes and businesses in Jay and the surrounding areas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping until his health declined, not allowing him to enjoy those activities. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Wayne never met a stranger and was always happy to see old friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Odell Enfinger; mother, Nina Enfinger; brother, David Enfinger and an infant daughter.
He is survived by his son, Phillip (Dara) Enfinger; daughter, Stacie (Ryan) McKinley; grandchildren, Hannah McKinley, Devin Enfinger, Jackson McKinley, Brittany Lewis, and Alyssa McKinley and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.
Services will begin at 6 p.m. with Brother Earle Greene officiating services.

Ellen Sims Ard

Mrs. Ellen “Sims” Ard, 92, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, in Pensacola.
Mrs. Ard was a native of Huxford and a resident of McDavid since 1944. Mrs. Ard was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved to sew and quilt and attended the Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church. Husband of 52 years, Luther Ard and all her siblings precedes her in death.
She is survived by his two sons, Albert Ard of McDavid and Melvin Ard of McDavid; one daughter, Janet Walker of McDavid; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Chancery, Wes Chancery, Tyler Walker, Ryan Walker, A.J. Walker and Michael Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Steadham, Danny Steadham, Jeff Steadham, Dalton Steadham, Lee Jernigan and Alfred Jernigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Covenant Hospice Inpatient Residence.

Ilene Margaret Dukes Cook

Mrs. Ilene Margaret Dukes Cook, 60, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, in Century.
Mrs. Cook was a native of Georgiana, Alabama and a resident of Century since 1992. Mrs. Ilene spent four years serving her country for the U.S. Navy, 15 years as a legal secretary, and owned and operated the local Century Tobacco Shop for 6 years. Mrs. Ilene was a kind and generous woman. She made friends easily and touched many people’s lives. She was a nurturing mother, who always put her children first. Her husband, Michael T. Cook; mother, Margaret Levin Jones; and her father, Marvie Lee Dukes precede her in death.
Survivors include her two daughters, Niki Cook and Robin Cook both of Century and one grandchild, Thomas Henry Clark of Century.
Graveside services will be Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Beulah Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Travis Roberson, Gary Paul, Jimmy Dubose, Austin Wiggins, William Covan and Jason Covan.

Annie Priscilla Howell Beasley

Annie Priscilla Howell Beasley, 87, of McDavid, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, in Atmore. She was a homemaker, born in Geneva, AL on May 11, 1926, to the late John Oscar and Annie Wright Howell.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray A. Beasley, Sr.; three brothers; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Beasley.
Survivors include her two sons, Ralph (Janie) Beasley of Bratt and Ray Beasley, Jr., of Loxley; two daughters, Raeanne (Jimmy) Long of Robertsdale and Gloria (Robert) Gilman of Bratt; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be James Robert Gilman, Phillip Gilman, Ray Beasley, III, Jerry Sheppard, James E. Gilman, Robert Gilman.

Johnny Watson Whitehurst, a lifetime resident of Cantonment, died March 13, 2014, in Cantonment. He was a retired member of International Brotherhood of Electrical L.U. 676 workers. He was known as “Uncle J” to family, friends and strangers alike. He was an avid fisherman of the Perdido River and touched many lives with his outgoing and giving personality. He will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace “Bubba”. I Love You Daddy.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina Brooke Whitehurst; mother, Edna Whitehurst; father, Johnny Whitehurst, Sr.; sisters, Cathy Garett and Cindy Clark; nephews, Nicholas Clark, Ryan Clark, Zachary Clark, Shaine Garrett and Jordan Garrett; his niece, Ashley Clark; great-nephew, Nicholas Chase Clark and great-niece, Baby Khloie ElizabethGarrett.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,March 18, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Interment was at CloptonCemetery.

Mr. Elgia Uriah Petty, 74, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Navy Ship, Saipan.
Mr. Petty was a native of Pensacola and was a resident of Navy Ship, Saipan. Mr. Petty was a U.S. Marine and Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a millwright and worked in the oil fields for various oil companies around the Flomaton and Jay area. He was a graduate of Century High School, where he was star athlete. His parents, Dr. Bill and Nell Petty; two daughters, Tina Petty and Anita Petty and Prentiss mother, Julia Lowery Petty, precede him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Prentiss (David) Greene of Sylvester, GA; two brothers, Basil (Myung Ja) Petty of Warrior, AL and Joe M. Petty of Bogia; two sisters, Marion (Ronnie) Stedmen of Flomaton and Donna Fillmore of Flomaton; five grandchildren, Nichole (Ryan) Walker of Ellaville, GA, Shawn Greene of Albany, GA, Allison Green of Atlanta, GA, Samuel Colbert of Monroeville and Ashley Green of Sylvester, GA and one great-great grandchild, Julia Suzanne Walker of Ellaville, GA.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Harlan Spencer officiating.

Ruth C. Lehmann

Loving mother and grandmother, Ruth C. Lehmann, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19. Ruth, who was a Chicago native, worked as a registered nurse for 40 years. Ruth always had a smile in her face and had a beautiful singing voice. She was active in her church and made a positive difference every where she went. Ruth had a compassionate heart and the ability to see beauty in everything. Ruth resided in Cantonment for the past 20 years.
She is survived by two children, Linnea and George; five grandchildren, Lance, Rachel, Don, Eddie and Sandy. Extended family resides in Minnesota and Michigan.
The family would like to thank The Homestead Village for their genuine care.

Luther Franklin Fails, Jr., 62, of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Atmore. He was employed by Brantley’s Tires both in Monroeville and Atmore. He was born in Monroe County on December 24, 1951 to the late Luther Franklin and Tennie Crawford Fails, Sr.
He is survived by two sons, Franklin D. (Amanda Hogue) Fails of Atmore, and Freddie (Mandy) Fails of Huxford; one brother, Donnie (Patricia) Fails of Atmore; four sisters, Mary Dow and Earline Byrd, both of Atmore, Cornelia Mills of Crestview, and Aline Kirby of Evergreen; grandchildren, Frankie and Jesse Fails, Danielle Fails and Anna Hogue.
Services will be Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Odom officiating.

Nathan Nall

Nathan Nall, 82, of Nokomis, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his residence. He owned and operated the Nokomis Trailer Park for many years. He was born in Bratt to the late John Henry and Letitia Conway Nall. He was the State Constable for 16 years in the Nokomis area, served in the U.S. Airforce during 1950-1954, retired from Monsanto 1955-1987, and was a member of the Nokomis Baptist Church. He was a avid fishermen, loved flowers and yard work.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Donnie Ree Nall.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Dorothy Albritton Nall of Atmore; two sons, Norman (Jewell) Lambert, Sr. of Perdido, and Stephen (Lucille) Nall of Lebanon, TN; one daughter, Rhonda (Joey) Kelmer of Nokomis, Ala.; four brothers, Felix Nall of Perry, FL, Dewey Nall and Donald Nall, both of Huxford and Narvez Nall of Washington; three sisters, Juanita Williams of Pensacola, Martez Brockman of Virginia, and Jeanette Markham of Connecticut; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor George W. Marlowe officiating.
Interment will follow in Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Montez “Stacey” Dreadin, 76, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, in Flomaton.
Mrs. Dreadin was a native of Range, Alabama and a resident of Flomaton since 1987. Mrs. Dreadin was a former Vanity Fair employee, was a great cook and attended the Atmore Baptist Temple. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur & Nathalee Stacey; one brother, Arthur A. Buck Stacey; and seven sisters, Aline Crutchfield, Sallie Howington, Marjorie Woods, Irene Raines, Cricket Stacey, Alice Gorum and Berba Stacey.
She is survived by her husband, Fairrel Dreadin of Flomaton; two sons, Wayne Burnett of Mobile and Keith (Linda) Dreadin of Dothan, AL; four daughters, Theresea (Johnny) Allen of Flomaton, Linda (David) Hadley of Atmore, Wanda Burnett of Dothan, AL and Kathy (William) Ross of Elgin, Scotland; one sister, Ethel Padgett Long of Flomaton; 11 grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
