Dorothy Forsythe

Dorothy Forsythe was born in Barrineau Park on January 5, 1935, and passed away Monday, April 28, 2014.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Millard and Fannie Bell Smith Bryant; husband, John Alvin Forsythe; brother, Raymond Ross Bryant; and daughter, Susan Jarrell.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Randy Forsythe, Gary Forsythe, Phil Crow, Janet Shelton, and John Forsythe; sister-in-law, Sandra Bryant; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Clear Springs Cemetery in Robertsdale.

Mary Alice Fulgham, 90, of Cantonment, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014. Mrs. Fulgham loved to cook country style meals. She was a kind and loving person who was very soft spoken. When her children were small she made a lot of their clothing. She also made quilts for her family and friends. One of her favorite hobbies was fishing with her husband and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Grover Fulgham; grandson, Johnny Ray Clark; parents, Eddie and Lillie Booth; brothers, James and Marvin Booth; and her sisters, Mae Hart and Doris Herbert.
She is survived by her daughter, Merona Clark; granddaughter, Betty (David) Fuller; sister, Maxine Perkins; half-brother, Henry Herbert; great-grandchildren, Shawn Fuller and Shannon Fuller; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Bill, Stevie, James, Gary, Ben and Robbie.
Services were held Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
Interment was at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Ronnie Dale “RD” Powell

Mr. Ronnie Dale “RD” Powell, 38, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014, in Atmore.
Mr. Powell was a native and former resident of Atmore and had resided in Marianna for the past three years. Mr. Powell was an employee of Nelson Shipyard in Panama City. Mr. Powell liked old Chevy trucks and was an avid Alabama football and Nascar fan. His grandparents, Red & Ruby Powell; cousins, Mitzi Powell and Harold Scott; and aunts and uncles, Ricky Powell, Charlie Powell, Janice Powell, LeRoy Powell and Judy Scott precede him in death.
He is survived by his mother, Katie & Elvis Presley of Atmore; wife, Nicole “Nicci” Powell of Marianna; two sons, Tristian and T.J., both of Marianna; two daughters, Destiny Powell and Abbygale Powell, both of Marianna; one brother, Kenny Powell of Atmore; and two nieces, Oliva Powell and Cloey Powell, both of Atmore.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Diane Everette officiating.
Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 10 a.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ron Marshall, Steve Fulmer, Tommy Emmerson, Jeff Gunn, Kenny Powell and Blaine Jeter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Smith, Perry Joe Buckhault, Billy Scott, Michael Pruett, Jerry Casey and Melvin Kendrick.

Minnie Ruth Cole Marshall

Minnie Ruth Cole Marshall, 94 of Atmore, passed away April 28, 2014, in Atmore. She will be long remembered as a perfectionist seamstress. She was born in Escambia County on September 10, 1919, to the late James Anderson and Ida Pearl Simmons Cole. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of over 67 years and was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was the youngest of seven children of James and Ida Pearl Cole.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Earl Marshall; son, Franklin Earl Marshall; and one son-in-law, Roy Burkett.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Ruth Marshall Burkett of Atmore; four grandchildren, Christy Burkett (David) Neff of Atmore, Jason Eric Burkett of Tallahassee, Jeffrey Scott Marshall of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Amanda Leigh Hogue of Brewton; four great-grandchildren, Lisa Coleen Neff of Ft. Collins, Col., Anna Shealyn Hogue, Amber Lee Carpenter Marshall and Bradley Scott Marshall, all of Brewton; two great-great-grandchildren, Gabriel Lee Carpenter and Mason Conner Carpenter of Flomaton.
Services will be Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Diane Everette and Rev. Jim Thorpe officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m until 8 p.m.

Mattie Lou Sheffield

Mattie Lou Sheffield, age 86, of McDavid, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, in Atmore. She was a homemaker born in Century, on December 17, 1927, to the late Bert Louis and Edith Dunlap Godwin. Ms. Sheffield was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by siblings, Louise Walker, AnnaLee Woolett, David Godwin, Joseph Godwin, Susie Wise, Mazie Hawthorne and James Godwin.
Survivors are her children, Van and Barbara Sheffield of Milton; William Sheffield of McDavid; Robert and Faye Sheffield of Gainesville; Missy and Elton Gilmore of McDavid; Elaine Johnson of Pace; Sam and Anita Sheffield of Tallahassee; sisters, Irene McPherron of Washington state; Vicky Jordan of Century; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Brown officiating.
Burial was at McCurdy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric Gilmore, Matthew Gilmore, Ben Gilmore, Shawn Johnson, Derek Johnson, and Dennis Jordan.

Ada Eyvonne Strickland Stokes

Ada Eyvonne Strickland Stokes, 80 of Atmore, passed away Saturday, April 26,2014, at her residence. She was retired from Vanity Fair Mills as a machine operator, born in Marengo County, Ala., to the late Alex and Erma L. Huckabee Strickland, Jr. on December 15, 1933.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Houston Stokes; children, Barbara and Kirby Bance Burgett; and sister, Mary Etheridge.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph M. Burgett and Randy C. Burgett; two step-sons, Houston Johnny Stokes and George M. Dodds; one daughter, Myra L. Bray; three step-daughters, Joyce Morrell, Rhonda Paul and Donna Bruks; one brother, David O. Strickland; five sisters, Thelma Phillips, Nell Pugh, Shirley Stokley, Beatrice Baggett and Alice Craver; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, April 28, 2014, at Presley Street Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Robert Allen Bullard

Retired FWBFD Battalion Chief, Robert Allen Bullard, 51, of Beulah, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Thursday, April 24, 2014.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was an active member of Olive Baptist Church, battalion chief, paramedic and fire fighter for over 27 years. During his long career at Ft. Walton Beach Fire Department he was instrumental in starting the Advanced Life Support program that has undoubtedly saved many lives over the years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arline Bullard.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Bullard of 31 years, son, Jonathan (Martha) Bullard, grandson, Jaden Bullard, daughter, Brandy Bullard and 11 siblings: Mary (Patrick) Green, Janet (Tom) Kerfien, John (Pamela) Bullard, Walter Bullard, Marilyn Lewis, Bonnie Williams, Rachel (Larry) DeMass, Patty (Joe) Wood, Daniel (Tammy) Bullard, Roy (Melissa) Bullard, and Edith (Brian) Santos.
Visitation will be at Faith Chapel North Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Olive Baptist Church at 11 a.m. after a 10 a.m. viewing Monday, April 28, 2014.

Martez Gilmore Dortch, age 82, of Bratt, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, in Atmore. She was a homemaker, born in McDavid on September 03, 1931, to the late Fred and Carol Ray Gilmore. Ms. Martez was a dedicated mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress and active community volunteer for many years. Ms. Dortch was a member of the Bratt First Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, J.C. Dortch; siblings, Gerald Gilmore, Lillian Shaw, Roy Gilmore, Glen Gilmore, Louise Green, and Johnny Gilmore.
Survivors are her children, June & Roberto Valenzuela of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Randy and Sue Dortch of Bratt, Billy and JoAnn Dortch of Cantonment, Mark and Sheila Dortch of Bratt, Tim and Gabby Dortch of Nokomis (Fla) and Kristie and Steve Gibson of Bratt; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be Monday, April 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Delbert Redditt and Bro. Tim Hawsey officiating.
Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Eleanor Faye Anderson 88, of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in Atmore. She was born in Andalusia to the late Andrew E. and Mattie Deloris Williams Anderson. She was a graduate of Andalusia High School, Troy State University and attended Auburn University. She taught school at Baldwin County, W.S. Neal, Flomaton and 31 years in Atmore. She was a pink lady at Atmore Community Hospital, a member of The First Baptist Church of Atmore and taught Sunday School to the homebound.
She is survived by her nephews Robert S. Anderson of Andalusia; William Daulton Anderson and James Foster Anderson both of Atmore; and nieces Vickie Lane Anderson and Donna Kay Rawson both of Pensacola; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 1 p.m. from the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Foster Anderson, III; David Anderson; Chris Kaiser; John Dixon and Bill Hostetler.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Oscar Wayne Conley passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2014, while working in Tampa.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Lewie Hubbard Conley and Susie Irene Thigpen; and brother, Henry Conley.
Pat traveled all over the United States and used his wit and personality to get along with people from all walks of life. Pat was definitely a people person who loved his friends and his Florida State Seminoles.
Pat is survived by his daughter, DeeDee (Tommy) Mitchell; son, Louie (Jessie Rae) Conley; three grandchildren, Aunika, Jackson, and Taylor; brother, Bill (Dawn) Conley; and sisters, Ellen (Dave) McGahan and Sharon (Larry) Pugh.
A memorial service was held on April 18, 2014, at Jay Funeral Home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Autrey and Shirley Owens for all their help in putting this memorial together.
