Arva Ruth Fore

Mrs. Arva Ruth Fore, age 84 of Flomaton, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Baptist Hospital.
Mrs. Fore was a native of Byrneville and a member of the Flomaton community since 1954. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Escambia Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Odell Fore and sisters, Evelyn Dawson and Edith Killiam.
Survivors include her sons, Tommy Rex (Ann) Fore of Brewton, Tony Robert (Becky) Fore of Flomaton, Roger Eric (Charlene) Fore of Snellville, GA; daughter, Wanda Ruth (Timothy) Faulk of Dothan; sisters, Aleene Tubbs of Gadsden, AL, and Wynetta Boutwell of Flomaton; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 16, 2014, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Timothy Faulk officiating.
Interment was in Little Escambia Cemetery in Flomaton.
Pallbearers were Richard Fore, Ryan Fore, Kevin Faulk, Robbie Fore, Trent Sutton, Nicholas Sutton.

Connie Elizabeth Graves Sheffield

Mrs. Connie Elizabeth Graves Sheffield, age 78, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in a Century health care facility.
Mrs. Sheffield was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton. She Attended Divine Temple, and was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte (Wayne) Radford of Reidsville, NC and Cynthia “Cindy” (Byron) Smith of Brewton; three grandchildren, Jeremy Radford, Avery Radford, and Roxanne Goodman; and six great-grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Smith, Austin Radford, Christian Radford, Caleb Goodman, Caden Goodman, and Adalyn Goodman.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 15, 2016, from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. Wilbur Graves officiating.
Interment was in Beulah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charlie Graves, Jason Gleaton, Chip Hines, Dean Hitchcock, Samuel Frazier, and Patrick Davenport.
Cheryl Anne McFarlain Peebles

Mrs. Cheryl Anne McFarlain Peebles, age 51 of Flomaton, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014.
Mrs. Peebles was a native of Orange, TX, a resident of Pensacola for a number of years and of Flomaton for the past five years coming from Greenville, SC. She was a veteran of the Army National Guard where she was a Medical Specialist and earned the Army Service Ribbon and Marksman Qualifications Badge. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant Coordinator. Mrs. Peebles was preceded in death by her brother, Shelby Jules McFarlain, Jr.
Survivors include her father, Shelby Jules McFarlain, Sr. of Flomaton; her mother, Barbara Guidy McFarlain of Pensacola; husband, Jeff Peebles of Greenville, SC; sons, Tyler Peebles and Shelby Peebles, both of Flomaton; sisters, Veronica (John Colvin) McFarlain of Cantonment, Pamela (Kenny Accord) McFarlain of Pensacola, and Theresa (Todd) Bradshaw of Houston, TX; nieces, nephews and numerous other family members.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel.

Betty Conn Johnson

Betty Conn Johnson, 80, of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Atmore. She was a beautician, born in Greenville, AL, on August 14, 1933, to the late Grady and Berta Lou Henderson Lunsford.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Harold C. Conn and Dudley V. Johnson; and son, James Johnson.
Survivors are her son, Hal Johnson of Atmore; step-son, Pat Conn of Atmore; and grandson, Nick Johnson of Canoe.
Graveside services will be Friday May 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Linnie Virginia Miller Strickland

Linnie Virginia Miller Strickland, born June 11, 1945, in Corpus Christi, TX passed away, Wednesday, April 30, 2014. She was the beloved wife of 53 years of David O. Strickland Sr. sh was the loving mother of Keith D. Strickland and the late David O. Strickland, Jr; mother-in-law of Angelia Strickland; grandmother of Amanda and David A. Strickland; niece of Dorothy Berman and sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.
Linnie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She spent many hours volunteering in her community and the church she loved. She was a court appointed special advocate for the Juvenile Court. Linnie worked at Vanity Fair and ITT Financial as a supervisor. She was also a volunteer at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. Her family and friends will continue to celebrate her life.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 1 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Grindle officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014, from11:30 a.m. until service time from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

Nora Sarmiento Lambe

Nora Sarmiento Lambe, age 86, of Cantonment, went to be with her Lord and husband on May 2, 2014. She was born in Manila, Philippines on August 31, 1927. She graduated from the Philippine Women’s University with a B.A. in social work and received her M.A. in theology from Scarritt College for Christian workers prior to embarking on a 30-year career as a senior social work supervisor for the State of California in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nora was a member of the Eastern Star, the United Methodist Women, The Prayer Shawl Ministry and an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church (UMC) in Pensacola.
Survivors include her daughter, Vita Alina (Lambe) Tibbs; stepsons, Donald Gary Lambe and Larry Albert Lambe; sister, Ruth Sarmiento Banados; granddaughters, Rachel Nicole Tibbs and Kaela Alyssa Tibbs; son-in-law, Charles Wint Tibbs and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on May 10, 2014, at St. Luke UMC-Pensacola with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.
After the memorial service, Nora will be interred beside her husband, Donald Lambe, in the columbarium garden.
St. Luke UMC, East Nine Mile Road, is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Earl Simmons

Mr. Robert Earl Simmons, age 54 of McDavid, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in Pensacola.
Mr. Simmons was a native and lifetime resident of Century, where he worked in the construction industry. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Simmons; brother, Ronnie Simmons; and wife, Teresa Moore.
He is survived by his mother, Vera Simmons of Century; son, Nathan A Mack of McDavid; daughter, Sarah Moore of Century and step-daughter, Jacqueline (Billy) Moes of Jacksonville; brothers, Donnie Simmons of Century, Ricky Simmons of Brewton, David Simmons of Century, Bobby Simmons of Jay; sister, Carolyn Brown of Brewton; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Marshall officiating.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Simmons, Ricky Simmons, David Simmons, Bobby Simmons, Todd Smith, and Chester Stewart.

Chadwick “Chad” Burris

Mr. Chadwick “Chad” Burris, 27, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in Foley.
Mr. Burris was a native of Century and a resident of Bluff Springs for the past nine years. Mr. Burris was an employee of Armstrong World Industries and a graduate of Bartlett High School in Memphis, TN. He attended the Vision Church of Flomaton. His parents, Lisa Sigler and Chuck Burris III; and grandparents, Helen and Ezra McCraney precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley Burris of Bluff Springs; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Atha and Bobby Waller of Bratt; one son, Easton Ezra Burris of Bluff Springs; one brother, Ricky (Whitney) Burris of Flomaton; one sister, Heidi Burkett of Flomaton; and grandparents, Teen and Arnold Weaver of Bratt and Lois and Dick Burris of Memphis, TN.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 4, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Hart, Rev. Sam Weaver, and Rev. Eric Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Tommy Curl Saylor

Tommy Curl Saylor, 64, of Jay, died Wednesday April 30, 2014 at home. He was born to the late Quinton and Hattie Saylor on July 17, 1949, in Harlan, Kentucky, but raised in Rosspoint, Kentucky. Tommy graduated from Cawood High School in 1967 and enlisted in the United States Army. He did two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division of United States Army and received many accommodations which included three Bronze Stars and Purple Heart.
Upon returning home, he married Linda Louise Seals on July 22, 1972, in Harlan. They relocated to Pensacola where Tommy received two Associate Degrees from Pensacola Junior College. He worked for Naval Aviation Depot in Pensacola before being transferred to Cherry Point FRC East. In 2009, he retired after 38 years as a civil service employee.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Saylor; four children, Brooke Saylor of Havelock, N.C., Jenna (Jacob) Kimmis of New Bern, N.C., Adam Saylor of Havelock, N.C., and Matthew Saylor of Jay; and one grandchild, Thomas Kimmis. He is also survived by his sister, Audrey (Gerald) Morrison of Pensacola; sister-in-law, Brenda (Junior) Cox of Knoxville, TN, Sherry Bingham of Harlan, KY, and Jerry (Lola) Seals of Cawood, KY; and numerous loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2 p.m. for family and from 2 p.m. until service tim at 2:30 p.m. for close friends on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Berrydale Baptist Church in Jay.
Burial will be with military honors.
Family members, sons, and friends will serve as pallbearers.

James Berry “Red” Smith

James Berry “Red” Smith, 78, of Pensacola was born on July 21, 1935 in Bluff Springs and passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014.He was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired after 33 and a half years with Gulf Power Company. He was a member of IBEW and served his country with the US Marine Corps.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Zell Berry and Lucille Cooper Smith; and brothers, Jack Smith, Walter Smith, and Winegair Smith.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Carman Sue Walker Smith; sons, Randall James (Regina) Smith and David Barry (Denise) Smith; granddaughters, Patricia Lynn Smith, Sarah Katherine Smith, Jessica Alene Smith, and Jami Miranda Smith; and grandsons, Christopher Barry Smith and Cameron Spivey.
The family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home until service time at12:30 p.m.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at NAS Pensacola.
