Robert Leslie Bartley

Mr. Robert Leslie Bartley, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Atmore.
Mr. Bartley was a native of Walnut Hill, former resident of Pensacola and had resided in Christian Home since 1973. Mr. Bartley was a Korean War Veteran and an employee of American Linen. He is preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Bartley of Christian Home; three sons, Robert W. Bartley of Atmore, Troy Randall Bartley and Ricky Lynn Bartley, both of Christian Home; one daughter, Lorene (Belle) Whitmore of Christian Home; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Christian Home Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating.

Frank James Milstead

Frank James Milstead, 89, of Cantonment, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
Born of Creek Indian heritage in Uriah on November 8, 1924, to Jesse James and Almeda Woods Milstead, he spent most of his life in Cantonment. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and after discharge married Bessie Carolyn Silcox. They were married for 68 years. Frank was the last postmaster of the Muscogee post office and retired from Monsanto after 25 years.
He loved fishing, hunting, camping, enjoying nature, and spending time with family. He was a lifelong member of Disabled American Veterans and the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; children, Janis (Rob) Rose, Cathy Hébert, Frank (Deborah) Milstead, II, Chandra (Art) Dehnz and Steve (Karen) Milstead; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jessie Mae Fitch and Ruth Crutchfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
A visitation will be held for family and friends at the family home at 4 p.m. Friday, June 13, with the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Faith Chapel North.
Interment will be at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.

J.W. Philyaw, Sr.

J.W. Philyaw, Sr. 52 of Repton, passed away Monday June 9, 2014, in Brewton. He was a truck driver, born in Atmore on July 2, 1961, to the late John Lee and Dorothy Capers Philyaw.
Survivors are one son, J.W. Philyaw, Jr; two daughters, Dorthy K. Philyaw and Rosa Darlin Philyaw all of Repton; two brothers, William (Every) Philyaw and James Philyaw both of Century; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services will be Friday, June 13, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Janet Lee officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends, Friday June 13, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Archie Gerald Sellers

Mr. Archie Gerald Sellers, 82, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014, in Atmore.
Mr. Sellers was a native of Frisco City and a resident of Atmore for most of his life. Mr. Sellers owned and operated Sellers Electric. He attended the Church of the Living God. His wife, Cleo Sellers; grandson, Cody Brown; parents, John and Ruby Sellers; brothers, Charles and Raford Sellers; and sisters, Ervie Bray and Atha Hale precede him in death.
He is survived by his three daughters, Wanda (Chipper) Staff, Vickie Carrier and Sandra (Mark) Brown all of Atmore, AL; five grandchildren, Angela Leachman, Michelle Smith, Scott Fayard, Casey Fayard and Joshua Brown; three step-grandchildren, Kit Leachman, Jake Leachman and Haley Leachman; eight great-grandchildren; and caregivers, Mildred Edwards and Dorothy Roberson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Harrison and Rev. Don Davis officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Dean, Kelly Gunn, Ron Weinmann, Billy Rollin, Mike Digmon and Robert Harrison.

Elizabeth Ann Fisher

Elizabeth “Ann” Fisher, 69, of Cantonment passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014. She was known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren. Mrs. Fisher was an office manager for Rocky’s Pest Control where she had worked for over 30 years. She was the heart and soul of her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Melton and Ruby Sapp Charles; brothers, Melton Lavon Charles, William Edward Charles and Raymond Colan Charles; and sister, Mary Frances Charles.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years this September, Clark Fisher; children, Jeff Fisher and Lee Fisher; grandchildren, Jacob Fisher (Kellie) and Jessie Lee Fisher; great-grandchild, Kendal Fisher; siblings, Elaine Charles Zayatz (Frank) and Martha Jane Charles Martin (Richard); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research, Memphis, TN in Ann’s memory.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Rusty Branch officiating.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

James Thomas “Tommy” Godwin

James Thomas “Tommy” Godwin was born May 30, 1945, in Brewton and went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 3, 2014. Tommy graduated from Flomaton High School in 1963. He joined the US Air Force after high school and served until 1968. Upon returning home, he went to work for Gulf Power Company for the next 38 years. He was a proud pawpaw, and loved his grandchildren, fishing, and Alabama football.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kathy Godwin and his trusty sidekick, Hank; sons, Tony (Christina), Jason (Tamara) and Terry; grandchildren, Dylan, Kyle, and Kora; siblings, Faye (Barney) Williamson, Peggy Lail, Donald (Faye) Godwin and Darlene Nelson; father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Elaine Wiggins; and numerous loving family members and friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Mose and Bernice Godwin of Brewton; and his sister, Judy Burford of Axis, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the USO of Northwest Florida.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 9, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Pastor Gene Stokes will be officiating services.

Patricia Ann Moorer, 61, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Patricia was born January 25, 1953, in Cantonment and was a graduate of J.M. Tate High School, class of 1970. She worked many years as an editorial clerk with Saufley Field and later retired.
She is survived by her two children, Sharvin (Shandra) Moorer and Kourtney (James) Walker, both of Pensacola; four granddaughters, Shanel Moorer, Destiny Moorer, Morgan Turner, and Keziah Walker, all of Pensacola; mother, Sarah Moorer of Cantonment; two brothers, David (Dorothy) Moorer of Cantonment and McEarnest (Isalean) Moorer of Compton, CA; three sisters, Joyce (David) Mallety of Fayetteville, N.C., Barbara Easley and Linda Parker both of Pensacola; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A celebration of life was held Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Ward’s Temple A.F.M. Church in Cantonment, with Bishop Donice Brown, Sr. officiating.
Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Junior Lee Vestal, 74, of Atmore, passed away June 6, 2014, in Pensacola. He was born in High Point, NC, on November 29, 1938, to the late Jonie and Bessie N. Vestal of Mocksville, NC. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Cuban Crises. He was a member of Cross Point Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leo F. Vestal; grandson, Chris Berryman; brother-in-law, Jerry Suits; and his late wife, Shirley K. Vestal, all of North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years Irma Jean Macks Vestal of Atmore; children, Patsy Jean Alverson of Atmore, Ronnie (Molly) Lee Vestal, Rhonda Vestal, all of Statesville, N.C; Ray (Londy) Himes of Flomaton; Brenda (Danny) Hill of Atmore; Shane (Brenda) Haskew of Brewton, and Jerry (Bernice) Haskew of Andalusia; siblings, Billie (Dorothy) Vestal; sister-in- law, Margaret Vestal, all of Yadkinville, NC; Wesley (Diane) Vestal of Jacksonville, NC, Betty (Tony) Upright, Mary V. Suits, all of Statesville, NC; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Cross Point Baptist Church with Bro. J.T. Guyton officiating.
Burial will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

Donald “Pat” Houston

Donald “Pat” Houston, 74, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at The Terrace in Jay following illness.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Clara (Strickling) Houston; daughters, Jo Ann Harris and Joyce Wainwright; brothers, Joe (Dorthy), Lonnie (Wanda), Max (Wanda), Beda Ray “Cotter” (Carolyn) Houston; sisters, Norma Jean Frazier, Jane (David) Wright; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
Donald was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the Army. He grew up in the Fidellis community. He was the son of William Hillary and Lillie Mae Houston; twin brother Ronald “Mike” Houston; as well as 14 other brothers and sisters. Donald loved to ride his horses and after leaving Monsanto worked to care for them. He also loved his family and friends dearly.
Services were held Saturday, June 8, 2014.
Burial was in Fidelis Cemetery.
The family would like to give special acknowledgement and thanks to The Terrace Staff and Emerald Coast Hospice Care for their outstanding love and care of Donald throughout his time there.

William J. “Bill” Lee

Bill Lee of Cantonment was born in Allentown on August 30, 1946, and died June 2, 2014, at age 67.
He is survived by his life’s mate, Sharon Smith; three children, Tommy (Gloria), Anisa Matis (Dave), Jason (Jeanette); seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dozier, Bobby (Donna), James (Hazel); and two sisters, Louise Ballard (Ben) and Barbara Holley (Millard).
Bill was preceded in death by his parents T.L. and Naomi Lee; one brother, Donald; and two sisters, Dorothy Creel and Laurine Parks.
A celebration of his life was held on June 4, 2014 in Pensacola at Moose Lodge 557.
