Lawrence Douglas Lassiter

Lawrence Douglas Lassiter, 70 of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Mobile. He was born in Atmore on August 28, 1943, to the late Chester and Lucille Wall Lassiter. He was a farmer, owner and operator of Lassiter Trucking Company and was a retired multi-craft maintenance technician from International Paper Company with 35 years of service. He was a Past Master of the Huxford Lodge #779 and a 32nd Degree Mason and an avid Alabama fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Cubie Dean Cook, Charles Lassiter and Bobby Lassiter.

He is survived by his children, Tim Lassiter of Nokomis, AL; Roxanne (David) Martinie of Uriah, and Rocky (Troy) Smith of Cerola, AL; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a special companion “Reece.”

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2014, at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willie Oglesby officiating.

Burial will follow in McCullough Cemetery with Masonic Honors.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted but donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dorothy D. Hadley

July 16, 2014

Mrs. Dorothy D. Hadley, 87, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014, in Atmore.

Mrs. Hadley was a native of Lottie, Alabama and a resident of Perdido for most of her life. Mrs. Hadley was member of Springs of Life Church and Pleasant Plains Holiness Church. Her father, Wesley Brown; mother, Ethel Brown; husband, Tink Hadley; brother, William “Bill” Brown; and two sisters, Merle Stewart and Nora Ayers precede her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Eula Price of Atmore; two brothers, John D. (Lucy) Brown and Joel (Shelby) Brown all of Perdido; five sisters, Estelle Morris of Denham Springs, LA, Opal Paul of Phoenix City, AL, Shirley Ward of Mobile, Christine Patterson of Bay Minette and Bobbie Bryars of Milton; two grandchildren, Vincent Ramer of Bay Minette and Adam Ramer of Wilmer, AL and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 18, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. James Peacock and Sis. Thursa Long officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2014, from 12 noon until service time at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kainnan Pintarelli, Roger Hadley, John D. Brown, William Stewart, Thomas Dean and Robert Chancery.

Brenda Westmoreland

July 15, 2014

Brenda Westmoreland, age 62 of Jay, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. She was born on March 2, 1952, to Robert and Catheryn Henderson. She was a lifelong resident of Jay. Brenda graduated from Jay High School in 1970 and the University of West Florida in 1974. She was an elementary school teacher and retired from the Santa Rosa School System in 2006. She was a member of Jay First Baptist Church.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Catheryn Henderson; and brother-in-law, Lofton Westmoreland.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dale Westmoreland; daughter, Alison Westmoreland; sister, Pam (Chuck) Bellerose; nieces, Megan Bellerose and Mallory (Jake) Coats; sister-in-law, Dr. Diana Harris and nephew, Harris Westmoreland.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Jay First Baptist Church with Doctor William Rushing and Brother Chip Fox officiating.

Burial will follow at Jay City Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Roger Watson, Max Williams, Rod Gracey, Josh Marshall, Harris Westmoreland, and Joseph Bryan.

Chester Tolbert

Mr. Chester Tolbert, 74, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014, in Century.

Mr. Tolbert was a native of Brewton and a resident of Jay for most of his life. His father, Ed Tolbert; mother, Ethel Tolbert; wife, Doris Barlow; three brothers, Franklin Tolbert, John Tolbert and Bill Tolbert; three sisters, Estelle Ates, Gladys Smith and Irene Barlow precede him in death.

Survivors include his son, Chester (Twyla) Tolbert of Chumuckla; daughter, Abbie Tolbert of Paragould, AK; one brother, Robert (Pauline) Tolbert of Jay; and three sisters, Rose Richardson of Flomaton, Sara Weaver of Century and Abbie Smith of Flomaton.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Oglesbee and Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.

Burial will follow at the Cora Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Kimmons, Jesse Strickland, Howard Cooper, Jeff Mercer, Nate Cross and Roger Nowling.

Aggidean M. Dagen

Aggidean M. Dagen, 96 of Walnut Hill, passed away Friday July 11, 2014, at her residence. She was a retired seamstress employed by Vanity Fair Mill. She was born in Escambia County (Fla.) on May 30, 1918, to the late Rufus Theodore and Elizabeth Williams Barlow.

She was loved by many people and known as Granny. She was a lifetime member of Dry Springs Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” H. Dagen; three daughters, Gladys Dagen, LaVerne D. Warren and Rita Bolton; one son Robert L. Dagen; three brothers, Arthur L. Barlow, Uriah “Jack” Barlow, and Harrison Barlow; and one sister, Mary Lou Barlow.

Survivors are one daughter, Janice L. Parker of Walnut Hill; 13 randchildren, Patti C. (Doug) Peacock, Charlie W. Creel, H.Aaron Dagen,“Kenny” Dean “Pebbles” (Daw) Dagen, John A. (Rhonda) Cannon, Gwendolynn A. Parker, “Nila” Brett Harrison Dagen, Bruce Anthony Dagen, Timothy Scott Warren, Edward Wayne (Gayle) Warren, Susan Melissa (Mark) Powell, Jennifer Joely Bolton, Tina Suzanne Smith;  28 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Samuel Lamar Henderson, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014. Sam was born on October 31, 1931, in Mobile to Eugene and Blieka Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Sam Henderson, Jr., grandson Zach Show, parents-in-law Frances (Babe) and Cecil Gibbons and great Labrador, Old Yeller.

Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Cecile Henderson; daughters Blieka (Steve) Yerg of Molino, and Marjorie (Tom) Show of Little Rock, AR; sons Bob (Penny)Bradford, Jim (Carol) Bradford, Jon (JoJo) Bradford, all of Tucson, AZ, and Mike (Theresa) Bradford of Pace; brothers Bob (Betty) Henderson of St. Elmo, AL, McRae (Jeanette) Henderson of Crestview, and Michael Henderson of Cantonment; grandchildren Jennifer (Mike) Bracken of Jackson, MS, Carrie (Brad) Rice of Mildenhall, United Kingdom, Robin Show of Little Rock, AR, Owen Henderson of Pensacola,  Brian Bradford of Irvine, CA, Michael Tyler Bradford and C.T. Bradford of Tucson, AZ sisters-in-laws Charlene Long of Albuquerque, NM, and Mary Jo Norris of Tucson, AZ; six great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and faithful Yorkie Lucy.

Sam grew up in Cantonment. He graduated from J.M. Tate High School in 1950, then served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Florida Pulp and Paper Company a short while before going to work at Pensacola NAS in the Naval Air Rework Facility. After 33 years, he retired from NAS Production Planning Department, Examination and Evaluation branch.

An abiding love for his family and friends, thoughtfulness, and a great sense of humor endeared him to those who knew him. Sam was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting. In his younger years, he loved to play baseball, basketball, tennis, softball and football. He particularly enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball.

Sam’s memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Pinewoods Presbyterian Church, 2198 Highway 297-A, Cantonment, followed by a Celebration of Life reception at the church. The service will be led by Senior Pastor Joel Treick.

In lieu of flowers, donations, may be made to the Humane Society. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, is entrusted with arrangements.

Addison Yvonne Webb

Infant Addison Yvonne Webb, born July 6, 2014, died on July 9, 2014 in Pensacola, Florida.

Addison Yvonne Webb was a native and resident of Pensacola. Her grandfather, Jimmy Dunsford, grandmother, Yvonne Webb and uncle, Brett Webb preceded her in death.

Survivors include her father, Paul Webb of Pensacola; and mother Kimberly Dunsford of Walnut Hill; one brother, Tristen Webb of Pensacola; one sister, Makayla Webb of Pensacola; grandparents, Ronald and Barbara Hollingsworth of Walnut Hill, and Scott Dubose of Pensacola; great grandparents, Janie and James Singleton of Walnut Hill, Barbara and Dewayne Hollingsworth of Walnut Hill, Bruce and Velma Webb of Pensacola, and Norm and Gale Dubose of Pensacola; aunts, Kelly, Crystal, Rena, Nina, Jackie and Jessica; uncles, David, Brandon, Dallas, Ryan; and numerous cousins.

Barbara Erica Daniel

Barbara Erica Daniel, age 80, of Pensacola, passed away on Wednesday June 11, 2014, at her daughter’s house in Crawford, Tennessee. Mrs. Daniel was born March 11, 1934, in Liberty, New York to the late John Benjamin and Olive White Fricke. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all. She loved playing the piano and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. The angels in heaven now have a new member in their choir.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Paulette and Dan Wise of Crawford, TN, Kathy Lynn and Donnie Touchstone, Suzanne and Mike Barnes and Jayme Carol and Robb Echols, all of Pensacola; six grandchildren, April Michelle Harrison, Chenoa Ann Barnes, Jessica Nicole Ray, Kati Elea Touchstone, Krista Noel Touchstone and Dylan Chase Echols; six great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Harrison, Cheyenne Paul, Malachi, Giaovanna, Josiah and Isaiah Ray; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Lee Bogan of Gulf Breeze, Patricia and Alvin Harris of Jay and Mary and Patrick Sweeney of Pensacola; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Linda Fricke of Pensacola; lifelong friends and neighbors, Edgar and Bonnie Klienschmidt Of Pensacola; and PeeWee the cat.

In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death on February 16, 2014, by her husband of 61 years, Wallace Daniel, whom she is now with again.

Special thanks to nurse and good friend Novi Tolley, Teena, Liz, Brittney and all the Avalon Hospice Staff and Dr. Dawn Barlow and nurse Kim.

Mrs. Daniel’s wishes of cremation have been followed. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeal Home North at 2 p.m.

June Parilee Agee Deckard, 73, of Atmore, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, in Atmore. She was a judicial assistant born in Linden, Ala. on June 29, 1941, to the late Narralee and Clarice Glass Agee.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Deckard of Atmore; one son, Richard (Jenna) Deckard of Cherokee Village, AR; one daughter, Sherri Edge of Fort Walton Beach; five brothers, Vernon Agee of Daphne, Thomas Agee of Flomaton, Gary Agee of Warrior, Ala., Mike Agee of Dallas, TX and Dean Agee of Monroeville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, July 12, 2014, at noon at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Ted Bridges officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Willie Frank Barrow

Mr. Willie Frank Barrow, 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in Pensacola.

Mr. Barrow was a native of Atmore, former resident of Flomaton (where he spent most of his life) and resided in Century. His son, Lance Barrow and brother, Wilson Earl Barrow, preceded Mr. Barrow in death.

He is survived by six sons, Frankie Barrow of Florida, Johnny Barrow of South Carolina, Shawn Barrow of Century, Jimmy Meek of Brewton, Cherokee Meek and Joey Meek both of Oklahoma; one brother, Donald Barrow of Atmore; one sister, Margaret Barrow of Mobile; and numerous grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 5, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
