Helen Kowalski Beadle

Helen Kowalski Beadle died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 4, 2014.

She was born to Frank and Sophie (Bethka) Kowalski in Oswego, NY on March 9, 1922. Two years after finishing high school, she took the train to Montgomery, AL, to marry her true love, Avery Howard Beadle, who was serving there in the Army Air Corps. They were wed in June, 1942. After the war, they moved to Cantonment where Avery worked for the St. Regis Paper Company.

Helen was a devout Catholic and a devoted wife and mother of two children. She was an excellent homemaker, cook, and seamstress. When her children were older, she became certified as a teacher’s aide and worked for several years at Woodham High School and Jim Allen Elementary. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was hard to beat at Scrabble. In later years, she and Avery made several trips to Europe and were active in square and round dancing.

Helen is survived by her husband of 72 years, Avery H. Beadle; two children, Sylvia Beadle Zurko of Colorado, and Gary (Danise) Beadle of Cantonment; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

After cremation she will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date. Faith Chapel North is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Charities, Habitat for Humanity, or Manna Food Bank.

Friends are invited to visit the family at 100 Morris Avenue in Cantonment, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, December 12.

Ada Inman

December 6, 2014

Ada Inman, age 79 of Jay, passed away on December 4, 2014. She was a resident of Century Care Center and enjoyed flower gardening and working in her yard. Ada was a Protestant by faith and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a loving woman to all who knew her.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Jennie Attaway and several brothers and sisters.

Ada is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, “Sarge” Inman; daughter, Ester Marie Moore (Ace); sons, Theron Russell Inman (Karen) and David Inman (Maria); brother, Joe Ivey Attaway; sisters, Alice Campbell, Geneva Attawa, and Azaline Dunsford; grandchildren, Corey Inman and Bentley Kirkland and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home chapel.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Management organizations.

Bobbie Glenda (Strickland) White

Bobbie Glenda (Strickland) White, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2014, in Indianapolis, IN.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Losson D. White; parents, James Howard Strickland and Vera (Daniels) Strickland; and great-granddaughter, Kinley Nevaeh Clarke.

Mrs. White is survived by her son, Kenneth H. White; daughter, Glenda V. Butler; five grandchildren, David W. Haid, John C. (Joni) Haid, Greg A. (Lindsay) Haid, Manda L. (Jess) Clarke and Losson D. White; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Bro. Roy Chewning, officiating.

Burial to follow in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. until time of service.

Billy E. “Gene” Salter

December 4, 2014

Today I say goodbye to the love of my life and our children’s lives.

Gene was born in Pensacola and made a living as an industrial carpenter all of his working life. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie and Mayzel Salter; three brothers, Ronnie, Timmy and Raymond; and a sister, Judy Smith.

Gene is survived by his wife and best friend, Teresa; three daughters, Melissa, Sherry (Jason) Stagg, Amity (Matt) Nowling; and ‘the love of his life,’ our granddaughter, Alyssa Kaye “Bae’ Bae’”;  sister, Brenda (Tex) Jefferson; brothers, Kenneth, Terry, Donnie and Mark Salter; and several nieces and nephews.

As we say goodbye to Gene we would love for you to come and celebrate his life with us on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with memorial service starting at 3 p.m.

Larry “Pops” Williams

Larry “Pops” Williams passed away on November 24th 2014.

Larry was born in Century on March 13th 1950. He retired from the Navy after serving his country for 21 years. Larry will be deeply missed and is survived by his 93-year old mother Margarette Williams; two brothers, David and Buddy and four sisters, Aileen, Florene, Ellen, and Elaine. He also leaves behind two daughters, Danielle Bomhold and Lee McGaha; a son, Larry Williams Jr. and six grandchildren, Payton, Alexis, Jordan, Seth, Olivia and Paul.

Memorial services will be at the Alger Sullivan Historical Society, 610 4th Street in Century on December 7th at 2 pm.

Helen Marie Shiver

Helen Marie Shiver, 75 of Pensacola, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014.

Mrs. Shiver was born on March 6, 1939, in Pensacola  to the late Claudis and Emma Sasser.

She is survived by her husband, Fred R. Shiver, Jr.; three sons, Barry (Gwen), Gregory (Connie), and Craig (Vickie) Shiver; two grandsons; two granddaughters; two great grandsons; a brother, Thomas (Cheryl) Sasser; and a special friend, Mona Jernigan.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Koyickal, officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with a rosary starting at 6:00 p.m..

Rachel “Aunt Diddy” Butler

Rachel “Aunt Diddy” Butler, 97 of Molino passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014.

Mrs. Butler had worked in the school system for 43 years. The last 17 years she had worked civil service in the office at Tate High School. She was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Butler, Jr.; son, Charles M. Butler; brothers, Billy English, E.T. English, McClellan English and John D. English; sisters, Kate Reeves, Agnes Weatherford, Inez English and Lucille White.

Mrs. Butler is survived by her grandson, Mark (Paula) Butler; great grandson, Blake Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A very special thank you to West Florida Hospital Floor 2 North: Jill, Kelly, Sophia, and Lillie for all the wonderful care given to Aunt Diddy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Fred Stallworth, officiating. Burial to follow in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church Cemetery.

David Lee Comalander

Mr. David Lee Comalander, 54, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014, in Century.

Mr. Comalander was native of Century and a resident of McDavid for most of his life. Mr. Comalander knew Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, loved to hunt, was a master carpenter and fabricator. He was very smart, he could do anything that he set his mind too. He was a very creative person. He also enjoyed painting, drawing, being with friends, family, and church on Sunday. He attended the Byrneville Mennonite Church. He would do anything to help you, give the shirt off his back if you needed it. His parents, James Dove and Beulah Comalander; one sister, Georgia Anne Prescott; and two brothers, Darrell Ray Comalander and Chris Comalander, precede him in death.

Survivors include his two sons, John David Comalander of Bratt and Christopher Lee Comalander of Bay Minette and their mother, Lori Horton of Beulah; six brothers, James Comalander of McDavid, Larry Comalander of McDavid, Jerry Comalander of Dothan, Lamar Comalander of Opp, Allen Comalander of Frisco City, LA and Reaggie Harold Comalander of Orlando; six sisters, Eleanor Stuckey of McDavid, Melba Townsend of Byrneville and Mary Wiggins Hall of Bratt; three grandchildren, Kaydence Comalander, Ciara Comalander and Jake David Comalander; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Bender officiating.

Burial was at the Godwin Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, James Palmer, Brian Wiggins, Eric Wiggins, Allen Holland, James Hughes and Dale Townsend.

Nicholas Renato Baer

December 1, 2014

Nicholas Renato Baer, 22, passed away on November 25, 2014. He was born in Hartford Connecticut and Nick moved to Pensacola in 2001. He attended Longleaf Elementary, Brentwood Middle, George Stone and Pensacola Junior College. Nick was a welder and worked at the family business with plans of taking the business over in the future. Nick was always smiling and had a big heart. Everyone laughed when Nick was around whether it was because of his wit or his antics. Nick was always helping others and his love and devotion to his family was fierce.

Nick was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Henry Baer.

Survivors include Gena Kim Register, fiancé; Kai Sung Baer, son; Jacqueline Baer Jensen, mother; Riki Lee Jensen, step-father; Ryan Henry Baer, brother; Sean Patrick Jensen, brother; Taitana Jensen and Brittany Jensen, step-sisters; Douglas and Patricia Fagan, maternal grandparents; Ron and Celeste Baer, paternal grandparents; Michael Baer, uncle; Paul and Jackie Hughes, uncle and aunt; Dave Best, uncle; Cyndi Baer, aunt; Dave Adams, uncle; Andrea Baer, aunt; Kelly Fagan, aunt; Liz Tarnell, aunt; cousins and countless friends.

Nick may be gone, but he will live always in our hearts and be seen in his son.

Services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. with the funeral service at 4 p.m.

Bessie Marie Owens

December 1, 2014

Bessie Marie Owens, 91, of Atmore, passed away on November 28, 2014, at her residence. She was born on November 3, 1923, to the late John Leslie and Bessie Trest Richerson. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and had been a member since 1956. She was a member of the Friendship Quilting Club. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sibley T. Richerson; sister, Ouida Bunch; infant sister, Madline Richerson and two sons-in-law, Charles E. Gideons, Sr. and David Davidson.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Rodney (Donna) Owens and Marilyn O. Gideons-Davidson; grandchildren, Charles “Eddie” (Tammy) Gideons, Tammy Gideons-Kaiser, Malcolm “Bub” Gideons, Ondrea Marie Gideons Williamson, Monica Gideons Ziglar, Johnathon (Angelique) Owens and Jason (Melissa) Owens; 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Everette, Rev. Jean Spikes and Rev. Phillip Chase officiating.

Family will receive friends Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. from Bethel United Methodist Church.
