Wilbert Rolin

Mr. Wilbert Rolin, 74, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014, in Atmore.

Mr. Rolin was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Voncile Rolin; his second wife, Joyce Rolin; and two brothers.

Survivors include his two daughters, Patricia (Freddie) Weekley and JoAnn Hiebert; three step-children, Paula Hall, Linda McCall and Michael Blackburn; five brothers; four sisters; eight grandchildren, Doug Respress, David Respress, Mandy Hodges, Lance Hodges, Jonathan Rolin, Alisa Rolin, Joey Rolin and Angie Hyatt; 11 great-grandchildren, Hunter Edwards, Cody Edwards, Taylor Repress, Preston Respress, Kaitlyn Repress, Kristina Respress, Sean Repress, Alaina Hodges, Lakota Hodges, Cameron McCall and Ana McCall.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 6, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Harrison officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lance Hodges, Doug Respress, David Respress, Hunter Edwards, Cody Edwards, Cameron McCall and Preston Respress.

Edward Earl Rigby, Sr.

October 2, 2014

Edward Earl Rigby Sr., 80 of Cantonment, passed away on September 30, 2014. He was born in Goodway, AL on July 25, 1934. He was actively involved in the Shriners, Escambia 15 Mason’s and the Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.U. and Elsie Rigby; and brother, Curtis Rigby.

Edward is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna; daughter, Tammy; son, Edward (Chanda) Rigby, Jr.; sister, Agnes (Glenn) Grant; brother, Kenny (Sharon) Rigby; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North in Cantonment. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time. Pastors Larry Anderson and Michael Cobb of St. Luke’s Methodist Church will be officiating.

Burial to follow in Gonzalez United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the name of Edward Rigby Sr.

Pallbearers will be Michael Grant, Keith Grant, Travis Grant, Ramsey Rigby, Randon Rigby, Tim Rigby, Chad Rigby and Pat Palmer.

Jerry D. Statham

September 29, 2014

Jerry D. Statham, 71, from Molino, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014.

Jerry was born in Albertville, AL but moved to the Pensacola area in 1970 due to Navy deployment. Jerry loved everything about the area, including the military, the hunting and fishing and church involvement, enough to call it his permanent home. Jerry proudly served 20 years in the US Navy and then continued to work in Navy contract maintenance with the Northrop, Raytheon and L3 as an aviation electrician.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, J.B. and Lilla Mae Statham.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda; his daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Tim Doten; sister, Kathryn Naomi Cornelius; brothers-in-law, Gary Miller, Roger Miller and Kenneth Cornelius; and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Molino.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Faith Chapel North with Pastor Brian Calhoun officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with services at to follow at 12 p.m.

Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harold Holder, Charles Barton, Jackie Cunningham, Charles Purvis, Ed Latham, and Bill Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Adult III Sunday School class and Highland Baptist Church.

Jean Findley

September 29, 2014

Mrs. Jean Findley, 85, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, in Century.

Mrs. Findley was a native of Florala, AL and a resident of Byrneville for most of her life. Mrs. Findley was a member of the Sew-in-Sew Club of McDavid and she attended the Poplar Dell Baptist Church. Her husband, L.B. “Shorty” Findley, precedes her in death.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gene & Sharon (McKayla) Findley of Byrneville; one grandchild, Heather Ann Jordan of Pensacola; two great-grandchildren; two special families, Janae (Mike) Stillwell and children of Bratt and Karen Jones and children of Montgomery, AL.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.

Burial will follow at the Green Acres Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Judson Carden, Mike Stillwell, Danny Findley, David Findley, Thad Riley and Carl Gandy.

Lois Underwood Howell

September 29, 2014

Lois Underwood Howell, 87, of Pensacola, died Friday, September 26, 2014. She was born July 24, 1927, in Shawmut (Valley) AL and had been a resident of Pensacola the past 60 years. She worked at Monsanto Corporation and Montgomery Ward. Mrs. Howell was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Senior Adult Programs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Elton (Hank) Howell.

Lois is survived by her son, Larry E (Teresa) Howell of Cantonment; her daughter, Linda H (Tim) Witt of Pensacola; grandson, Brian L (Wendy) Howell of Milton; grandson, Eric H Howell of Tampa; her great-grandchildren, Shane Howell of Tallahassee and Lauren Howell of Milton; sister-in-law, Ann (Barry) Hooks of Opelika, AL; as well as loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 800 E Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL, with funeral services to follow at 1:30 p.m.

Burial will follow in Bayview Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the staff of Grandview Assisted Living, Specialty Center and a very special thanks to Regency Hospice, especially Krystal, Lelanya and Mike.

AJ Yarbrough

AJ Yarbrough, age 80 of Milton, passed away on September 28, 2014. AJ enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. He served in the United States Army and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

AJ is survived by his loving wife of 48 years “Bea”; children, Jim (Terry) Swager, Willie Swager, David Swager, Pete Swager, Kirk Swager, “Jimmy” Wayne Swager, and David (Jazzmin) Swager; grandchildren, BJ (Ashley) Swager, Timothy Swager, Robert (Britteny) Swager, and Sarah Swager; his great-grandchildren, Alexis Dawn, Matthew, Ethan, Logan, Jose, “Little David”, Lilee, Hayley, and Aria; and two sisters, Thelma Fletcher and Loretta (Frederick) Hargis.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Olivet Baptist Church with Brother Jim Lassiter officiating.

A graveside service will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola with military honors.

Julia Elizabeth Vincent Welker

Julia Elizabeth Vincent Welker, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Missouri Elizabeth Williams Vincent and Clifford Jefferson Vincent, Sr.; her son, Roger Larry Thrasher; and her husband, Warren “Buddy” Thomas Welker.

Julia is survived by her six children, Claudia Wynne, Carolyn Sirmon, Hugh Welker, Terry Welker, Judy Creighton, Thomas Welker, Paul Welker and Gina Asters; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and her two brothers, Clifford Vincent, Jr. and Johnnie Vincent.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North in Cantonment with Bro. Bill Flannigan officiating.

Burial will follow in Bayview Memorial Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the funeral home.

Jac Cote

September 29, 2014

Jac Cote, age 43 of Pace, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014. He was born on January 26, 1971, in Portsmouth, VA, the son of Gilbert and Glenda Cote.

In 1998, Jac married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Nerlene Lacsamana. Jac and Nerlene remained happily married and together lived a life full of love, laughter, and happiness. Jac graduated from Escambia High School in 1989. After high school, Jac worked several years as a manager in music and video retail. Surviving cancer at a young age, Jac sought to help others diagnosed with cancer. In 2010, he received his Bachelor’s Science of Nursing degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. In 2012, Jac and Nerlene moved from Birmingham and returned to Pace to be closer to friends and family. He served as Nursing Clinical Manager of Oncology at Baptist Hospital.

People automatically gravitated to Jac’s sincere fun-loving personality. He loved music, singing, and classic movies. His intelligence, quick-wit, thoughtfulness, and nontraditional originality immediately made Jac a friend to everyone he encountered. To his family and close friends, he provided a love and trust that both nurtured and bonded undying relationships. He loved his nieces and nephews and helped instill within them values of compassion, respect, and honesty.

Jac is survived by his spouse, Nerlene Cote; father, Gilbert Cote; mother-in-law, Judy Cote; mother, Glenda Cote; brothers, Jason and Joey; seven nieces, Kyleigh, Lauren, Christine, Katelyn, Brooke, Bella and Mya; and three nephews, Brandon, Andrew, and Zander.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Baptist Hospital and Emerald Coast Hospice Care.

Funeral services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on October 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. followed by graveside services at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Lonnie Lee Rackard

September 25, 2014

Lonnie Lee Rackard, 65 of Atmore, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in Pensacola. He was a retired superintendent of Atlantic Marine Ship Yard of Mobile. He was born in Escambia County, Al. on February 20, 1949, to the Late Edgar and Ruthie Mae McGhee.

Mr. Lonnie was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Atmore, a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and was on the Board of Directors of Muskogee Inn.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Rackard of Atmore; two sons, Jason (Mary) Rackard of Poarch and Jeremy (Jasmine) Rackard of Deatsville, AL; five grandchildren, Kinzie, Destiny, Dallon, Khalia, and Jackson; one brother, Eugene (Karen) Rackard of Chipley; five sisters, Hazel (Ardis) Rolin of Atmore, Ruby (Jerry) Hawkins of Poarch;  Dorothy (Joe Frank) McGhee of Atmore, Mary (Gary) Cordes of Jasper and Glenda Carlton of Poarch; and numerous extended family and friends.

Services were held Thursday, September 25, 2014, from the United Pentecostal Church of Atmore with Pastor Mary S. Gibbs and Rev. Coleman Pylant officiating.

Interment was in New Home Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Poarch Creek Fire Department.

Honorary pallbearers will be Poarch Creek Tribal Council.

Brenda Lois Godwin

September 25, 2014

Brenda Lois Godwin 65, of Davisville, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in Pensacola. She was the owner and operator of The Looking Good Hair Salon. She was born in Flomaton on November 14, 1948, to the late Thomas Guy and Marie Porter Nicholas. Ms. Brenda was a loving wife, mother and a great friend who touched the lives of many.

She is preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Freddie Godwin of Davisville; three daughters, Sonia (Quint) Wilson of Bratt,  Tonia (Tom) Presley of Byrneville, and Brandy Ramer of Davisville; one brother, Ralph “Bill” Scott; two sisters, Pearline Torelli and Jackie Grantham and seven grandchildren, Patrick (Elizabeth), Wilson, Tabitha Presley, Danielle Wilson, Tiffany Presley, Talisa Presley, Raven Ramer and River Ramer; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Bridges officiating.

Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Timmy Ramer, Bobbie McCall, Bernard Owens, Buddy Scott, Louie Thrower, and Michael Johnson.
