Betty Nell Byrd Barbarow

Mrs. Betty Nell Byrd Barbarow, age 83, passed from this life Wednesday, November 26,2014. She was born in Atmore to the late Wallace and Freddie Byrd. In 1955 she married Connie B. Barbarow. She was a lifelong resident of Perdido, where she was a homemaker. She was also an active member of the Perdido Church of God until her health prevented it. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gloria Plovanich.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Connie B Barbarow; two daughters, Ellen B. Earls (Darwin) and Rose B. Mosley; four grandchildren, Brandon E. Earls, Breanna E. Earls, Brian E. Earls and Brooke E. Earls.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Short and Rev. Thurisa Long officiating.
Burial will follow in Perdido Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Plovanich, George Plovanich, Max White, Darwin Earls, Brandon Earls and Brian Earls.
Arrangements are being handled by Johnson -Quimby Funeral Home of Atmore.
Guynell King Goneke

Guynell King Goneke went to her home in Heaven on Monday, November 24, 2014.
She was born on January 25, 1916, to her parents, Gordon and Kate King in Commerce, GA. The family moved to Jay when she was 12 years old. She accepted the Lord at age 16 at Pine Level Baptist Church. She graduated from Jay High School in 1937 and married Robert Mavin “Butch” Goneke the same year. They moved to Pensacola in 1941. She was employed at J.J. Newberry, Aubrey E. Gomillion, CPA, and W.T. Grant. She was an excellent seamstress and a marvelous cook. Her pound cakes, German chocolate cakes and many other dishes were so special. She often sewed and cooked for family and friends. She traveled to 46 states during her lifetime and was a member of Olive Baptist Church and the Steadfast Sunday School class.
Guynell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mavin Goneke (in 1971 after 37 years of marriage); brothers, D.C., Wheeler, Parks and Horace King also sister, “Jimmie” Wise.
Survivors include her son, Freddy (Becky) Goneke; daughter, Sylvia (Bill) Menges and grandchildren, Shannon Casey and Shane (Amanda) Goneke; great grandchildren, Austin, Jayde and Gavin Goneke; sister, Francine Gomillion and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2014, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jerry Passmore officiating. Private entombment will be in the Bayview Memorial Park Mausoleum with her husband.
In lieu of flowers it was her desire that memorials be made in her name to Florida Baptist Children’s Home, 1000 Chemstrand Rd., Cantonment, FL 32533.
Annie Mae Pettis

Mrs. Annie Mae Pettis, 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in Atmore.
Mrs. Pettis was a native of Bellville, AL and a resident of Atmore since 1977. Mrs. Pettis was a member of the Fretwell Tabernacle Church. Her husbands, Calvin Pugh and Leroy Pettis; and two sons, John Pugh and Calvin Pugh precede her in death.
Survivors include her two sons, Roy Pettis of Atmore and Leamon Pugh of Deritter, LA; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 29, 2014, from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be will be Alex Rodriquez, Adam Rodriquez, Kevin Pugh, Kenneth Pugh, Shane Caraway and Tony Tolbert.

Linda D. Russell

Linda D. Russell, 63, of Pensacola, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and Nana and will be missed by every one whose life she touched.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Mable cooper; her brothers, Raymond Corley and Gary Cooper; her sister, Jean Parker; and her son-in-law, Michael Estrada. Her beloved pets, Prissy and Cali “Baby Girl’ also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John; her daughters, Rebecca Russell Estrada and Kelli Russell (Clay) Greer. She is also survived by her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Brandon Russell, Michael Russell, Shane Parker, Sydney Parker, Rene Aguillar, Autumn Greer, Constance Greer and Killian Greer; her brother, Dennis (Debbie) Cooper and Nancy (Hesham) Ismail. She was a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, most notably Jenifer Mitchel who was a great help to her whenever she was needed.
Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Bro. Ed Tisdale officiating.
Burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Jerry Johnson, age 71 of Flomaton, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Flomaton and a lifetime resident where he worked as a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Osaka Freewill Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wilson Johnson and sister, Pearl McCurdy.
He is survived by his mother, Elma Dole Johnson of Flomaton; his wife of 50 years, Jeanette Johnson of Flomaton; son, Michael (Teresa) Johnson of McDavid; daughter, Angie (Steve) Turner of Byrneville; brothers, Wilson Johnson, Charles Johnson and Ronnie Johnson, all of Pineview, AL and Donnie Johnson of Flomaton; sisters, Bettie Armstrong of Pea Ridge and Cat Reid of Byrneville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Jim Johnson and Bro. Paul Armstrong officiating.

Robert B. Clayton, 88, of Molino, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 23, 2014, with his family by his side.
Bobby served as a Seabee in WWII and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alec and Emma Clayton; and two sisters, Edyth (Bob) Goudeau and Agnes (Carlos) Sperandeo.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Cheryl Gremillion and Tara (Jeff) Turnipseed; five grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Connell, Clayton Gremillion, Grant Gremillion, Kate Turnipseed (Sean) White and Jett Turnipseed; and great-grandson, Mac Walker.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at St. Judes Thaddeus Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Koyickal, officiating.
Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with a rosary starting at 7 p.m.

Ted Burnett Williams

Ted Burnett Williams, 78, of Molino, succumbed to his long battle with cancer on Sunday, November 23, 2014.
Ted graduated from Chipley High School in 1954 and joined the U.S. Navy following graduation. He was a veteran of two wars – Korea and Vietnam. Ted retired from civil service at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Stinson) Williams; children, Andrea Tedinne Parsons (Ken), Teresa Langenbach (Andrew), Todd Williams (Tina), and Tyler Williams; sister, Lavoughn Wells (Jim); and brother, Joe Williams. Ted was also grandfather to seven grandchildren.
Ted will be fondly remembered for his love of beekeeping, the outdoors and his boundless energy.
A memorial visitation for Ted Williams will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Harry McCall Read

Mr. Harry McCall Read, age 89 of Flomaton, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at D.W. McMillian Memorial Hospital in Brewton.
Mr. Read was a native of Ft. Lauderdale, and a lifetime member of the Flomaton community where he was a member of Little Escambia Baptist Church and the Lions Club. During his working years, he worked for Champion Paper Mill. He was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps having served proudly in WWII during the Occupation of Japan, Volcano Island and Iwo Jima. Mr. Read served as Scout Master for Troop 31 in Flomaton for 60 years. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow Honor Camper Society and Vigil Honor Member of Yustaga Lodge 385 Gulf Coast Council Boy Scouts of America which earned him honors of the Founders Award OA and of the Silver Beaver. He was also an avid Alabama football fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle Murphy Read.
Mr. Read is survived by his daughter, Sandra Read Knowles of Axis, AL; grandchildren, Sue (Phillip) Tarleton of Creola, AL, Marcus (Tonya) Knowles of Satsuma, Anthony (Sonja) Knowles of Axis, Michelle (Stan) Johnson of Creola and Brad(Chrissy)Knowles of Axis; and11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with speakers Bill Payne, Wade Hartley and Ted Spangenberg, Jr.
Interment was in Flomaton Cemetery in Flomaton.
Pallbearers were Blake Knowles, Blaine Tarleton, Taylor Knowles, Kaleb Knowles, Joshua Knowles, Frank Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Boy Scout Troop 31.

Mr. Earl D. King, 85, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, in Atmore.
Mr. King was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. Mr. King was retired from Holman prison after more than 30 years of service. He recently was honored for service in shoot out at the prison. He loved horses, mules and wagons. His wife, Alma Inez King; daughter, Judy Hill; and son, Tony King precede him in death.
Survivors include his two sons, Don (Jean) King of Flomaton and Dannie (Myra) King of Atmore; three daughters, Evelyn Davis and Esther Price both of Atmore and Janice King of Flomaton; three sisters, Marie Jackson of Pensacola, Margaret McCort of Jay and Pauline Floyd of Montgomery; 21 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold Rolin, John Flowers, Jr., Todd Bodiford, Derick Price, Devin King and Paul Brown.

Suzanne Lucie Carter

Suzanne Lucie Carter, age 68, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014.
Suzanne was a longtime resident of Cantonment and a devoted member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church. She worked at Baptist Hospital for many years before retiring. Her greatest joy was being with family and close friends.
She was a member of the Pro-Life Committee and Legion of Mary. Once retired, she enjoyed being with her grandsons and attending church with her sister at St. Jude’s. While attending Pensacola Junior College she acted as editor of the college newspaper, the Corsair. In the 1980’s she was very active in Boy Scouts with her sons as a den mother for Pack 410 and a committee member of Troop 403.
Suzanne’s faith and charitable spirit was beautiful and inspiring to those around her. The dedication to her family became her second career. She loved to cook, shop, and spend time with her younger sister.
Suzanne was preceded by her husband, Wallace, Sr.; mother, Yvonne; father, Florent; and grandson, Gabriel.
She is survived by her sons, Wallace, Jr. and Charles; grandson, Eryn; one sister, Monique; and two brothers, Alan P. and Gerard L.
Funeral Mass was held at St. Jude’s in Cantonment on Friday November 21, with Father George and Father Tom officiating.
Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a charitable donation to St. Jude’s Catholic Church or Alpha Center.
