Charles Richardson, Jr.

Charles Richardson, Jr., 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones. Charles was born on March 10, 1926, in Ariton, Alabama. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother to all his family.
He honorably served his country during World War II in the European Theater.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Florence McCrory Richardson; his father, Charlie Oscar Richardson; his mother, Emma Clifford Trawick Richardson; sister, Minnie Lee Richardson; his brothers, Jesse Clarence Richardson, William Dean Richardson, Henry Lewis Richardson, Travis Trawick Richardson, Charles Mathis Richardson, and Jim Jeff Richardson.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Donna Kay Laird; son, Charles Eric Richardson; grandchildren, Matthew Laird, Cole Laird, Chase Richardson, and Amber Richardson; great grandson, Cadem Laird; brother James Esker Richardson (Burnell); sister, Mavis Clifford Jenkins; sister-in-law, Willene Floyd; brother-in-law, Farrell McCrory (Peggy); several nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Sister Hazel Godwin officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Laird, Cole Laird, Chase Richardson, Greg Eliason, Greg Helms, and Joe Kittrell.

Richard Oliver Hill
February 4, 2015
Richard Oliver Hill, age 69, of Jay, died Monday, February 2, 2015, from an extended illness. He was a resident of Jay for most of his life. He served in the United States Army as a specialist with the Four E4 Company E 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 196 Infantry Brigade, during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, for his heroism in the war.
Richard retired from the civil service at Whiting Field as an airfield firefighter after twenty five years of service. Richard was a loving father and grandfather. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. After retiring he discovered a passion for coaching junior league basketball. He touched the lives of many children during his sixteen years of coaching in Jay. He will be remembered affectionally as “Coach Hill”.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Beatrice (Rowell) Hill; two sisters, Shirley Barksdale and infant Nancy Hill; two brothers, Rayburn Hill, Glen Hill, and his twin brother that died at birth.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Jesse) Hadley of Flomaton and Misty Hill of Jay; one son, Jonathan Hill of Jay; five grandchildren, Mayson and Eli Dunsford, Katilyn Hadley, Summer Joyner and Carlee Davidson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home with Chaplin Dean Patterson officiating services.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at Dixonville Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Ricky Ellis, Daniel Hoomes, Dennis Rowell, Keith Rowell, Ricky Butler, Henry, Hill, Randy Ellis and Terry Ellis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Ellis, Michael Ellis, Mabern Ellis, Tony Ellis, and Tim Floyd.

Montez Clark Spears
February 4, 2015
Montez Clark Spears of Pensacola passed away January 31, 2015, at the age of 74. She had been battling cancer and died peacefully in her sleep at home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Goldie Carter Clark; father, Alpha Omega Clark; siblings, Rex Clark, Arlen Clark and Gladys Clark Anderson.
Montez was an outgoing person that never met a stranger and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Clotis Spears; two children, Claudia Miller and Karen Carroll; brothers, Rev. Ruldoph Clark, Dolin Clark; and sister, Pat Thrash.
Montez was very proud of her grandchildren, Sydney Miller, Nathaniel Miller, Brittnie Spears-Fain and Bradley Carroll.
Memorial services will be held at Faith Chapel North in Cantonment on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. with services beginning at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in the name of Montez Spears to the American Cancer Society.

Nancy Fore Miles

Nancy Fore Miles, 78, was born August 7, 1936, and died February 3, 2015, at the Tender Loving Care unit of the Atmore Community Hospital. She had suffered from multiple sclerosis for many years.
She was raised in the community of Robinsonville and graduated from Escambia High School. She was active in the 4-H club and was especially proud of her calf, Daisy that she entered for judging. She enjoyed music, dancing, ceramics, plate collecting and spending time with her family, friends and pets. She left the Atmore area and moved to Muncie, Indiana where she worked for Borg Warner. It was there that she met her husband, Roy Miles. She and her husband moved to Florence and Athens, Alabama while he worked in the auto industry. Upon his death, she moved back to Atmore.
Her beloved husband, Roy Miles; parents, E.D. and Doskie Fore; brother, Earl Fore; and sister-in-law, Hazel Fore preceded her in death.
Survivors include her step-children, Bob (Susan) Miles; Tim Miles and Teresa (James) Jester; 15 step-grandchildren; 24 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin Fore, Steve (Lois) Fore, of Atmore, and Kenneth (Lori) Fore of Titusville, FL; sister-in-law, Joyce Fore and seven nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 6 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.
Burial will follow at the Greenview Memorial Park in Florence, Alabama.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 5 p.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Matilda Shockley Smith

Mrs. Matilda Shockley Smith, 83, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Pensacola.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Red Boiling Springs, TN and a resident of Byrneville, for most of her life. Mrs. Smith was retired from Vanity Fair after 22 years of service. She loved her six kids and wanted them all to graduate high school. She was a member of the Poplar Dell Baptist Church. The father of her children, Clyde Smith, precedes her in death.
Survivors include her three sons, Claude S. (Cheryl) Smith of Wawbeek, Clarence S. Smith of Pensacola and Clinton O. (Carrin) Smith of Tallahassee; three daughters, Claudia (Tommy) Williams of Jay, Clara (Jerry) Gulsby of Byrneville and Teresa (Frank) Lambeth of Flomaton; two brothers, Virgil Shockley of Indianapolis, IN and Daniel Shockley of Como, IN ; four sisters, Velma Bennett of Pensacola, Bonnie White of Liberty, TX, Barbara Brake of Pensacola and Joy Albright of Perry, GA; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 2, 2015, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Claude Sidney Smith, Jr., Matthew Covan, Benjamin Covan, Barry Morton, Josh Lambeth, Shawn Gibson and Tommy Tomlinson.

Sarah Ann Bryars, age 79, born in Delaware County, PA and a resident of Dyas, AL died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at North Baldwin Infirmary. She was a homemaker and mother to nine children.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Bryars of Dyas, AL; five sons, Robert Gardner of Bay Minette, John (Shelby) Gardner of Excel, Arthur (Gerri) Gardner of Robertsdale, Thomas (Tiki) Gardner of Perdido, and Edward (Bess) Gardner of Rabun; three daughters, Theresa Gardner of Dyas, Roseanna (Shannon) Edwards of Malcom, AL and Katie (Charles) Jones of Robertsdale, AL; one sister, Pat Lucussie of Euse, FL; 35 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gertrude Carter and one son, Donald Phillip Gardner.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating.
Burial will follow at the White Cemetery in Dyas, AL.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Allen Charles Born, Jr.

Allen Charles Born, Jr., age 85, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015. Allen was born on October 6, 1929, in Pensacola and lived in the Ferry Pass area all his life. He retired from St. Regis Paper Company on August 1, 1985, after 37 years. He was a lifelong member of the Ferry Pass Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen C. Born, Sr. and Nellie Marguerite (Creighton) Born.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn Louise “Momma” Born; his children, Allen III (Wanda), Karen (Chuck) Summers, James (Marie), Terry (Elizabeth), Daniel (Catherine), Stephen (Cynthia) and Cynthia (Glenn) Smith; 24 cherished grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel North.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel North. Friends are welcome one hour prior to services.
Interment will follow at Whitmire Cemetery.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Dudley “Bo” Steadham

Dudley “Bo” Steadham of McDavid was born November 28, 1931, and passed away January 31, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Della Steadham; his beloved wife of 49 years, Clara Bell,; brothers, Bob and Ben; and sister, Mattie Mae Driver.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret “Monk” Kimmons; sister-in-law, Dot Steadham; his sons, Jeff, Danny (Minner) and David (Linda); grandchildren Stephanie Nelson, Jeffery (Jill) Steadham, Ian Steadham, Danielle Steadham and Casey Burkett; and two great-grandchildren, Quinton and Cooper.
He passed away peacefully in his home Saturday morning. He loved his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He also enjoyed farming and his cows. He lived all of his life in McDavid. He retired after 42 years as a teamster truck driver.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at the Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, February 2, 2015, from 6-9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Nadie Lee Campbell Griswold

Nadie Lee Campbell Griswold, age 91, passed to her heavenly home on January 27, 2015. She was born in Pensacola on February 16, 1923, to Bob and Sally Slade Campbell. She attended school at Pensacola Catholic until her middle teens when her family moved to Chumuckla, where she completed her schooling. Being widowed at age 50, she followed her dream of going to college and later retiring from the Santa Rosa County school system. She was a faithful member of Pine Level Baptist Church for 60 plus years.
Nadie is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Tony (J.T.) Griswold; their first born son, James Samuel Griswold; and her parents, Bob and Sally Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Edward (Buddy) Campbell, Ira (son) Campbell, and Franklin Campbell; sisters, Anna Elizabeth Campbell, Mildred Smith, and Willie Vera Spicer.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda (Paul) Council of Milton, Carolyn (Ronnie) Champion of Atmore; son and daughter-in-law, Tony (Tammy) Griswold of Jay; five grandchildren, Kimberly Council (Stevie) Fretwell of Jay, Joseph Council of Milton, Deidre Champion (Jimmy) Peak of Pace, Derek Champion of Florence, Mississippi and Kandace Griswold of Jay; eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Betty (Burt) Larson, Jewel Driskell, Lois Simmons, and Catherine Simmons, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Pine Level Baptist Church in Jay with Chaplain Don Berry officiating.
Burial was at Pine Level Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Roy Griswold, Ray White, Hunter Hughes, Stevie Fretwell, Jimmy Peck, and Derek Champion.

Jean Stallworth Maxwell, 86 of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Spanish Fort. She was a homemaker born in Pine Apple, AL, on April 17, 1928, to Thomas Hugh and Julia Manar Stallworth. She was a graduate from Huntington College and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Atmore.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Benjamin C. Maxwell; daughter, Martha Ann Maxwell Allen; and sister, Barbara Stallworth King.
Survivors include her son, Benjamin “Bo” Collins Maxwell, Jr. of Atmore; one daughter, Mary Lynn Maxwell (Ronnie) Shirley of Tuscaloosa; one brother, Thomas Hugh Stallworth of Atmore; one sister, Julia Stallworth (Keith) King of Mobile; four grandchildren, Mary Ashley Allen, Hunter O’Neill Allen, Allison Shirley Verhine and Lindsey Elizabeth Shirley; and one great-grandchild, Robert James Verhine, Jr.
Services were held Friday, January 30, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church of Atmore with Rev. Debora Bishop officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
