Neal Warren Gafford

Mr. Neal Warren Gafford, age 57, native of Cantonment  and longtime resident of Citronelle, AL, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015.
He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Gafford.
Mr. Gafford was the owner/operator of Tri-State Machine Works, Inc. for the past 10 years. He had worked as a machinist for over 35 years in the local area. He was an avid outdoors man, loved to hunt and fish. He also had a passion for NASCAR and Alabama football “ROLL TIDE ROLL” and cooking for his family. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather. His happiest times were spent with his grandchildren and family.
Mr. Gafford is survived by his wife, Cherry Desporte Gafford, mother, Clarine Gafford, children, David Neal Gafford (Amanda), Chad Matthew Gafford , stepdaughters, Shannon Johnson (Joshua) and Stephanie Douglas. He is also survived by his siblings, Elwin Gafford (Charlotte), Michael Gafford (Ann), Judy Gafford Fehl and his grandchildren, Mackenzie DuVal, Zachary Miller, Michael Paul Gafford and Aaden Matthew Gafford.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, AL, on Friday, March 13, 2015, from 6:-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Celeste Road, Saraland, AL.

Katherine “Kathy” A. O’Rourke Kroll

After a long hospitalization, Katherine “Kathy” A. O’Rourke Kroll passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

At the young age of 66, our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend was reunited with her husband and soulmate of 44 years, Tommy Kroll. Kathy was a devoted mother to her son, Jerry Kroll (Toni) and her daughter, Robyn Michelle Kroll Lockhart (Rob). She was an awesome, doting grandmother of her grandson, Tyler and her granddaughter, Simone and was always showering them with love, gifts and praise. She enjoyed family gatherings and decorating for every holiday, often lighting up the neighborhood with Christmas decorations.

Kathy was born on February 19, 1949, in Pensacola, where she lived most of her life. She was a graduate of Pensacola High School. Kathy and Tommy wed in 1968 and were never far apart, sharing life together as business owners of Echo Bowling Lanes, Michelle’s Goonyland Golf and Stateline O’Yes Lotto. In her younger years, Kathy was very active in the Pensacola Women’s Bowling Association. Most recently, she had joined the Krewe of Blues. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, casino gambling, flower arranging, art, reading and living for the moment.

In addition to her two children, their spouses and two grandchildren; she is survived by her mother, Tat McNeal; uncle, Charles King (Clora); aunts, Clara Wilkes and Ida Ruth King; sisters, Elaine Price (Andy) and Trish Eliason (Jim); a nephew, Eddie Garrison (Kati) and numerous extended family and friends.

On Friday, March 13, 2015, the family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. and a celebration of Kathy’s life will follow at 5 p.m. at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

The family would like to thank the Pensacola Lung Group, the staff of Sacred Heart SICU and the Sacred Heart Palliative Care team for their compassionate care for Kathy and her family during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following charities; Pensacola Children’s Chorus, Hotel for Cats & Dogs or the Sacred Heart Palliative Care Service.

James “Billy” Young Lewis

James “Billy” Young Lewis, 78, of Pensacola passed away on March 7, 2015. He was born on September 19, 1936, in Dothan, AL. James graduated from Bay High School in Panama City in 1955. He retired from N. Goldring in Pensacola, owned and operated Warrington Bakery for over 12 years, owned his own courier business for the past 10 years, and at the time of his death was delivering medications for Thrifty Drug Store.

James was a member of Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola for the past 28 years where he drove the van for 22 years during the 10 year revival and he was the Man of the Year at his church in 2014.

James was preceded in death by his father, David Young Lewis and his grandchildren, Clarence Paul “CP” Lewis and James Lee Lewis.

Survivors include: his mother, Dorothy Doris (Jo) Lewis of Panama City; his wife of 28 years, Martha Lewis of Pensacola; his sons, Kirk Lewis (Kim) of Molino, Paul Lewis of Foley, and Mark Lewis (Cindy) of Pensacola; his daughter, Connie Currie of Thomasville, GA; his stepchildren, Dawn Ravert (Richard) of Panama City, Debra Christman (Roy) of Colorado Springs, CO, Diane Oglesbee of NM; and David Hockett of Pensacola; 20 grandchildren;13 great grandchildren who called him “Buddy”; and many close friends.

Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until memorial service begins at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Brownsville Assembly of God.

James was always known for his great sense of humor and ability to put a smile on everybody’s face, and will truly be missed by all.

Quinn Morgan Miller

Mr. Quinn Morgan Miller, age 67 of Flomaton  passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at his home.

Mr. Miller was born in Brewton and spent his lifetime in the Flomaton area. He was retired from CSX Railroad and was a member of First Baptist Church of Flomaton. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his father, Morgan William Miller.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Miller of Pineview, AL; wife, Mrs. Joyce Miller of Flomaton; daughters, Kellie (Leroy) Steele and Kristi Miller, both of Flomaton ; sister, Delores (Glenn) Johnson of Flomaton ; grandsons, Jackson Steele, John Miller Steel, Matthew Steele and Lee Steele.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dustin Stockstill and Dr. Jerry Keese officiating.

Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Brewton.

Pallbearers will be Chris Saxon, Chad Saxon, Tray Jackson, Pepi Daw, Morgan Johnson, Craig Turner, Willie Johnson and Christopher Rowland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Little, Robert Holt, Hayward Rowland, Louis Tharpe, Brent Smith, Ray Uptagraft, Ronnie Levins, Charles Smith, Larry Daw.

Kathleen Anniece Gibson

Mrs. Kathleen Anniece Gibson, 58, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015, in Atmore.

Mrs. Gibson was a native of Pensacola and a life long resident of Atmore. Mrs. Gibson was a very loving and giving person. She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church. Her parents, Otis and Juanita Gibson and sister, Jenell Gibson preceded her in death.

She is survived by her two sons, Joseph (Sonya) Salmons of Pace and Brian (Kristian) Culverhouse of Atmore; two daughters, Juanita (Tony) Carlton of Bay Minette and Carolyn Grym of Atmore; three brothers, Otis Clayton (Susan) Gibson of Walnut Hill, Andrew Len (Terryle) Gibson of Pace, and Joseph David (Judy) Gibson of Pace; sister, Sandra Gibson of Russellville, KY; nine grandchildren, Charlie, Dalton, Felisha, Eric, Savannah, Katee, Ashton, Natalee and Serenity and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 13, 2015, at 1 p.m.  at the Gospel Lighthouse Church with Rev. Martin Gehman officiating.

Burial will be at the Springhill Methodist Cemetery, Lenox, AL at  3 p.m.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 12, 2015, from 6-8 pm. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore.

Pallbearers will be Joey Gibson, Brian Culverhouse, Shawn Gibson, Junior Nall, Dalton Nall and Gary Sanders.

Novelle “Datchie” Floyd

Novelle “Datchie” Floyd age 93 of Jay, passed away in Milton on March 10, 2015.

Novelle was a lifelong resident of Jay and enjoyed attending services at Pine Grove Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, sister, and friend to those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ben Floyd, sisters Merle Lewis, Eloise Bradley, Lela Mae Nelson, and Hazel Rowell, brothers J.B Lewis and Oliver Lewis.

She is survived by Ben (Deborah) Floyd, grandchildren Kerry Lucas, Christian Grimes, and McKenzie Hawkins, and a very loving niece Lynette Johnson.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday March 12, 2015, at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Jay  with Brother Robert Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Frank Rowell, Mike Rowell, Willie Trawick, Buddy Bradley, Ken Lewis, and Shorty Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Phillips, Roger Floyd, Ben West, Jerry Rowell, and Ricky Ellis.

Mildred Elois Fore Newby

March 10, 2015

Mrs. Mildred Elois Fore Newby age 86 of Highway 31 in Brewton, passed away Thursday evening March 5, 2015, at a Jay health care facility after a brief illness. Mrs. Newby was a native of Fannie, AL, and a life-long resident of the Brewton area. She was owner/operator of Newby’s Pawn & Gun and was a member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters,  Becky (Ken) Bethea of Brewton,  Joyce (Quinn) Miller of Flomaton, Judy (Keith) Simms of Brewton; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Roy Newby.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Elois Fore Newby were hedl Sunday March 8, 2015  at Craver’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dustin Stockstill officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery in Brewton.

Pallbearers were George Jackson III, Chris Saxon, Chad Saxon, Richie Brantley, Darryl Fore and Cain Ledbetter.

John Douglas Rabon

March 8, 2015

John Douglas Rabon 93 of Excel, passed away March 5, 2015, in Monroeville. He was born May 26, 1921, in De Ridder, LA to the late John Wesley and Della Rabon. Mr. Rabon helped his father in the turpintine business in Osaka, AL. He served with the 26th Bombardment Squadron as an Aerial Gunner during WWII and was honorably discharged from the United States Army-Air Force. He had worked at WABB Radio Station for over 20 years and retired in 1985. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloyce Rabon; and two grandchildren, Michael Rabon and Lee Rabon.

He is survived by his two sons, Joe Darryl (Edy) Rabon of Long Beach, CA and George Douglas (Vikki) Rabon of Gulf Shores; one daughter Devita R. (Daryl) Day of Excel; grandchildren, Kimberly Dean (Justin) Myers, Joe Darryl (Bridget) Rabon, Jr., Amy Rabon (Seth) Goldman, George Wesley Rabon, Christopher Randall Kinsey and Jon Michael Bell; great-grandchildren, Heaven Rabon, Madelaine Myers, Cohen Myers, Abby Rabon, Aiden Douglas Rabon, Jody Goldman, Kylie Goldman, William Flowers and Madelaine Gray Kinsey.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors and Bro. Justin Myers officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

George William Bridges

Mr. George William Bridges, 80, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, in Pensacola.

Mr. Bridges was a native of Leavenworth, Washington and a resident of Atmore for the past 40 years. His mother-in-law, Reva McGhee and brother, Gordon Morrison, precede him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty Joyce Bridges of Atmore; son, Robin Jay of Atmore; two daughters, Kelly (Jay) Milstid of Stockton and Patricia Cameron; grandchildren, Meghan Cameron, Ethan Powell, Skylyn Milstid and Chason and Ashley Jay and special friend, Annice and Don Atwell of Dothan.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. William Bubba Rolin officiating.

Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jay Kenny Milstid, Robin Jay, Chason Jay, Larry Jackson, Don Atwell and Matthew Luker.

Daisy Marie Seals Porter

March 8, 2015

Daisy Marie Seals Porter entered into glory on March 4, 2015. She was born February 6, 1928, in Chumuckla.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert H. Porter, Jr. Together they served the congregation of Farm Hill Holiness Church in Cantonment for 43 years. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Viola Joiner Seals, four brothers and one sister and a very dear daughter in law, Brenda Porter.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters, Bobby (Earlene) Porter, Bert Porter, Ben (Donna) Porter; and Bernard Porter, Betty (Larry) Houck, and Bonnie (Ron) Carnley. Also left to cherish her memory are 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to a special family friend, Mrs. Susie Conners, for her faithful service to the Porter family. A special thanks also to Mrs. Jean Sawyer, Dr. Sheldon Harigel and the staff at Atmore Community Hospital for their compassionate care of mom.

Funeral services were held at Farm Hill Holiness Church on Madrid Road in Cantonment on Saturday, March 7, 2015.

Services were conducted by Rev. Clyde Hughes and Rev. Ronald Hall.

Pallbearers were Craig Kast, Brian Porter, Caleb Taylor, Dayton Porter, Billy Stacey and Kelly Perry.

Honorary pallbearers are all members of the Farm Hill Holiness Church.

Burial services will follow at the Morgan Cemetery on Highway 29 in Molino.
