Mary Beatrice (Bea) Hefner

Mary Beatrice (Bea) Hefner, 84, of Pensacola, went to meet her Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2015. She was born Mary Beatrice Knott on February 16, 1931, to Anna Beatrice Knott in Washington, D.C. and was raised in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norris. Mary was a woman of many passions, extending her loving care as a nurse to patients at Baptist Hospital. Having survived breast cancer, she adored Camp Blue Bird and making bird houses. With her husband, Mary was an avid traveler, spending many days visiting and commemorating the past with former World War II-era friends across the country. Undoubtedly, her favorite past time was serving her church family at St. John’s Catholic Church.

She has now been reunited with her beloved husband of 50 years, James Carlos Hefner; her brothers, Charles and Joseph Norris; and her son-in-law, James Smith.

She is survived by her sisters, Dot Wall and Loretta Demars; her four children, Delores Smith, Richard Hefner (Patty), Kenneth Hefner (Ruth), and Peg Hurst (Johnny); nine grandchildren, Brian London (Susan), Allison Thackston (Willie), Stephanie Miller (Billy), Kirsten Carrion (Armando), Andrew Hefner (Genny), Bianca McCrocklin (Russell), Haze Hefner, Deanna Parker (Marlin), Jake Hefner; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 23, 2015, at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. James J. Flaherty officiating.

Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Andrew Hefner, Jake Hefner, Armando Carrion, Russell McCrocklin, Michael Miller, David Miller, Ren Avant, Chad Kelly, and Hunter Thackston (honorary).

The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers at Covenant Hospice and Mary’s dear friend Wanda Kelly for their kindness and compassion.

Kimberly Ann Beal

Kimberly Ann Beal, 47, of Pensacola, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 7, 2015. Kim was born in Miami, FL, to Mildred and William Jennings. Kim lived life fully, passionately, bravely and courageously. She showed love to everyone she came in contact with and everyone loved her. Kim loved the beach, singing karaoke, and traveling; but most of all she loved spending time with her grandbabies and they loved spending time with their Maw Maw. She was unstoppable and she took anything she wanted with a smile.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Jennings; sister, Vickie McKee; her aunt and uncle, Wanda and Billy Bridgman; as well as her grandma, Jessie Calhoun.

Kimberly is survived by her children, Natasha, Timothy and April; her grandkids, Jasmine Beal, Timberly Carey, Miranda and Dalton Gibson, and Zoey Littlefield; father, William Jennings; four brothers, Johnny, Roger, Richard and Ronnie Fuller; one sister, Bonnie Brewer; her boyfriend of 17 years, John Edge; mother and father-in-law, Sandra and James Beal; father of her children and good friend, Tim Beal, Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorial services were held Monday, March 23, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Faith Chapel Funeral Home to help with the cost of the services.

Herman W. Boudreaux

March 20, 2015

Herman W. Boudreaux, 35 of Cantonment, went to be with the Lord after a life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. He was loved by many but loved many more. He was an ASE certified mechanic and a professional ballroom dancer.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Elizabeth Munstereifel Boudreaux, Sr.; and maternal grandmother, Frances Hyde Koch.

Herman is survived by his wife, Holly Boudreaux; step-daughter, Haley Smeltzer; parents, George and Nina Boudreaux, Jr.; sister, Shannon (Jeff) Cox; nieces, Erica and Laura Cox; and step-children, Angel and Dustin Simmons; and many, many friends who loved and cared for him.

We would like to thank the staff of Sacred Heart Hospital- Bayou Towers for all the care given to Herman.

Floyd W. Coleman

March 20, 2015

Floyd W. Coleman, 80, of Pensacola, died Sunday, March 15, 2015. He was born in Enon, FL and graduated from Ernest Ward High School. Floyd served in the U.S. Army before a 30 year retirement from Bellsouth in 1987. While employed he was an active member of Telephone Pioneers and involved in community work.

Floyd was a devoted husband, father and follower of Jesus Christ. He was ordained into the ministry at Enon Baptist Church where he became interim pastor. After moving to Gonzalez in 1974 he became a member and a deacon at Gonzales Baptist Church. He was a 50 plus year member as 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner belonging to Hadji Shrine Temple Highlanders Unit. Floyd also volunteered his free time as a driver and transported children to and from the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Floyd owned and operated Gulf Breeze Propellers, Inc. He was truly one of a kind to many, all of whom have been deeply impacted by his loving, generous spirit and will never be the same without his presence in their lives. Floyd never hesitated to help anyone at any time whether a stranger, friend or family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Coleman; and his parents, John H. and Stella Coleman.

Floyd is survived by the love of his life of 50 years, Myrtle G. Coleman; son, Michael W. Coleman; sisters, Sharon “Bobbie” Dawson and Faye (Pete) Peterson; and grandchildren, Cam and Braidon Fredricksen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Ray Chewning officiating.

Burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Arnold Lindsey

Mr. James Arnold Lindsey, 59, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015, in Mobile.

Mr. Lindsey was a native of Stockton, Alabama and a resident of Canoe for most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Zuline Lindsey; brother, Thomas Ray Lindsey; and sister, Annie Lindsey.

Survivors include his three sisters, Frances (Mack) Harrelson of Canoe, Martha Lindsey of Creola, AL and Claresse Foster of Rabun; four nephews and four nieces.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Dean Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 from noon until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mack Harrelson, Ricky Harrelson, Wendell Harrelson, Jimmy Boutwell, Shawn Boutwell and Coy Boutwell.

Rebecca Lynn Stacey Warrick

Rebecca Lynn Stacey Warrick, age 49, of Jay, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015, in Pensacola. Lynn was a graduate of Century High School. She loved playing Words with Friends and was much loved by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffery Warrick; her father, Fred Stacey; grandparents, Tally and Susan Atkins, and Mildred Stacey.

Lynn is survived by her sons, Jeffery Warrick Jr. and Tally (Cindel) Warrick; mother, Irene and stepfather, Ed Daughtery; mother-in-law, Carol Warrick; brother, Wayne Stacey; step-brother, James Scott; step-sister, Ellen (Lonnie) Hawsey; and step-brother Dale (Suzette) Scott.

Funeral services will be held for Lynn on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Matthew Dobson officiating.

Her burial will follow at Jay City Cemetery.

A visitation will be held to celebrate Lynn’s life from 1 p.m. until service time.

Calvin W. “Boogie” Hayles

March 17, 2015

Mr. Calvin W. “Boggie” Hayles, 84, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015, in Bay Minette.

Mr. Hayles was a native and lifelong resident of Lottie. Mr. Hayles was founder and chief of Lottie Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief for 16 years and  was an active member until his death. He was retired from NAS Pensacola, a veteran of  the US Army and was a farmer. He was affectionately known as “Pop” by family and friends. He was member of the Lottie United Methodist Church.

Calvin Hayles, Jr. (Bubba) precedes him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Earlene Killam Hayles of Lottie; one son, Keith (Kathy) Hayles of Lottie; one daughter, Betty Lynn (David) Corley of Lottie; two sisters, Ila Mae Kendrick of Rosinton, AL and Eunice McNeil of Semmes, AL; four grandchildren, Justin, Riley, Blane and Jerrod; and one great-grandchild, Keaton.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 20, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Judd Coggin and Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial will follow at Lottie Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2015 from noon until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jerrod Hayles, Blane Waltman and four firemen.

Honorary pallbearers will be volunteer firemen.

William I. McCurdy

March 17, 2015

William I. McCurdy, 94 of Pensacola, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1921, in Century to the late William and Florence Morris.

Mr. McCurdy was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the Navy Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marie; one son, Bill (Betty) McCurdy; two grandchildren, Troy (Vicki) McCurdy and Terry (Randy) English; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three stepchildren, Lamar Simpson, Shirley Simmons, and Pam Green; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Allen Harp officiating.

Burial will follow in Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Theresa Marie Houston

March 16, 2015

Theresa Marie Houston, U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Ret., age 58, of Pace, FL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and faithful canine companion “Tibby,” on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Theresa was born in Dearborn, Michigan to Edmond and Leona Russell. She was a proud member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, in Pensacola and a Vietnam Era and Gulf War veteran.

Theresa was a graduate of Asheville–Buncombe Technical Community College, in Asheville, NC, where she earned a degree in Dental Hygiene.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James F.; her cherished daughter, Kelly (Andrew) Meadows, of Ft. Walton Beach; loving step-daughter, Enana (Howie) Jenkins, of Franklin, N.C.; beloved grandson, Owen Jenkins and beloved granddaughter, Ashley Coleman, both of Franklin, NC; her mother, Leona (Tom) Slagle, of Kernersville, NC; brother, Randy (Rachel) Russell, of Asheville, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Sunday, March 15, 2015, with Rev. Jason Adams and Rev. Larry Anderson officiating.

A private cremation is entrusted to Faith Chapel North Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial donations in Theresa’s name can be made to Pace Center for Girls, 1028 Underwood Avenue, Pensacola, FL 32504.

Thelma Elizabeth Brown

March 16, 2015

Thelma Elizabeth Brown, 91, of Atmore, died March 14, 2015, at the Century Health and Rehabilitation Center in Century.

Mrs. Brown was born November 30, 1923, in Frisco City, to Gus and Janie McNeil. She graduated from Frisco City High School in 1941 and then enlisted in the US Navy in May 1944. She received her initial training at Naval Training Station Bronx, N.Y. and then was transferred to Washington, D.C. until the end of her enlistment. She returned to Atmore in 1964 to raise her family of six children. Afterwards, Mrs. Brown started a new career as a ward clerk at the Atmore Community Hospital, the Monroe County Hospital in Monroeville and the North Baldwin Hospital in Bay Minette. She was an active member of Atmore Baptist Temple until failing health prevented her from attending.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, Patricia Brown of Pensacola; five sons and their spouses, Mike and Karen Brown of Carencro, LA, Alvin and Becky Brown of Atmore, David and Teresa Brown of Davisville, Stephen and Gail Brown of Atmore and James and Linda Brown of Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore with the Rev. Robert Heard officiating.

Internment will follow in Union Cemetery in Frisco City, AL.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015, from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
