Elizabeth Christine (Flowers) McGlothren

Elizabeth Christine (Flowers) McGlothren, 81, of Pensacola, passed away on June 29th. 2015, at Covenant Hospice Center located in West Florida Hospital after losing the battle against cancer.
She was born at home on November 8, 1933, in Atmore,to Helon Grissett Flowers and White Hugh Flowers. She enjoyed reading, watching TV, playing games on the computer, listening to country and western and gospel music, spending time with family and tending roses. She maintained the family home while married to her former spouse, Preston J. McGlothren, deceased, while he served in the Army, Air Force and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department.
She is survived by her mother, Helon Grissett Flowers (103), children, Sharon (John) Vonderhaar, Wayne (Melanie) McGlothren, JoAnn Wolff and Martha (Harold) Buttlar; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Curtis James Flowers and Bill Hush Flowers; and sister, Ella Verline Smith.
She was predeceased by her father, Hugh Flowers and granddaughter, Diane Bush.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment, 10:30 a.m.with her son, Wayne McGlothren, officiating. Family viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:00A a.m., friends from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be held in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens Cemetery located on Nine Mile Road following the services.
Pallbearers are Carl Vonderhaar, Erik Vonderhaar, Paul Hudson, Robert Turpin, David Lewis, Shane Bramlette, John Huffman and George Marcelonis. Honorary pallbearers are John Vonderhaar, Harold Buttlar, Byron Langdon, Michael Watts, Bob Glasgow, Jim Lee, and David Lewis Scott Hutson.

lemon Earnest Dale, Jr., 81 years old, passed away on June 29, 2015, in Pensacola.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Dale; four daughters, son, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be performed at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 916 Booker St., Cantonment on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 1 pm.
Sarah Ann “Sadie” Deweese Haines

Sarah Ann “Sadie” Deweese Haines, of Cantonment, was born in Jasper, AL on December 22, 1935.
She grew up in Eldridge, AL, (Walker County), and graduated from the University of Montevallo with a degree in speech therapy. Sadie taught thousands of Escambia County’s children, and was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Sophia “Sophie” Margaret Walker DeWeese Jackson, and her father, Leo Crawford DeWeese. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Richard Wallace Haines II; sister (cousin) Barbara Walker Jones (Raymond), her children; Richard Wallace Haines III (Toni) and Sarah Leigh Haines Steele (Matthew), five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Sadie had a passion for life and a love for giving and sharing her joy with others. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held, Monday July 6 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home from 9-10 a.m. Service is at 10 a.m. and burial to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please bring elementary school supplies to the viewing to be donated to a local elementary school in Pensacola.

Mr. Jefferson Smith, 60, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015, in Foley.
Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. His wife, Linda Smith; parents, Henry and Lula Smith; brothers, Roy James, Johnny Smith and Joel Smith; and sisters, Sarah Libby Paul, Edna Flowers and Ruth Lumbard precede Mr. Smith in death.
Survivors include his two daughters, Shelia (Thomas Lindsey) Smith of Stapleton, AL and Becky Smith (Brandon) Henderson of Atmore; one brother, Marvin (Carol) James of Foley; two sisters, Elaine (Bo) White of Bay Minette and Donna (Don) Nefzer of Mobile; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Jackie) Presley of Pensacola; two grandchildren, Jamie Kimbler and Katie Godwin; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 29, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Welch officiating.
Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alan (Bo) White, Jimmy White, Phillip White, Kelly White, Billy White and Robbie Garrett.
Honorary pallbearer was Tony Embley.

Mr. Curtis Edward Golden, 66, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015, in Flomaton.
Mr. Golden was a native of Flomaton, former resident of Illinois, where he lived 28 years, and a resident of Flomaton. Mr. Golden was an avid hunter. His parents, Pete and Sis Golden, precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Golden of Flomaton; two sons, Darren (Paula) Golden of Cerro Gordo, IL and Gary Golden of Flomaton; one sister, Debra (Allen) Smith of Flomaton; and two grandchildren, Samantha Murray and Elizabeth Garner.
Graveside services will be Monday, July 6, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Little Escambia Baptist Cemetery.

Andrew Lennon Moorer Sr.

Andrew Lennon Moorer Sr., of New Bern, NC, passed away peacefully in his home, Friday, June 26, 2015.
Andrew was born in McKinnonville, FL, to Clyde and Flossie Moorer. Andrew graduated from Ernest Ward High School in 1973 and shortly thereafter joined the Army where he remained until 1980. Andrew went to work for the government as a civil servant for the Naval Aviation Depot in Pensacola. Andrew and family relocated to Havelock, NC, in 1994 due to the closure of NADEP Pensacola, later making New Bern their home in 1996. Andrew retired in January 2015 as the H-1 Integrated Maintenance Concept Shop Supervisor, FRC East, Cherry Point, after a total of 38 years of dedicated service to the government.
Andrew is survived by his wife of 29 years Sylvia Moorer, his mother, Flossie Moorer of Walnut Hill, his daughters, Monique Spencer of Pensacola, Nicole (Turhan) Carroll of Dublin, OH, his son, Andrew Moorer II of New Bern, his grandchildren Ian Rockette and Lennon Carroll, his siblings William Moorer (Jeannette), Sammie Lee Moorer (Shirley), Roger Moorer, Barbara Robinson, all of Walnut Hill; Larry Moorer (Dawn) of Cantonment; Andrea Moorer (Christi) of Beaumont, TX; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Andrew was preceded in death by his father William C. Moorer, daughter Kisha Spellman, and brother-in-law Darwin Robinson.
Arrangements are being handled by Christian Memorial Funeral Home in Atmore where there will be a viewing on Thursday, July 2nd from 6-8 p.m. Andrew’s celebration of life will occur 1 p.m. Friday, July 3rd at New St. Paul Baptist Church in Walnut Hill where he will later be interred.
Henry Joel Day

Henry Joel Day, 93 of Atmore, passed away June 28, 2015, in Atmore. He was born on June 23, 1922, in Huxford, AL, to the late John Bernard and Vera Dreadin Day. He worked at Bateson Furniture Store as salesmen for many years and had owned Day’s Grocery in Atmore. He was instrumental in securing the VFW building in Atmore and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He served in the United States Army during WW II and fought in the battle of the bulge and two other major battles. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Raymond Day.
He is survived by his wife Louise Watford Day of Atmore. Two sons Sammy (Sandra) Day and Randy (Kitty) Day both of Atmore and one daughter Sybil Day of Fairhope; two brothers Winston Day of Cantonment; Wendell (Diane) Day of Petaluma, CA; one sister Mildred Jones of Atmore.; four grandchildren Marla Driver, Kelly Gurganus, Natalie Sandoval and Jarrod Day; and six great grandchildren Caleb, Canaan, Zane, Ava, Samuel and Sawyer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors.
Active pallbearers will be Jarrod Day, Jay Driver, Roland Sandoval, Caleb Driver, Billy Watford and Mike Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Atmore VFW.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Mrs. Melva Lou Howell, 73, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Flomaton.
Mrs. Howell was a native and former resident of Fairhope and resided in Flomaton most of her life. She was of the Holiness faith. Her husband, Levon Howell; parents, Floyd and Eloise Knowles; sister, Mildred Emmons; grandson, Caleb Hallford; and son-in-law, George Hallford precede her in death.
She is survived by her son, Paul Levon (Samantha Kay) Howell of Flomaton; three daughters, JoAnne (Will) Chavers, Sandra Hallford and Sharon K. (David) Baggett all of Flomaton; one brother, Billy Joe Knowles of Flomaton; one sister, Myrtice Carnley of Brewton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. David Baggett officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lambeth-Boutwell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim Manning, Kevin Knowles, Keith Baggett, Ethan Howell, Jesse Baggett and Zack Knowles.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry W. Davis and Junior Davis.

Marcelete (Mrs. Lete) Daugherty

Marcelete (Mrs. Lete) Daugherty went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.
Mrs. Lete was born in Molino, on May 19, 1927. She was a member of Central Chapel and was an employee of WalMart on Creighton Road for 23 years. She considered her co-workers her extended family. She was loving, kind, considerate and put others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nolan Lorenzo Martin; mother, Rosa Lee Powell; stepmother, Mae Martin; husband, David Daugherty; stepsons, Bill and Pete Daugherty; and brothers, Cecil Martin, Randy Stewart and Howard Martin.
Mrs. Lete is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Gary) DuBose; granddaughter, Brittany (Geoff) Woodliff; step-grandson, Starsky (Terri) DuBose; sisters, Allie Watford, Marie Smith and Voncille Stewart; daughter-in-law, Kaye Daugherty; and many nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 29, 2015 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with funeral services following immediately at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Clayton McCormick officiating.
Interment will take place at Pugh Cemetery.

Billy “Bill” Floyd Fitzpatrick

Billy “Bill” Floyd Fitzpatrick, 83, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by Carolyn “Faye” (Brown) Fitzpatrick, his first wife of 55 years; and sisters, Allene Harris and Ruthy Cooke.
He is survived by his loving wife of five years, Betty Jo (Castleberry) (Hyatt) Fitzpatrick. He is also survived by his eldest daughter, Barbara Faye Holt, (Gary) and their children, Samantha, Joanna and Miranda; his son, David William Fitzpatrick, Sr., (Diane) and their children, Erika Burkett, (Anthony), Kristina, Carolyn and David, Jr.; his youngest daughter, Laura “Beth” Davis, (Thomas) and their children, Laura Kiker, (Hunter) and Andrew; and three great-grandchildren, Lila Faith Kiker, Millee Grayce and Gabriel Anthony Burkett. He is also survived by Betty’s children, Claudia Simmons, (Tommy) and their children, Kent and Neil; Charlotte Peacock, (Lloyd) and their children, Cassie and Beau; Lynn Dieterich, (Russ) Lynn‘s daughter, Tasha Thaxton; Catherine Stevens and her daughter, Hannah Jo; and Joel Hyatt.
Bill was born in Lorena, Texas on February 6, 1932, to Della “Laura” Lee (Grier) and Floyd Arnold Fitzpatrick. He studied accounting and finance at Baylor University. At 19 years old, he joined the Navy flight training program in Pensacola, where he met his first wife, Faye, on a blind date. They were married on March 25, 1955. He graduated in 1958 with a Bachelors of Arts degree from the Florida State University’s School of Business. He began his accounting career at Chemstrand/Monsanto. Then he worked for Pierre Brown, P.A. where he studied and passed the C.P.A. exam. Brown, Fitzpatrick and Brown, C.P.A., P.A. was formed and he worked there about 10 years. Bill then worked as the comptroller at Instrument Control Service, Inc. for a short time. In 1979, he started Bill F. Fitzpatrick, C.P.A., P.A. and retired in 1999.
Bill was blessed to be born into a loving Christian family and continued his Christian faith throughout his life. He also accomplished the art of being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Being a believer in Christ as his Savior from an early age, he was an active worker in the churches he attended throughout his life. Bill was known to all as an honest, kind, patient, generous and compassionate gentleman. His outward faith in God was highly visible to everyone that knew him.
Family was also very important to Bill and he considered himself blessed to have all his children living close by. He enjoyed participating in all his children’s and grandchildren’s activities such as camping, church softball, bowling and fishing. He had a blast watching his family grow up right in front of him. His children gave him nine grandchildren that he referred to as his “sweet little lumps of love.” His only wish was to grow old gracefully and enjoy every minute of it with his family.
In 2010, he was joined in marriage to Betty Jo Hyatt whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending his last five years with her.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Burkett, Andrew Davis, David Fitzpatrick, Jr., Hunter Kiker, Greg English and Gordon Gunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Caring and Sharing Sunday School Class of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Cantonment Rotary Club.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, at St. Luke United Methodist Church on Nine Mile Road.
Bill’s interment will be at Lathram Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cantonment.
Services will be directed by Reverend Larry Anderson and assisted by Reverend Johnny Webb and Reverend Rual Morris.
In lieu of flowers Bill requested that memorials be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church.
