Archie Milton Condon

Archie Milton Condon, 83 of Cantonment, went home to be with his Lord and his “Babe” on September 13, 2015. He was born on May 8, 1932, in Grants Pass, Oregon. He joined the Air Force on April 26, 1951. He was in field maintenance and become an airplane diesel mechanic. He served in the Korean and the Vietnam Wars before he retired from Eglin Air Force Base as a TSGT E6 on June 1, 1972.
He married his true love, Betty Marie Ray, on April 21, 1955. They spent 59 years together traveling the world and raising their children and grandchildren. In recent years Archie has been cared for by his loving daughter and son-in-law Georgette and Dean Harris.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty M. Condon; his mother, Berdetta P. Smith; and two children, Floyd M. Condon and Ethel M. Carmichael.
Archie is survived by his children, Georgette (Dean) Harris of Cantonment, Donald (Maureen) Condon of Shelburne,VT, Carolyn Hensley of Oak Hills, CA; and one sister, Billie Marie Jacoby of Wichita, KS.
Archie loved life and was a true and faithful friend to all who knew him. He loved classic country music with Hank Williams, Sr. being his favorite. He taught himself how to play the guitar and he loved a good pick ‘n’ and singin’. He also enjoyed a good western movie and he loved to watch John Wayne. Archie also loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of and sang in the choir at Farm Hill Methodist Church.
Archie will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him and his forever saying: “Don’t sweat the small stuff and the big stuff will take care of itself.”
Graveside services were held Friday, September 18, 2015, at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.

Chad Harvey Phillips

Mr. Chad Harvey Phillips, age 39, passed away September 14, 2015, from an apparent massive heart attack.
Chad, a native of Atmore, worked for Southland Instrument Services for several years. He was an outstanding athlete and alumni of the Class of 1995 at Escambia Academy. An avid fisherman, Chad loved sports of all kinds, especially Alabama football. Always with a smile on his face, Chad was full of life and a joy to be around. He always had a story to tell, and kept his family and friends entertained with his wit and that unforgettable smile. He enjoyed every day as if it were to be his last.
Chad was preceded in death by his father, Willian Harvey (Bill) Phillips; grandparents, Harvey L. and Mildred Phillips, and Odell Donaldson.
Chad is survived by the love of his life, Rebecca (Becky) Harper; mother, Peggy D. Phillips; two brothers, Sheldon (Casey) Phillips and Brandon (Marsha) Phillips; one sister, Chaselyn K. Phillips; grandmother, Joan S. Donaldson; mother-in-law, Mary Ann (Anthony) Black; father-in-law, Rod (Mary) Harper; brothers-in-law, Rocky (Kim) Harper, Matt (Jordan) Barnett, Kevin Barnett, Ben (Courtney) Black; sister-in-law, Celeste (Dennis) McCall; nephews, Brodie and Brayden Phillips, Garrett Harper, Landon and Luke Barnett; nieces, Zoie Phillips, Kendall Harper, Rachel and Emmalyn Black and Grayson McCall; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 3:30 pm from Johnson Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Chance and Rev. Diane Everette officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Marguerite (Maggie) Christian Newton Goforth

Marguerite (Maggie) Christian Newton Goforth, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Maggie was an adored wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Maggie leaves behind her beloved husband, Ret. Lt. Col. (USMC) Robert K. Goforth; son, Brian Goforth; daughter, Mary (Ed) Shontz; granddaughter, Mariah Christian Shontz; sisters, Mary (Bud) Newbill, Nancy (Harry) Shaver and Dixie (Jerry) Sansom; sister-in-law, Alida Newton; half-sister, Bobbi Wigland; half-brothers, Walter Newton and John Newton; brother-in-law, Arlie (Marilyn) Goforth and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 18, 2015, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015, 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Atmore.
Burial will be in Milton Cemetery in Milton at 1 p.m.
Bobby Little
September 16, 2015
Bobby Little, age 73, of Jay, passed away September 15, 2015, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He was born on September 26, 1941, in Macon, Mississippi to Julian Wade Little and Eula Mae Little. He resided in Jay since 1988. He moved here from Hamilton, Mississippi. He was a member of Jay First Baptist Church where he served as Brotherhood Director for several years. He was a driver for Texaco Trading and Transportation Company. He retired as an over the road truck driver after 50 plus years of service. He was leased to Landstar when he retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Julian Little.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laverne Little of Jay; sons, Glenn Bingham of Jay and Grant (Brandi) Bingham of Jackson, MS; Bob Wiygul of Columbus, MS; brother, Gaylan (Dorothy) Little of Macon, MS; grandchildren, Ethan Bingham and Lexi Bingham of Jay, Emerson and Presley Bingham of Jackson, MS; and members of the church family and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jay First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Jay First Baptist Church with Rev. Ladon Hall and Dr. George Fredricks officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Frank Rowell, Jimmy Lowry, Frank Green, Bert Settle, Bobby Frazier and Benny Youngblood.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Jay First Baptist Church family.

James Leon “Bobby” Gibson

James Leon “Bobby” Gibson, 71, a lifelong resident of Walnut Hill, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015, in Mobile. He was a retired electrician. He was born on December 28, 1943, in Pensacola, to the late Jack and Lois Agerton Gibson. He was a proud and active tribal member of The Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He also loved fishing, gardening and woodworking.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Gibson.
Survivors include two sons, Donnie (Katie) Gibson and Tommy Gibson all of Atmore; one daughter, Sandra Gibson (Jay) Chimento of Mobile; one sister, Joan Gibson of Walnut Hill; grandchildren, Ashley (Bo) McCall, Rebecca Gibson, Joey (Michelle) Mizell, Melissa (Quinn) Nichols, Savanah Chimento, Meagan Chimento, Joseph Chimento and Sarah Gibson; great-grandchildren, Landon Robertson, B.J.McCall, Zoey Gayle Mizell, Laiken Nichols, Madi Claire Nichols and Isabella Chimento; nephew, LeVan (Jennifer) Trull; aunt and uncle, Edward and Ann Agerton; cousins, James, Gene, and Robert Agerton and many, many aunts, uncles and cousins from our Gibson family.

Interment will follow in the Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Monette S. Owen, born December 13, 1924, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2015, in Hot Springs, AR. She was born in Ponce de Leon, FL to the late Sidney D. Sutton and Mattie Smith McDonald Sutton.
Monette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, Eugene “Gene” Darrell Owen; and all of her twenty-two sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her four daughters, Pat (Sam) Lovelace of Huntsville, AL, Jackie (Ron) Moore of Hot Springs Village, AR, Flynne (Jack) Mitchell of Salem, AL, and Debbie (Charlie) Reifschneider of Hot Springs Village, AR; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North,with Dr. Ted Traylor and Bro. Jerry Passmore officiating.

Ollie Mae Sapp, 93, of Cantonment, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a school bus driver for 30 years. She will be missed by all.
Ollie is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Sapp; daughter, Edith Cummings; son-in-law, Frank Cummings; grandson, Evan Cummings and sons-in-law, Buel Coleman and Norwood Ramsey.
She is survived by her sons, Curtis (Francis) Broadway, Thaxton (Lannie) Broadway and Tommy Broadway; daughters, Janice (Frank) Sellers, Mary Coleman, Mae Ramsey and Helen Harlow; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Margaret Griswold Rogers

Margaret Griswold Rogers, 97, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Atmore Community Hospital in Atmore. Mrs. Rogers was a native of Bullock County, Alabama. She graduated from Troy State Teachers College, now Troy University, majoring in elementary education. She taught school at Perote Elementary School in Perote, Alabama and A. C. Moore Elementary School in Atmore. After retiring from teaching, she spent her time volunteering at the hospital, senior center, and lending a helping hand where needed and enjoying a good game of bridge. She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Atmore.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, John Aaron Rogers; her parents, V. F. Griswold and Enola Meriwether Griswold; her brothers, John Lewis Griswold and Victor Fleming Griswold, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Betty Maxwell (Jim), Douglas Rogers (Marshall) and Jane Campbell (Jim); grandchildren, Emily Maxwell, Charles Bryan (Julie), and Layne Abee (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Jackson and Thompson Bryan and Conrad and Bella Abee; sister, Florence Griswold Evans; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Atmore, with Dr. Debora Bishop officiating.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Methodist Children’s Home.

Charles Rodney Hall, 60 of Atmore, passed away on September 9, 2015, in Mobile. He was born on August 31, 1955, in Atmore.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Doris Hall; two sisters, Lanell Cook and Shirley Diane Rushing.
Mr. Hall is survived by his daughter, Heather Hall; son, Christopher Hall of Atmore; one brother, Colvin Murph (Faye) of Bay Minette; six sisters, Carolyn Dees of Robertsdale, Nancy Roach (David) of Davisville, Bettye Hodges (Ken) of Pensacola, Sarah Ward (Mike) of Mobile, Rita Whatley of Atmore and Becky Holloway (James) of Odessa, TX; and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore on Monday, September 14, 2015.

Harold Carson Freeman

Harold Carson Freeman, 86, of Cantonment, passed peacefully in his sleep Saturday, August 29, 2015. He was born on May 04, 1929, to Willie Lynn Freeman and Mary Elizabeth Riggs.
Harold was a Pensacola native. His first job at age 13 was at Martine’s Restaurant. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1949. He served in the Naval Reserves in 1949-50. He joined the US ARMY National Guard from 1950-1953. He then worked a few years at Muldon Ford and worked most of his life at Chemstrand, Monsanto and Solutia where he retired.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Agnes Rimpf; parents, Willie Lynn and Mary Elizabeth; sister, Mary Yetter; sisters-in-law, Theresa Martin, Louella Rimpf, MaryAnn Rimpf; brothers-in-law, Max Yetter, Ted Garber, Jack Martin, Tony Rimpf, Frankie Rimpf, Joey Rimpf, Les Smith and Wayne Clark; and two nephews, Marlin and Gregg Rimpf.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Dennis (Lynn Holmes), Carson Freeman Jr. (Kaye) and Barbara Robinson (Michael); two granddaughters, Stephanie Glaze-Hewlett (Brandon) and Katie Freeman; six grandsons, Brian Dennis, Carson III, Michael and Zachary Freeman, Matthew and Will Robinson; one great-grandson, Joshua Glaze; one great-granddaughter, Kennedi Hewlett; sisters, Anna McSwain (Charles) and Dorothy Garber; brother, Donald Freeman (Lorraine); sisters-in-law, Helen Clark, Carrie Rimpf, Carol Rimpf, Joyce Rimpf; and brothers-in-law, Steve Rimpf and Charles McSwain.
A memorial visitation of family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Faith Chapel North.
A funeral mass will be scheduled at a later date at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
