Mr. Robert Lee Flowers, 51, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015, in Rabun, AL

Mr. Flowers was a native of Atmore and lifelong resident of Rabun. Mr. Flowers was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the New Hope Community Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Flowers; and sister, Tammy Carpenter.

Survivors include his mother, Nancy Barbarow of Perdido; wife, Betty Flowers of Rabun; two sons, Kevin Flowers of St. Cloud, FL and Jason (April) Hadley of Perdido; three daughters, Jennifer (Gino) Flowers of Ft. Walton, Shawanna (Tyrone) James of Bay Minette and Becky (Terry) Newsome of Perdido; two brothers, Malcolm (Cheryl) Harrelson of Perdido and Mikey (Shana) Harrelson of Atmore; two sisters, Diane Boatwright of Perdido and Susan (Ronnie) Paul of Rabun; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Boutwell, Brandon McNeil, Cody McNeil, Dudley Flowers, Terrence Newsome, Brad Newsome, Terrell Boutwell and Christopher Boatwright.

Fred E. Ware

August 3, 2015

Fred E. Ware, age 75 of Jay, passed away on August 3, 2015, in Jay. He retired from American Cyanamid after 33 years of service and was a member of the Jay Church of Christ. He also enjoyed woodworking and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Ware; former wife and mother of Deana and Anthony Ware, Kay Mixon Ware; and sisters, Florence Metcafe and Violet Baxley.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Ware; daughter, Deana (John) Pittman; son, Anthony Ware; son, Robert (Maureen) Griffin; daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Black; sisters, Lessie Adams and Wilena Getchell; brothers, Frank Ware, Carlton Ware and John (Simonne) Ware; grandchildren, Haley, Riley, and Nick Pittman; Bryan and Ashley Black and Andrew, Matt, Josh, Jill, and Angelyn; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. with Mike Mefford officiating services.

Burial will be at Cora Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Creekside Senior Living Facility, Jay Hospital and staff and Dr. Kelley for their kind and compassionate care given to our loved one.

Phyllis Walker Patrick

August 3, 2015

Phyllis Walker Patrick passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s on July 30, 2015. She was born in Atmore, on November 26, 1948, and graduated from Escambia County High School in 1967. She married the love of her life James Patrick on May 27, 1966.

Phyllis and Jim’s love of travel took them many places throughout the U.S., and they were known to go on a cross country adventure at a moment’s notice. Disney World was their favorite location, and they passed their love of Disney to their children and grandchildren. Many wonderful memories were made there. Phyllis was playful, kind and generous, and very devoted to her husband and children. Her love for her grandchildren was clear and they brought her immense joy.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, James; her son, David; and her parents, Robert L Walker and Meriam Walker Bryan.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Danforth (Kevin); brother, Stanley Walker (Kathleen); grandchildren, Emily, Nathan and Melanie Danforth; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and dear friend, Barbara Hobbs.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday August 5, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Elder Bobby Willis officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Lillian Foster Duke

August 3, 2015

Lillian Foster Duke, 87, went home to be with her Lord on July 31, 2015. She was born on February 14, 1928, to the late Clyde and Rosa Foster in Butler County, Alabama and has been a resident of Escambia County, FL since 1947. She retired from the Escambia County School District, was a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church for many years, and was a long-time advocate for the developmentally disabled.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo; and her son, Stanley.

She is survived by her son, Steven Duke (Belinda) of Shalimar, FL; daughter, Anna Duke Johnson (Frank) of Pensacola; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with the Reverend Ron Pouliot and Reverend Brad Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Pine Forest Road in Pensacola.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. prior to services.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staffs of Homestead Retirement Village, especially buildings C and D, and Covenant Hospice for their love and special care they gave our mother.

Betty Sue Brooks Wooten

Betty Sue Brooks Wooten, 81 of Atmore, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015, at her residence. She was retired from Wooten’s Pool Supply and Fairview Texaco. She was born in Brewton, on April 27, 1934, to the late Lavon and Bertha Jackson Brooks. She was also a charter member of Unity Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Wooten; grandson, Marc Wooten; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Phillips Wooten.

Survivors include one son, Tony (Linda) Wooten of Robinsonville; two daughters, Rebecca (Larry) Godwin of Atmore and Susan (Chris) Kirk of Canoe; three brothers, Robert (Patricia) Brooks and Johnny Brooks both of Hope Hull, AL and Mickey(Carol) Brooks of Montgomery; three sisters, Donna (Carl) Smith of Brownwood, TX, Lois (Dan) Montel of Huxford, and Jane (Jeff) Snyder of Tallahassee; four grandsons, Steven (Candace) Wooten, Blake Kirk, Tanner Kirk, and Garrett Kirk; four granddaughters, Wendy (Kevin) Classen, Kayla Godwin, Brandy (Mike) Myrick, and Elizabeth (Doug) Godwin; four great-grandsons: Blaine O’Brien, Logan Wooten, Elliot Classen and Phillip Myrick; three great-granddaughters, Loryn O’Brien, Ann-Elise Classen and Morgan Myrick; one great-great-grandson, John Marshall O’Brien;  one great-great-granddaughter, Lilly-Kate O’Brien; two granddaughters to be, Mary Maud Meacham and Meg McGuffin; and two special nieces, Sheila Ashcraft and Cindy Diamond

Services will be Monday, August 3, 2015, at 2 p.m. from the Unity Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Pickern officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be  Steven Wooten, Blake Kirk, Blaine O’Brien, Tanner Kirk, Garrett Kirk, and Elliot Classen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Wooten and John Marshall O’Brien.

Carmen M. Stephens

Carmen M. Stephens, 91, of Cantonment, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015.

Mrs. Stephens served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, was a WWII Veteran and retired Civil Service. She was a long time member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary/St. Jude. After retirement she volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital and was awarded the Spirit of Woman Award 1999-2000 for the State of Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Murdock C. Stephens; her parents, Aurelio I. and Tersa M. Miranda; brother, Ismael Miranda; and sister, Antonia Miranda.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her two sons, Erick N. (Linda) and Sherman R. (Diane) Stephens; grandchildren, Dawn and John Stephens; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Molino.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Rosary to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Tony Langford

Tony Langford was born June 22, 1961, in Pensacola and passed on to his Heavenly home July 29, 2015. He was an iron worker by trade and a hunter and fisherman at heart. A loving husband and faithful friend he always had a ready smile for all. He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Dicky” and Ann Langford.

He is survived by his wife, Luanne Langford; his sisters, Terri (Terry) Thompson, Tammi (Anthony) Mattheiss; his parents-in-law, Glen and Audrey Swicegood; two brothers-in-law, Brian (Debbie) Swicegood and John (Tina) Swicegood; cousins, Vicki (Keith) Traylor, Lisa (Kelly) Blevins; seven nieces and nephews; and seven great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August,  3 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with burial following in Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Stephanie Kotich Shullaw

Mary Stephanie Kotich Shullaw, 49, of Pensacola, surrounded by her family, passed away after an extended illness on Thursday, July 30, 2015.

Mary was born on December 28, 1965, in Pensacola to George and Madeline Kotich, the final addition to the family of seven. She called Pensacola her lifelong home.

Mary was preceded in death by both her parents.

Mary is survived by her husband of 23 years, Thomas Shullaw of Pensacola; two brothers, Stephen Kotich of Pensacola and Joseph Kotich of Brewton, AL; two sisters, Cindy Jackson (Charles) of Brewton and Sookie Wyse (Larry) of Pensacola; several nieces and nephews and special friend Billy Holley.

Graveside services will be at 4 pm at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in Brewton, AL.

Donna Dodge Tyree

Donna Dodge Tyree, born February 3, 1947, in Watertown, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of July 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna loved to enjoy life to the fullest. She loved to play cards (and cheat), dance, travel, watch movies, and spoil her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, amazing mother, nana, sister, and friend. Donna was an active member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church in McDavid.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Tyree.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristy (Eddie) Carnley; grandson; Lane Carnley; granddaughter: Ashtyn Carnley; brothers: Jimmy (Bertha) Dodge and Tommy Dodge; nephews, and many friends.

The family will receive friends at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, July 30, 2015, from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service. Burial will follow in Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Reverend Nathan Brown will officiate.

Bernice Grace Gipson

Bernice Grace Gipson, 87 of Walnut Hill, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at her residence. She was retired from Vanity Fair Mills as a seamstress. She was born in Gateswood, AL to the late John P. and Lula Bell Young Ward.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jackson “Gip” Henry Gipson.

Survivors include one son, Bro. Joe (Sylvia) Gipson; two daughters, Judy (Donald) Lambert and Sue (Steve) Byrd, all of Walnut Hill; nine grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday, August 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Spence and Bro. Ray McCullough officiating.

Interment will follow in Dry Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Morris, James Morris, Wiley Gipson, Anthony Gipson, Tim Lambert and Shane Byrd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Creel, Tucson Amerson, Nicky Lambert, and Ryan Lambert.
