Francies M. Burkette Kearley

Francies M. Burkette Kearley passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016, following a short stay in hospice. Francies was 79 years old and is a 30 year resident of Walnut Hill. Francies lived a life that was full of the outdoors. Everyone who knew her knew of her passion for fishing and hunting. If she could just spend a few hours, or more, wetting a hook her day was made. So much the better if she caught something and could bring it home and serve a great meal with it. Her next passion was her grandchildren, to just be around them fishing, watching them play sports or just discussing the day’s events was something she would not willingly miss.

Her husband, Charles Kearley, precedes her in death.

She is survived by three children, James (Mary) Stepp of Hendersonville, NC, David (Vicky) Kearley of Walnut Hill, and her daughter, Marie (George) Paulsen of Pensacola. Francies is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kenny, Jason, Bannie, Jesse, Noelle, Taylor and Sarah along with four great-grandchildren, Alexia, Blake, Devon and Ava.

Francies will be missed by family and everyone who had the good fortune to know her.

Family and friends are invited to arrive at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South for visitation. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

She will be laid to rest with her late husband, Charles, at Barrancas National Cemetery.

James Oglesby

January 29, 2016

James “Fat Baby” Oglesby, was born June 6, 1943, unexpectedly passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, after a brief illness. He was 72 years old. James was proceeded in death by his mother, Frances Marie Oglesby and father, Nick Harold Oglesby.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elaine; brother, Jimmy Oglesby; four children, Terry Clark (Brian) of Beulah, Susie Peebles (Eric) of Pensacola, Johnny Oglesby of Flomaton, and Tammy Wentworth (Duane) of Pace; nine beautiful grandchildren, Amanda Watts, Adrian Cross, Anthony Cross, Ashley Cross, Alec Bailey, Alan Patti, Chad Wentworth, Jacobi Wentworth, and Meghan Oglesby; three step-grandchildren, Tucker Peebles, Jesse Peebles and Wyatt Peebles; ten great-grandchildren, Antonio Oglesby, Kristopher Brown, Aaliyah Smith, Seddrick Smith, Kalvin Smith, Kymani Merriweather, Molly Cross, Abbey Cross, and Avery Cross; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaliyah Oglesby and Kristopher Brown Jr.

James was born and raised in Pensacola. At the age of 13, James began playing music. Music was his passion and he went on to become a professional musician for 60 years. James retired from Bellsouth AT&T after 35 years. He was a past Worshipful Master of The Brentwood Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. James also was a proud member of the Directors Staff Band at the Shriners Hadji Temple. James was a dignified member of the Warrington Elks Lodge 2108. James was a devoted outdoorsman and his hobbies included hunting and fishing, but mostly spending time with cherished grandchildren, family, and friends. James never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.

Pallbearers will be Adrian Cross, Anthony Cross, Ashley Cross, Alan Patti, Chad Wentworth, Jacobi Wentworth, Antonio Oglesby and Kristopher Brown.

Honorary pallbearer will be Alec Bailey.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 29, 2016 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Interment was in Sardis Baptist Cemetery in Wawbeek, AL.

Margaret Lula Pike Ambrose

January 29, 2016

Margaret Lula Pike Ambrose, 83, of Pensacola, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016. She was born in Clemson, SC.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Velma Pike of Clemson, SC; sisters, Betty Sue Pike and Helen Drew of Clemson, SC and Mary Toensing of Minneaspolis, MN.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Eugene Joseph Ambrose; twin sons, Keith L. Ambrose (Bernadette) and Karl J. Ambrose (Marla); daughters, Laura Cook (Greg) and Kara Britt (David); eight grandsons, Aaron, Jeremy, Joshua, Ryan, Carl, Kyle, Charles and Joseph; granddaughters, Danielle, Courtney and Caroline; great-grandsons, Austin, Griffin, Collins, Braden and Brock; great-granddaughters, MacKenzie, Leighton, Reese and Anniston; and sister, Evelyn Pike of NY.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be Gregory Cook, Jeff Fischer, James Fischer, Diana Fischer, John Toler, Jamie Kintz, David Britt, David Denadel and Raymond Goodwin.

Margaret was a loving military wife and mother who was an active auxillary member to several military associations to this day. She assisted military chaplains, the last being at Ellyson Station here in Pensacola. She was a loving mother to her four children and 11 grandchildren. She was always helping in their various athletic programs, swimming, baseball and football. She loved gardening, especially her flowers. Her dog, German shepherd, Sparky, was special to her like all her pets.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or Covenant Hospice in Margaret’s memory.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.

Interment was at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Charles Randell Brantley

Mr. Charles Randell Brantley, age 56 of Flomaton, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

Mr. Brantley was born in Century, but spent his lifetime in the Flomaton community. During his working years he worked for Marchand Oil Company as a roustabout.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Earnestine Brantley of Wedowee, AL; sisters, Jackie (Bobby) Aron of Wedowee, AL and Debbie (Ronald) Ardoin of Washington, LA; special little buddy, Brenden Odom and longtime friend, Nikki Watson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 5-8 p.m.

Jimmy Cagle

Chief Jimmy Cagle, 79, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Chief Cagle served as a boiler tender and firefighter in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. He was chief of Berrydale Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.

Chief Cagle was a community staple and a proud public servant. His selfless presence and kind heart will be forever missed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Cagle.

Chief Cagle is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Debbie Cagle. He was the loving father of Conda (Randy) Sasser and Jim Cagle. He was PaPa to his grandchildren: Kassie (Matt) DiMase; Lt. Josh (Katie) Sasser; Chelsea (Staff Sgt. Cody) Belcher; and Kaitlyn, Brianna, and Cody Pugh; and his great-grandchildren: Reece, Kolby, Kennedy, Landon, Mattingly, and Macelynn. He is also survived by: brothers, Buddy (Doris) Cagle and Gerald (Shirley) Cagle; sister-in-law, Barbara Cagle; and his devoted fire department family whom he also loved so much.

Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Berrydale Fire Station.

Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS, Pensacola with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berrydale Volunteer Fire Department in his honor.

Alfred Marshall Crook

January 26, 2016

Dr. Alfred Marshall Crook, 65, passed away peacefully at his Fairhope residence on January 25, 2016.

He was born and raised in Atmore by his parents, Dr. Samuel F. and Elise S. Crook. His son-in-law, Shane Hulsey, preceded him in death.

His best friend, Karen, who was his loving and devoted wife for forty-four years, survives him. He was blessed with two sweet, compassionate, daughters, Alison Lollar (Browan) of Birmingham and Elizabeth Dickinson (Bill) of Atlanta, Ga. He had one beautiful granddaughter, Claire Elise Dickinson.

In his earlier years, he became an Eagle Scout, graduated from Escambia County High School, the University of Alabama and UAB School of Dentistry. After dental school, he studied and achieved his Fellowship and Mastership degrees in the field of dentistry.

He was fondly known as Dr. Fred in Atmore where he practiced dentistry for 26 years. He truly cared for his patients and their needs.

A memorial service will be held at the Fairhope United Methodist Church, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Jude’s for Children, the American Stroke Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Cahaba River Society.

Janice Carolyn Noah

Janice Carolyn Noah, a long-time resident of the Pensacola area, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

Carolyn was born on April 26, 1931, in Sylacauga, AL to Curtis and Leona Joiner.

She was an active member of her church, Beulah Baptist Church, and frequently gave to world missions. She retired from Sears and Roebuck with over 30 years of service as a customer service manager.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her oldest son, Michael Noah and great-grandson, Jackson Michael Noah. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Leona Joiner, and her baby sister, Betty Janelle.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Lynn Pomas; sons, Mark (Joy) Noah and Tony (Cheryl) Noah; daughter-in-law, Barbara Noah; eight grandchildren, Scott (Janette) Noah, Jason (Brittany) Klawitter, Travis Noah, Robin (Allie) Noah, Nicole (Griffin) Bird, Aaron Noah, Kristi Noah and Luke Noah; and one great-grandchild, Troy Klawitter. She also leaves behind her sister, Verona (Larry) DeLoach; sister-in-law, Dean Marlow; nieces and nephews, Lisa Deale, Steve (Jan) Marlow, Saran (Keith) Taylor, Tammy DeLoach, Amanda DeLoach; many dear friends; and her beloved Yorkshire puppies, Coco and Cubby.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 25, 2016, at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. David Shofner officiating.

Burial was in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Carolyn’s grandchildren served as pallbearers.

Carolyn was well loved by all who knew her.

Thomas Little, Jr.

January 25, 2016

Rev. Thomas Little, Jr., 78, of Jay, died January 23, 2016, at his home. Mr. Little was born December 12, 1937, in Mosquito Flats on the outskirts of Century to Thomas Little, Sr., and Susie Nelson of Century. Mr. Little graduated from Century High School in 1956.

Mr. Little accepted Christ in his home August 1, 1955, and made a public profession the same night at Cora Baptist Church in Jay. In October 1955, Thomas felt called to preach but did not surrender until August of 1969 while working at Monsanto.

In 1971 Mr. Little moved to Graceville, Fla., to begin his education to enter the ministry at Baptist Bible Institute, where he earned a diploma in theology in 1974. In the fall of 1974, he enrolled in Louisiana College in Pineville, La., where he earned a bachelor degree in theology in 1976. In 1979 he earned a master of divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

While earning his education, Mr. Little served as pastor at two Louisiana churches – the first, Lincecum Baptist Church in Georgetown, La., from 1974 to1977 and Hillsdale Baptist Church in Amite, La., from 1979 to 1980. He would complete his service as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bratt in Florida, beginning in 1980 and serving for 10 years. Rev. Little suffered a massive heart attack causing him to retire. He and his wife then settled in Jay, where they have lived for the past 26 years.

Rev. Little is survived by two sons, Gilbert (Deb) Little of Ft. Worth, Texas; Jeffrey Little of Pensacola; one daughter, Janet Little Cooper of Jay; one sister, Betty (Lamar) White of Atmore; three grandchildren, Meredith Little of Dallas, Texas; Austin Cooper and Bryant Cooper, both of Jay.

Rev. Little was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Joyce Carnley Little; and granddaughter, Reagan Reid Little.

The family would like to thank Summer Stuckey with Covenant Hospice for the compassionate care of their father for the last year of his life and Sharon Murrell for her love and care for their father since their mother’s death.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, from 5-8 pm at Jay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Cora Baptist Church with Pastor Delbert Redditt and Pastor LaDon Hall officiating.

Burial will follow at Cora Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Davis

Mrs. Mary Davis, 80, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016, in Century.

Mrs. Davis was native of Ensley and a resident of Atmore since 1970. Mrs. Davis was retired from Vanity Fair with 25 years of service. She attended the Kingdom Hall-Jehovah’s Witness in Atmore.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Lou Ella) Davis of Baton Rouge, LA; one daughter, Cora Davis of Atmore; one brother, Robert Johnson of Mississippi; three sisters, Ethel Mouton of Atmore, Aline Bradshaw of Pensacola, and Mamie Sanders of Selma; four grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Atmore.
