Mr. Berman Franklin Leonard, Jr., 56, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in Milton.
Mr. Leonard was a native and former resident of Atmore and had resided in Milton for the past year. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Carrie Leonard and his grandparents.
He is survived by his two brothers, Steve (B.B) Leonard and Mike Leonard, all of Century; one sister, Regina (Jeff) Ogden of Pace; one aunt, Lucille Sells of Atmore; two nephews, Curtis Ogden of Pace and Rocky Hadley of Perdido; and one niece, Stacey and Blake of Pace.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Ward officiating.
Burial will follow at the Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Gainy, Tyler Hobbs, Johnny Nance, David Zornes, Billy Bennett and Gary Valasquez.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Mae Richardson, 94, of Walnut Hill, will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Longmire-Jones Memorial Chapel of Turner Funeral Chapel with Rev. Willie White officiating.
Retirement of her remains will be next to her husband in Bethany Church Cemetery in Burnt Corn, AL.
Public viewing will be Friday, June 17, 2016, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Russell Francis Anderson

Russell Francis Anderson “slipped the surly bonds of earth” on June 10, 2016. He was born on June 27, 1929 in Baltimore, MD, to J. Fred and Loretta (Wind) Anderson. He was the youngest of six children. In 1948 Russ enlisted in the Navy, retiring as a Master Chief in 1974, after serving in Alaska, Japan, Virginia, Turkey, Cyprus and Hawaii. Following his naval career, Russ pursued many interests including acquiring an associate’s degree in accounting and having his own accounting business for several years. During this time he became an active runner and completed several marathons. Russ married Judith (Wells-Evans) in 1960 and together they raised Kimberly (David) Waters.
He is predeceased by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; daughter and son-in- law; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Gonzalez United Methodist Church.
Interment will be on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 10:15 am at Barrancas National Cemetery. Procession to start at Faith Chapel North at 9:30 am.
The family expresses deep appreciation to the care givers at The Waterford/Creekside and the Covenant Hospice nurses.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gonzalez United Methodist Church Debt Reduction or Covenant Alzheimer’s Services located at 5041 North 12th Avenue, Pensacola, FL, 32504.

Wiley T. Byrd, II

Wiley T. “Buddy” Byrd II, of Westville, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at his residence in Westville.
Wiley was a native of Pensacola and graduated from Ernest Ward High School, Class of 1966. He later served in the U.S. Air Force in Germany for three years but lived most of his life in Marianna. Buddy was a member of Annie Jones United Methodist Church in Walnut Hill. He loved the rodeo life, was an avid cowboy and loved animals.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley T. and Helen Rankin Byrd.
Survivors include his son, Wiley T. “Johnny” Byrd, III of Devine TX; three daughters, Deana Coursey (Jac) of Dahlonega, GA, Jennifer Carstens (Eric) of Dayton, Ohio, and Anneke Tschirhart (Jody) of Devine, TX; three sisters, Wanetta A. McGinty (Thomas) of Walnut Hill, E. La Vonne Swindle (Danny) of Pensacola, and Rhonda K. Byrd-Lee (Bud), of Westville; one brother, Steven L. Byrd (Sue), of Walnut Hill; eight grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in Walnut Hill at Annie Jones United Methodist Church with Danny Swindle officiating.
Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.
Celest Nelson Spears

On Saturday, June 4, 2016, Celest Nelson Spears went to be with the Lord.
Celest was born November 4, 1940, in Pensacola. She was the daughter of William and Missouri Nelson. She graduated from Tate High School in 1958.
Celest is survived by her husband of 34 years, Herschell; brother, Donald (Janette) Nelson; sons, Rubin Holley of Lauderhill, FL; James (Maggie) Holley of Fayetteville, NC; step-son, Brad (Christine) Spears of Milton; step-daughter, Glenna (Ronald) Shephard of Opelika, AL;and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel.
Burial was in Elizabeth Chapel Community Cemetery in Chumuckla.

Mrs. Ether Oline Kilcrease, 102, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, in Atmore.
Mrs. Kilcrease was a native of Brantley, AL and was a resident of the Valley Grove Community in Opp, AL, and had resided in Atmore for the past 10 years. She was a member of the Sweet Home Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jerry M. Kilcrease; one son, John Thomas Kilcrease; and one daughter, Lenora Bell.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Kilcrease of Perdido, AL and Jerry L. Kilcrease of Brewton, AL; one sister, Rev. Verna Lee Phillips of East Brewton; and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Opp, AL with Rev. Edward Russell officiating.
Burial will be at the Mt. Gillard Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, June 10, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Bernice Jane Ashcraft

Bernice Jane Ashcraft, 85 of Atmore, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016, at her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born in Atmore on November 21, 1930, to the late Ennie Smith.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Ashcraft; her mother, Ennie Mitchell; and siblings, Bill Lofton and Junior Mitchell.
Survivors include one son, Ricky Ashcraft and one daughter, Jill Ashcraft, both of Atmore; two grandchildren, Amanda Ashcraft and John Ashcraft; and one great-grandchild, Tykenya Ashcraft.
Services were held Monday, June 6, 2016, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Eltra Mae (Sid) Vickrey Etheridge

Eltra Mae (Sid) Vickrey Etheridge entered into the gates of Heaven on June 2, 2016. She was born in Local (Huxford), AL on February 9, 1916, to Heman and Maggie Lomax Vickrey.
A consummate mother and caretaker, Sid was an excellent cook and she received great joy in taking care of others. She retired from Rachel Patterson Elementary School after 20 years of service. She was a resident of Atmore for over 70 years before relocating to Century Nursing and Rehabilitation in 2010. Even though she was a centurion in age, she never let it show in her appearance, physical stamina, or spirit. She took immense pleasure in assisting the residents who were no longer of good physical stamina. Over the years she attended various events through the local SAIL/RSVP centers and was lauded for her volunteer work. She loved shopping, cooking and showing her friends and family how much she loved them. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed bowling, and watching the Atlanta Braves!
Sid had an unwavering faith in God and lived a spirit of compassion and unconditional love to all who were blessed to know her. She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Atmore.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Earl Etheridge Sr. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Delaurace (Tuck) MacDonald; and her three brothers, Bernard “Bunk” Vickrey, Orval Vickrey, and Buddy Vickrey; and her two sisters, Ellie Wiggins, and Murvel Helton.
She is survived by her sons, Earl L. Etheridge Jr. and his wife Becky, of Savannah, GA, Bill Etheridge and his wife, Wylonette of Mobile; her daughter, Nancy Martin and her husband Bobby, of Walnut Hill; and a special grandson, Russell Martin of Tuscaloosa, AL. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous others who she cared for in life.
The family gives everyone who cared for her their deepest gratitude, especially her youngest daughter Nancy, whom she referred to as “Her Baby,” and who held her hand as she entered heaven, and her extended family at Century Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A funeral service celebrating her life was held on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. The service was performed by the Elder Wayne Ellis, Elder Glenn Waldrop, and the eulogy was conducted by her grandson, Russell Martin.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Wilbur T. “Dick” Brown

Mr. Wilbur T. “Dick” Brown, 87, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, in Atmore.
Mr. Brown was a native of Huxford, and a lifelong resident of Atmore. Mr. Brown was in the VFW Post 7016. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Korean, and Vietnam. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Brown.
He is survived by special friend, Mike Hanks of Atmore and special caregiver, Angie Searcy of Atmore.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Hendricks and Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes.

David Lee Poston

David Lee Poston, born to Marcus and Eloise Poston, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016.
David was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and was a successful former owner of D P Technologies, Inc. Although a native of Pensacola, he was raised in El Paso and Las Vegas but the Navy and his family brought him back to his hometown. He enjoyed fishing, farming, his family and westerns. He was a devoted husband, loving father and wonderful soul.
David is survived by his loving wife, Alicia M Poston; daughter, Karie McClung; sons, Matthew (Stacy) Poston and Jacob (Sara) Poston; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Frank Yerg, Paul Schwartz, Brandon Poston, Pete Martinez, Bobby Miner and George Boudreaux.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Barrineau Park with interment to follow at adjoining cemetery.
