Birtie Mae Jordan Capers, age 91 of Chumuckla, FL, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She lived in Cantonment with her son, Tommy Capers for the last five years. She was a member of God’s House of Miracles for the past eight years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira R. Capers in 1976; her father, mother, brother, two sisters and her daughter, Diviviean Allian Capers.
She is survived by her children, Chester Capers, Clara Capers (Alton) Macks, Edna Capers (Albert) Moreno, Leaster Capers Brown, O’Deborah Capers (Roak) Madden, Tommy (Diane) Capers, Roderica Capers (Billy) Cordle, Rolanda Capers, Veronica Capers Simms, Ira Capers Jr. and Terry Capers.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Jay Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Plotner officiating.
Burial was at Ebenezer Church Cemetery.

April Renah Sutton, a lifelong resident of Pensacola, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at the age of 37. April was a stay at home mom. She loved her children and the simple things in life.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Beth Wiggins; cousin, Jason Steele; great aunt, Bertha Hobbs; and great uncle, Curtis Hobbs.
April is survived by her mother, Renah Ausborn; sister, Brandie Jastrzembski; son, Austin Sutton; daughter, Emilee Wilkerson; boyfriend, Larry Wilkerson; maternal grandfather, William Wiggins; aunts, Letha Hobbs and Nita Richardson; uncle, Mike Hill; nieces, Lana, Alyssa, Kylie and Haley; nephew, Kollin; father, Kenny Sutton; and cousins, Brad and Kevin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. prior to services.
Burial will follow services in Whitmire Cemetery.

Eleanor L. Dunn, a lifelong resident of Pensacola, went to be with the Lord and join family members in Heaven on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the age of 93. Eleanor was born on June 23, 1923, to the late Capt. Paul and Lavinina Cascone. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed singing, dancing, spending time with her sisters, Marie and Gloria and babysitting for family and friends. Her sons, Bobby and Lee, along with her grandson, Kevin, were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul, Johnnie, and Mike Cascone; and sisters, Carmella Hargrave, Theresa Wesley and Francis Rattliff.
Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Bobby (Beth) Dunn and Lee (Edna) Dunn; grandson, Kevin Joseph (Deanna) Dunn; brother, Joe Cascone; sisters, Marie Chapel and Gloria Riley; great grandchildren, Constance Lynn Dunn and Aaron and Aubrey Jett; step-grandsons, C.E. (Jennifer) Flowers, Robert (Barbara) Flowers and Danny (Elizabeth) Flowers and their children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special “Thank You” to the staff at the Specialty Center for taking such great care of Eleanor.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pensacola.
The burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.

Kevin D. Butler

Kevin D. Butler passed away suddenly on July 23, 2016. He was born August 17, 1960, in Pensacola to Herman Joseph Butler and Goldie Vale Scott. He graduated from Pine Forest High school and also attended Pensacola Junior College. In 1992 he married his soul mate, Susie Butler with whom his raised his family.
His interests included family, the beach where he spent most of his summer days, fishing, golf, drawing, baseball and gardening. He loved to vacation with his family and take cruises with Susie. He worked for Ascend Performance Materials and all previous plant affiliations for 27 years, where his co-workers became an extension of his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susie Butler; son, Tristan (Danielle) Butler and Tyler (Sierra) Butler; daughter, Courtney (Guy) Rayner; grandchildren, Brayden, Ethan, Bristol and Bane; brothers, Mark and Bill; sisters, Joanne and Cheryl; and his many fur-babies.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at 3 p.m. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Due to his love of gardening, the family requests plants in lieu of flowers to be placed in his memorial garden. A reception will immediately follow after the service at a location to be announced at the end of the service.

Carolyn Baxter Dickens

Carolyn Baxter Dickens, age 89, of Cantonment, was called home July 30, 2016. She was born February 25, 1927, in Bonifay, FL, to the late W.R. and Lollie Baxter. Carolyn was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Homemakers of America, Daughters of the Nile, and the First Church of Christ Scientist where she served as a clerk and pianist. She was a social worker by trade with the State of Florida, where she worked with children in foster care. Carolyn was also known as an avid seamstress, gardener, reader, musician and entrepreneur.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Dickens, Sr.; son, Malcolm Daniel Dickens, and her parents.
Carolyn is survived by her children, James C. (Barbara) Dickens, Jr., Diane (Paul) Stull, Tom M. (Jennifer) Dickens, Tim (Michelle) Dickens and her daughter-in-law, E’lisa Dickens; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel North in Cantonment.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Dickens, Kenneth Dickens, Joshua Dickens, Micah Dickens, Jacob Stull, and Eric Stull.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom M. Dickens and Tim Dickens.

Ruth Fraser Slay

Mrs. Ruth Fraser Slay, 89, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016, in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
Mrs. Slay was a native of Detroit, MI and a resident of Daphne since 1971.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin C. Slay, Jr.; and a sister, Alice Fraser Russell.
She is survived by her son, Charles E. Slay of Daphne; two daughters, Martha Moore Slay and Rosalyn Slay both of Daphne; one grandson, Mark C. (Karen) Moore of Daphne; and two great-grandsons, James Reilly Moore and Colston Slay Moore.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27, 2016, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Patricia (Tricia) Vaughan, 52, of Walnut Hill, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Atmore Community Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
Tricia was born in Atmore on October 21, 1963. She went to high school at Ernest Ward High School, where she met her future husband, Byron, and graduated in 1981. She and Byron were married in Walnut Hill Baptist Church on July 1, 1983. Byron and Tricia moved to Texas shortly after their marriage, but returned to Atmore after 20 years to open and run B & T’s Texas Style BBQ. Tricia was well known and loved in the community and an active member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering with the pre-school Sunday School classes and in the nursery.
Tricia is preceded in death by her father, Hubert Bryars; sister, Rita Faye Bryars; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, John Henry and Frances Vaughan.
Tricia is survived by her loving husband, Byron; daughter, Kalyn (Derek) Parker; and son, Kevin. She is also survived by her mother, Patricia Amon; three sisters, Jackie (Danny) Gregg, Becky Angeles, and Cathy Bryars; one brother, Henery (Susie) Pugh; brother-in-law, Ken (Kelly) Vaughan; sister-in-law, Micaela (Scott) Fuller; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Walnut Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ted Bridges officiating. A graveside service will follow along with a reception in the church fellowship hall.
Pallbearers will be David Gregg, Nicholas Angeles, Todd Wiggins, Marion Cooper, Ben Porter, and David Bell.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Southern Cancer Centers of Alabama and Atmore Community Hospital and the caring staff at both facilities, to the members of Walnut Hill Baptist Church, and to all family and friends who prayed for Tricia and her family during this difficult time.

Eva Mae Locke Fuqua

Mrs. Eva Mae Locke Fuqua, 85, of Jay, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native of Westfield, FL and a former resident of McLellan, FL before moving to Jay. Mrs. Fuqua was a member of the McLellan Holiness Church. She was a retired pine tree nursery grader and a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Marshall (Fay) Fuqua of Baker, Earl (Phyllis) Fuqua of Brewton, Michael Wayne (Bobbie) Fuqua of Brewton; one sister, Annie Ruth Walthrip of Washington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; special caregivers and family, Mike and Nancy Cottrell of Jay.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mallory Lee Fuqua; and parents, Walker and Helen Spears Fuqua.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 22, 2016, at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Johnson and Rev. Allen Qualls officiating.
Interment was in Fuqua-Haveard Cemetery in Brewton.

Wrecil Shehan

Mr. Wrecil “Bud” Shehan, 89, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016, in Atmore.
Mr. Shehan was a native of Lower Peach Tree, AL and a resident of Atmore for the past 75 years. He was a retired Police Captain with the Atmore Police Department with over 21 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War, served two tours and received the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Posse. He helped various farmers and spent his life serving the public and helping people.
He is preceded in death by his son, Rusty Shehan; and daughter, Judy McDonald.
He is survived by one son, Marvin Shehan; one daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Douglas) Rolin of Atmore; one sister, Quida Pearl Jacobson of Silver Hill, AL; one granddaughter, Lynn Petty McGhee of Mobile; one grandson, Troy Shehan; one great-grandson, T.J. McGhee; and five step-grandsons, Justin Rolin of Atmore, Dylan Rolin of Ocean Springs, MS, Hunter Rolin of Frisco City, AL, Sean Rolin of Atmore and Cody Rolin of Atmore.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 20, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Rushing officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Brunson, Mike Bowen, Glenn Carlee, Rodney Johnson, James Delbert Clemmons and Delmar Weaver.

Huey Clifton King, 69, of Bradley Road Roberts Community in Brewton, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, in a Pensacola medical facility after a brief illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County. He was of the Baptist faith and a U.S. Army veteran having served during Vietnam. He was a retired mail carrier from the U.S. Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Loretta Dubose King of Brewton; daughter, Lisa Pritchett of East Brewton; step-children, Greg Wilson of Atmore and Pam Dinkins of East Brewton; three brothers, Earl King of Cantonment, Bill King of Brewton, and Ralph King of Allentown, FL; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and mother of his children, Mary Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha Fuqua King; and son, Scotty King.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2016, from 10 a.m. until noon at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at noon at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. John Lambeth officiating.
Interment will follow in Elim Cemetery in Roberts Community in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
