James Vernon Phillips

Mr. James Vernon Phillips, 75, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016, in Atmore.
Mr. Phillips was a native and lifelong resident of Walnut Hill. He was retired from Monsanto with 36 ½ years of service. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardner.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and he loved his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.E. and Virgie Phillips; and brother, Junior Phillips.
He is survived by his wife of 43 ½ years, June Phillips of Walnut Hill; two sons, James Shannon Phillips of Walnut Hill and James Scott Phillips of Pensacola; one daughter, Kenda DeAnn Parker of Pensacola; one brother, Douglas Phillips of Walnut Hill; and one grandson, William Blake Edgar of Pensacola.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Enfinger officiating.
Burial will follow at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Chavers, Anthony Lamb, Brian Robbins, Leon Chavers, Greg Forbes and Robert McCullough.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elmo Flinngim and Richard Kohen.

Anna Marie Gilbert

Anna was born in Pensacola on February 18, 1988. Anna passed away on July 7, 2016, at the age of 28 after many years of a physical battle with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Annabelle was a very pretty little girl and hid her suffering well through her pretty face and big beautiful smiling eyes.
She is preceded in death by her grandpa, Elden Dean Peterson; and papa, John Thomas (Tommy) Oglesby. Anna has moved on to a happy place in heaven to reunite with her dearly missed papa (Tommy).
She is survived and will be deeply missed by her six year old daughter, Isabelle. Anna is also survived by her parents, Ruth Patterson and John (Randy) Oglesby; brother, John R. Oglesby II; grannie great, Kathryn Thomas, grannie, Shirley Oglesby; grandmother, Pearl Johnson; granddaddy, Jimmy Johnson; grandma, Dede Peterson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Anna was a member of Harvest Christian Center in Cantonment.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Pallbearers were David Oglesby, Adam Johnson, Leslie Peterson, Richard Smolik, Jake Middleton and Tommy Hennessey.
Honorary pallbearers were Dalton Oglesby and Jared Clarke.

Mr. Robert Harold Sells, 66, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016, in Poarch, Alabama.
Mr. Sells was a native of Atmore and resident of Poarch for most of his life. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and the Poarch Community Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Roberta Sells; two brothers, Jason Sells and Dewitt Sells; and one sister, Annie Bell Ellison.
He is survived by his son, Jordan Cooper of Brewton; four brothers, Garvis (Catherine) Sells, Tony Sells, Julius (Tonya) Sells and Jerry (Sue) Sells, all of Poarch; one sister, Gloria (Gerald) Krafka of Poarch; 18 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Lee Rolin and Rev. Treavor Daughtry officiating.
Burial was at the Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

Ms. Kayellen Dobson, age 66, of Jay, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, in a Pensacola hospice facility after an extended illness. She was a native of El Paso, Texas and a long time resident of Jay. Ms. Kayellen was a member of the Flomaton Church of Christ and a retired elementary school teacher from the Jay public school system with 26 years of service. She was named Teacher of the Year for Santa Rosa County in 1996 .
She is survived by two brothers, Gary (Patsy) Dobson of Columbia, SC, Rick (Jenny) Lowery of Jay; one sister, Nancy Shivers of Jay; one sister-in-law, Drusilla Dobson; special nieces, Karla A. Shivers and Sydney L. Lowery; special nephews, Bradley Lowery, and numerous nephews and nieces; and special friends, Pat and Linda Jarvis.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Pete Davis, Speaker Pat Jarvis, Rev. Larry White, Minister Bryan Cook, and Song Leader Billy Hines officiating.

Billy Glenn Watford, 64 of Atmore, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, in Atmore. He was born in Atmore on July 25, 1951, to the late Carl William and Audrey Inez Sims Watford. He worked for Watford and Sons Inc, for many years, and was currently employed by U.S. Security Associates, Inc.
He is preceded in death by siblings, Carl Ladon Watford and Kathy Watford Gaffney.
Survivors include his daughter, Carla Shane (Mark) Ward of Dublin, GA; one brother, David Edward (Gaile) Watford of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren, Blake Ward, Cameron Ward, and Logan Ward; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services were held Tuesday, July 12, 2016, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Grindle officiating.
Interment was in the Huxford Reorganized Latter Day Saints Cemetery.

WL Bray

WL Bray, 78, of the Berrydale community, north of Milton, Florida, died Monday, July 4, 2016, following an extended battle with liver cancer.
WL was born September 20, 1937, in Pensacola, to William Berlon “Buddy” Bray and Mary Ann Silvia Bray, who later married Guy Blackburn, all deceased. After graduating Tate High in 1955, he and his cousins by marriage, Melvin and Ray McGhee, joined the Army and he and Melvin proudly served this country for 18 long, hard months in war-torn Korea, before he returned to Ft Polk, Louisiana, where he finished out his four years. Shortly after returning home he met and married the love of his life, Lois Jernigan, on April 11, 1959, in a double wedding with Pat and Ray McGhee. WL and Lois were happily married for 57 years and had six children; the first one, Donna Renee, only lived a few days. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Berlon Bray; and sisters, Liz Blackburn and Robin Norris.
In addition to his much beloved wife, Lois, he leaves behind daughter, Susan (Carth) Garrison; son, Billy Bray (Cathy Boutwell); daughter, Lisa Bray; daughter, Brenda Davis (Gary Hardy); daughter, Casey Holley-Bray; grandchildren, Katelyn Garrison, Kyle Davis, Paul “P.R.” Bray, Kendra Hardy, Jessica (Jonathon) Easterling, and Cotton Malone; great-grandchild, Jon Luke Easterling; ex-son-in-law, Jerry Davis; ex-son-in-law, Darryl Erhardt; brother, Guy Blackburn; and best friend, Fred Coleman.
WL retired after 35 years with the Florida Department of Transportation in Pensacola, where he was a Maintenance Supervisor. He was an avid and successful hunter, fisherman, and farmer. He was a founding member of the Viney Bottom Hunting Club and served for the past 15+ years as its president.
Funeral services were held at Lewis Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7, 2016, with Reverend Jimmy Pittman presiding and Wayne and Angie Blocker assisting. Music was provided by Charles and Deborah Bray and Doris Kelley.
Active pallbearers were Benny Baxley, Ken Blair, Ben Floyd, Frank Lovin, Alan Mitchem and Kevin Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers were Fred Coleman, Virgil Bedsole, Gary Don Holley, Jimmy White, and Paul Mitchem.
WL will be buried in the Berrydale Community Cemetery; however, there will be no graveside service.
The family wishes to extend their heart-felt appreciation to all the people and churches who prayed for and helped the whole family over the past 22 months, and to Dr. C. David Smith, his wonderful staff and the nurses at Jay Hospital who provided compassionate care to WL and his family.
Carl Richard Standifer

Carl Richard Standifer, age 81, went to be the Lord on Monday, July 4, 2016, in Milton, Florida.
He was born in Wise County Virginia (Big Stone Gap), on November 11, 1934. Carl was the son of Noah Richard Standifer and Minnie Standifer Lee of Wise Virginia. Carl is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Etta Pearl Oglesbee Standifer, who passed away June 11, 2016; and one beloved sister, Clara Tilley of Carryville, Florida.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved children, two daughters, Peggy (Calvin D.) Madden and Tammy (Leon D.) Peacock; and two sons, William Standifer and Bobby Standifer, all of Jay; two sisters, Rose Beck and Jo (Malcolm) Cloud; one sister-in-law, Mable (Raymond) Stophel; one brother-in-law, Buddy (Bonnie) Oglesbee; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Carl was a master mechanic for John Deere and also a truck driver where he retired.
He always had time for his children mud riding in the woods, camping, swimming, and playing in the yard. He was a loving husband and family man.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 8, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel, with Rev. Kevin Nelson and Rev. Robert Gandy officiating.
Burial was in Berrydale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Raymond Elmer Crosby

On July 7, 2016, Raymond Elmer Crosby departed this world to be reunited in heaven with his wife, family, and friends who have passed before him.
He was born February 11, 1945, and was raised in Pensacola by his beloved aunt, Iola McQuigg. He was a graduate of Pensacola High School Class of 1963 and a member of Gadsden Street Methodist Church. While working as a stocker at Delchamps, he was introduced to his bride, Janet Licklider Crosby. They were married almost 50 years before she passed last year. Mr. Crosby was a hard worker and excelled in the grocery business. This led to his job working many years for French’s company. He moved up the ranks as a successful career salesman, for various companies, working in New Orleans, Dallas and Houston. He and his family moved back to the Pensacola area in 1996 and eventually settled in Molino. Anyone who knew Raymond knows he was an avid football fan, especially for his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. He also loved cruising in his Corvette, taking family trips in his RV, and donating to the Porch Creek Indians.
He is survived by his son, Scott (Myra) Crosby; daughter, Kim Creamer; grandchildren, JuliAnna Harmon, Nikoal Creamer and Mayson Creamer; sister, Jeanene Henry; sister-in-law, Paula (Richard) Southern; brother-in-law, Douglas (Priscilla) Gates; aunt, Edith Crosby; nieces and nephews, Susan (George) Doyle, Stephen Gates, Travis (Suzie) Gates, Tonya Southern, James (Daphne) Southern, and Charles Southern; as well as countless other out of town relatives, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North in Cantonment on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. with funeral services following immediately afterwards.

Donald William Howard, 63, of Molino, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. He was the son of the late Arthur William and Vivian Howard.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corp, having served in the Vietnam era. Mr. Howard was a retired postmaster.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Dewayne) Barlow; son, Jason Howard; granddaughter, Hailey Harigel; grandson, Elijah Harigel; and sisters, Susan Black and Debroah Howard.
Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Friday, July 15, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. with the memorial service at 9 a.m.

Mr. Foster Baker Patrick, 60, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, in Atmore.
Mr. Patrick was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. Mr. Patrick was a Little League coach for years and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore. He is preceded in death by his parents, B.F. and Edythe Patrick; wife, Kathy Patrick; and one sister, Pat James Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Transou Patrick of Atmore; two sons, Anthony Patrick of Atmore and Matthew Patrick of McGargel, AL; one daughter, Amy Evans of Ocean Springs, MS; one brother, Benny Patrick of Bratt; two sisters, Frankie Donald of Atmore and Manell Cox of Foley; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Atmore First Baptist Church with Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 8, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
