Guy Drew Enfinger

Guy Drew Enfinger, 64, United States Army retired, formerly of Molino, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, in Wall, New Jersey. Guy was a 1969 graduate of J.M. Tate High School, and lived in Molino until he joined the Army at the age of 17 during the Vietnam War. He was a crew chief on “Dust Off” medical evacuation helicopters and received
The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm among other medals for service. After Vietnam, he served in several “Hawk” missile units in Key West, Florida, West Germany, Korea, White Sands, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas where he was an instructor. Later he became a recruiter in Boston, Massachusetts, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey where he retired.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Alice Enfinger.
He is survived by his wife Gloria; two sons, Jeremy (Laura) Enfinger and Ryan Metcalfe; grandchildren Izzy and Bryan Enfinger; two brothers, Adrian (Jan) Enfinger and Paul Enfinger; one sister Vicki (Stan) Tipton, and numerous other family members and friends.
Services for Guy were held Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in the chapel at the New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey.

Frances Adele Flowers Huff

Frances Adele Flowers Huff was born December 12, 1927, in Gordo, Alabama, to James Hobson Flowers and Susie Bell MacAteer. Frances was a graduate of Sipco High School in Birmingham. She married Clyde Verneal Huff on November 30, 1946. She had three children, two of which preceded her in death, Joseph Hobson Huff (2012) and Brenda Joyce Huff (1998).
She is survived by youngest son, Larry Waldo Huff and two daughters-in-law, Susan Roberts Huff (Larry) and Charlotte Huff (Joe); brother-in-law Fred Huff of Thomasville, AL and a sister-in-law, Margaret Flowers of Blountsville, AL; her grandchildren, Tammy Hester (Gordon), Wendy Huff, Vivian Ruth Huff, Amanda Hindsman (Craig); one grandson, Christopher Lee Huff and numerous great-grandchildren.
Frances was a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker and cook. She worked as a church secretary for Plainview Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir for many years. Frances was also a bookkeeper for Spradley Big Ten Tires and Wards Building Supply. The Christian testimony of Mom was written by her life. Mom saw a lot of trials and tribulations but never wavered in her faith. She believed in prayer, practiced it a lot when she prayed for family and friends. She was married to the love of her life, Clyde for 67 years. Mom leaves a legacy of love by serving others whenever she found someone in need. On September 3, 2016, Mom went to sleep in her bed and awoke in heaven in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her gentle spirit and loving nature will be missed by all those who truly knew her. Mom’s favorite scripture was the 23 rd Psalm.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Plainview Baptist or First Baptist Church Cantonment.
Dorothy Marie Gindl Lambert Casey

Dorothy Marie Gindl Lambert Casey was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse and community spitfire. Dorothy passed away on September 4, 2016, at the age of 95 in Cantonment.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Lambert in 1970 and was blessed to find love again with her second husband, Charles Casey, who passed away in 2012.
She is survived by her son, Skip Lambert (June); daughter, Brenda Sowinski (Jim); grandsons, Chad Lambert (Janet) and Kevin Lambert (Susan); granddaughters, Bridget Davidson (Bob) and Julie Jenkins (Brandon); grandson, Brian Sowinski (Amy), and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Frances Gindl; and her sisters, Mildred Anderson and Mary Pembroke.
Dorothy was born on June 12, 1921, in Barrineau Park. She lived in the Barrineau Park area almost all of her life. Dorothy was a Registered Nurse who worked for private physicians before taking a position at the St. Regis Paper Company. She retired in 1986 from the Champion Paper Company after 35 years of employment.
She has been a driving force for improvement and development of the area. Dorothy never said I won’t or I can’t. She is a founding member of Barrineau Park Historical Society, served as secretary of International Paper Company retirees. She has managed and maintained the Barrineau Park Colony Cemetery. Because of her nursing profession, she has been the community nurse. She did not ask for the job, it just seemed the right thing to do. She never turned anyone away who needed help. She made herself available morning, noon, and night. Most of us will always remember driving by in our cars to see her picking up trash along the highway and encouraging others to take pride in their community. If you truly want to honor Dorothy’s memory, keep your community beautiful by picking up trash along the highway.

Mrs. Dorothy Bowman Gunter, age 85 of McDavid, FL passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Century Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in McDavid, FL and remained a lifetime member of the Century community where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Century. During her working years, she worked as a receptionist for Gulf Coast Vision. Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Edwin Gunter, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Ava (Alan) Cole of Dothan, AL; her sons, Jimmie Edwin (Vicky) Gunter, Jr. of McDavid, FL and Lee (Susan) Gunter of Pensacola, FL; sister, Marcella (Herman) Holt of Zwolle, LA; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM.
Interment will follow in Ray’s Chapel, Bogia, FL.

Ora Mae Bryars White, 81 of Perdido, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, in Mobile. She was retired from Vanity Fair Mills. She was born in Perdido, AL on November 2, 1934, to the late Orie W. and Lilly Modelle Long Bryars. She was a member of the Perdido Church of God, and also a member of the Ladies Auxilary of The Purple Heart.
She is preceded in death by herhHusband, Everette C. White; brothers, O.W. Bryars, Gene Autrey Bryars and Wiley Bryars.
Survivors include one son, Steve (Rita) White of Perdido; two daughters, Katherine Williamson of Semmes, AL, and Judy (Eddy) Osborn of Perdido; two brothers, Glenn Bryars and Benjamin (Dee) Bryars; five sisters, Shelby (Joel) Brown, Peggy (Robert) White, Glenda (Larry) Gilliam, Shelia (Robert) Michaels and Deborah (Randolph) Conway; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, September 5, 2016, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Scott Brooks officiating.
Interment was in Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Mr. Ervin Edward Simmons, Jr., 59, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016, in Pensacola.
Mr. Simmons was a native of Pensacola and a resident of Century for most of his life. He was an employee of Intercontinental Terminal (ITC) with 30 years of service and the Higmon Barge Line. He is preceded in death by his father, Ervin Edward Simmons, Sr.; mother, Mary Smith Simmons; one brother, Robert Lee Simmons; one sister, Ervina Simmons; and great-uncle, Hillary Kane Simmons.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy Simmons of Century; one son, James Wesley (Jennifer) Simmons of Jay; two daughters, Mary Jessica Simmons of Century and Valerie Horn of Pasadena, TX; two brothers, Donald Wayne Simmons and Michael Whitworth, both of Pasadena, TX; one sister, Connie (Larry Gilbert) Whitworth of Pasadena, TX; three grandchildren, Summer Simmons, Zackary Simmons and Mikayla Simmons; one great-grandchild, Drake Baker; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 5, 2016, at the Cornerstone Christian Church with Rev. Fredric Barrow officiating.
Burial was at the Flomaton Cemetery.

Mr. Winston “Buddy” Leatherwood, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016, in Lottie, Alabama.
Mr. Leatherwood was a native of Huxford and a resident of Atmore since 1969. Mr. Leatherwood retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation with 33 years of service. He was a devoted father and grandfather and he was a member of the Lottie Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Alicia Leatherwood; parents; and four brothers.
He is survived by one son, Mitchell Clark Leatherwood of Lottie; one daughter, Anissa Kay Leatherwood (Bobby) Ledkins of Lottie; one sister, Betty Joyce Lee of Frisco City; and two grandsons, Harrison Myles Ledkins and Brent Alexander Ledkins.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 4, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Pruitt and Rev. Henry Wilson officiating.
Burial was at Serenity Garden Cemetery.

Marjorie B. Lalak, 93 of Atmore, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, in Atmore. She was a homemaker. She was born in Daphne, AL, on April 3, 1923, to the late Daisy and Adele Evers Brantley. She was a member of St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church for 68 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Lalak, Sr; one sister, Katherine Rodgers; three brothers, Leon Brantley, Tolbert Brantley and Howard Brantley.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph S. (Betty) Lalak, Jr. of McCullough, Michael (Angie) Lalak of McCaysville, GA and Steven (Keena) Lalak of Vicksburg, MS; three daughters,
Cecilia (Jim) Lee of Atmore, Maria (Larry) Sims of Pensacola and Cathy Smith of Mobile; one sister, Ruth Lowell of Monroeville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 10 a.m. from the St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father Arulppan Jayaraj and Father Gordon Milstid officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Arentha H. McGhee, 95 of Atmore, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, at her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born in Elsnor, AL, on May 30, 1921, to the late George W. and Clara Boyington Hinote. She was a Charter Member of Poarch Community Church, and was of the Mennonite faith.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, Willis M. McGhee, Sr; brothers, Ervin Mitchell, Clarence Mitchell and Floyd Hinote; sisters, Viola Greek, Carrie Reandeau, Elsie Malone and Nell Mitchell; two step-children, Lavan Martin and Ima Jean Sheets.
Survivors include four sons, Willis M. (Tracy) McGhee, Jr., Terry Michael (Yvonne) McGhee, Danny W. McGhee, all of Poarch and George D. (Sharon) McGhee of Atmore; one step-son, Douglas Martin of Zion, Ill; two daughters, Mary Jane (Eddie) Tullis of Poarch; Nancy M. (Eddie) Lowrey of Atmore; one step-daughter, Jeanette (Kell) Beck of McCullough; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, September 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. from the Poarch Community Church with Bro. David Z. Weaver, Jr. and Bro. Martin Gehman officiating.
Interment was in Judson Indian Cemetery.

Dollie Nix Maples

Dollie Nix (Bit) Maples passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 31, 2016, after a courageous battle with ALS. Dollie dearly loved her family, sister, cousins and extended family and especially her one and only grandson. She worked 45 years as a quality control inspector at Crane Electronics in Ft. Walton Beach, FL from where she recently retired.
She is survived by her children, Tina A. (Michelle) Maples, Felix W. (Tina) Maples; and grandson Corey (Jessica) Maples. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Gaffney; her children, Karen Gomez, Kim Burt, Jennifer Gaffney and Perry Gaffney; dearest cousins, Robert and Carolyn Flowers; and many, many beloved cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Arnold and Rachel Nix; four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Dr. Jim Merritt officiating.
Interment was in Beulah Cemetery.
