Dillon Gregory Touart, Jr.

Greg passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rose; daughter, Cathy Haight (Benny); daughter of the heart, Martha Gorman (John); granddaughters, Annie Townsend (Tommy) and Anna Gorman; grandsons, Monty Haight and Jack Gorman; and adored great-grandchildren, Baylen Matthew, Allie Grace, and Thomas Andrew; brother, Robert Touart (Arlene); sister, Glenda Barker; brother in-law, Walter Cliatt; and niece, Deborah Cliatt, along with many friends and other family.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Dillon Gregory Touart Sr., Winston and Effie Crosby; grandparents, Joe and Mamie Elsperman; and sisters, Catherine Cliatt, and Judy Crosby.

Greg was raised by his grandparents Joe and Mamie Elsperman in downtown Pensacola. He attended schools in Pensacola and joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served aboard the USS Wisconsin. He met the love his life and they were married June 2, 1956. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 2, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Greg was employed and retired from Monsanto after 37 years of service. He and Rose toured this great country in their motor home from coast to coast after they retired from their in-home day care. Greg was an avid fisherman and loved throwing his cast net from the bridges, catching plenty of mullet. His best fishing buddy was Ernie Millette. Greg and Rose served as youth advisors at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and Greg was also a licensed lay reader. Greg volunteered for many years at West Florida Hospital as a greeter, with many great friends. He was a member of Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, where he found great peace.

The family would like to thank all the many physicians at West Florida Hospital and Medical Center Clinic who attended his medical needs over the years, especially Dr. Phillips, Dr. Suelflow, Dr. Lurate, Dr. Gupp, Dr. Mehmood, Dr. Powell and Dr. Rush. We would also like to thank the VA and especially Dr. Fountain, Scott (Counselor for the Blind) and the VA Rehabilitation Center for the Blind in Biloxi, Mississippi for their continued dedication. What would he have done without you all?

Memorial visitation was held at Faith Chapel North on Saturday, December 31, 2016.

Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date with Father George Sammut officiating.

David Crockett Jones, III

Mr. David Crockett Jones, III, age 61 passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016, in a Pensacola healthcare facility.

Mr. Jones was born in Century and spent his lifetime there. During his working years, he worked as a safety inspector in the oil industry and was employed with Charco in Flomaton, AL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David C. Jones, Jr. and Lova Burg Jones; and his sister, Pattie Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of Flomaton United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Pamela (Sandy) Hindman of Monroeville, AL; nephew, Nicholas Hindman of Greenville, AL; nieces, Megan (Chris) Ross of Opelika, AL and Courtney Hindman of Opelika, AL; cousins, Buddy (Linda) Steele of Stockton, AL, David (Tina) Steele of Stockton, AL, Madison (Donna) Steele of Stockton, AL, Amanda (Shane) Hall of Stockton, AL, Thomas, Logan and Abigail Steele of Stockton, AL; numerous other cousins, family and friends.

A memorial service is scheduled for Mr. Jones on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Flomaton United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathleen McKinley officiating.

Steven E. Moore

December 31, 2016

Steven E. Moore, 63, of Cantonment, FL, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.

He leaves behind , Debbie Lynn Moore, his wife of 38 years. He is survived by his step-father, Coleman Goodson; mother-in-law, Mary Broxson; his children, Leana (Christopher) Taylor, Justin (Katie) Moore, Amanda Moore (Fiancé Nick Driver); siblings, Susan Phillips of Tallahassee, FL, Keith (Rachel) Moore of Crawfordville, FL and Joni (Woody) Hildebrandt of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Cindy Davis; and niece, Jamie Eisenhut. Steve is also survived by his grandchildren, Jaxson, Jacob, Greyson, and Amelia Kate Moore, Brooklynn Bowen and Libby Taylor; and special nephew, Taylor Hildebrandt along with numerous nieces and nephew.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Wayne Moore; mother, Billie Jo Goodson; father-in-law, Morris Broxson; brother, Gary Wayne Moore; and beloved nephew, Bailey Hildebrandt.

Steven was raised in Quincy, Florida. He married his one and only sweetheart on April 22, 1978. He began a skilled trade of welding and traveled the United States working at different nuclear power plants and shipyards before settling in Pensacola, FL in 1986 with his beloved wife. He worked as a chemical operator and firefighter for Solutia and more recently began instructing welding at Pensacola State College where he enjoyed sharing his welding knowledge and skills with his eager students.

He was a long-time member of Olive Baptist Church where he volunteered at the Welcome Center. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with Debbie and his family, maintaining a pristine lawn, and playing golf as often as he could. Those who knew him well, knew that Steve was extraordinarily faithful and generous; loving God and caring deeply for the love of his life and his family. He was a grateful man who enjoyed his life; he never met a stranger, frequently teased those he loved, and always had a smile for everyone. He would want everyone to remember the smile he placed on your face and the laughter in your heart.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Olive Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services will follow immediately at 1 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Monty Daniel Bell, 58 of Atmore, AL, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 in Pensacola, FL. He was an owner of Monty Windshield Repair and Locksmith. He also worked offshore as a crane operator. He was born in Flomaton, AL, to Fern and Eleanor Daniel Bell, Jr.

He is preceded in death by his father, Fern Bell, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Tabitha Kovash Bell of Atmore, AL; his mother, Eleanor Bell of Robertsdale, AL; four sons, Joshawa (Sara) Bell of SC, Justin Bell, Nathan Bell and Remington Bell, all of Atmore, AL; brother, Jeff (Tammy) Bell of Enterprise, AL; twin brother, Mark Bell of Atmore, AL; one sister, Sharron (Don) Bullard of Atmore, AL; two grandchildren, Charlie Bell and Rhett Bell; nieces and nephews, Corey Loop, Katie Beth Bell, and Jeff Edward Bell, Jr.; and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Don Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Alton Arthur Morris

December 30, 2016

Alton Arthur Morris (Cowboy) passed away December 26, 2016. Alton was born to Johnnie and Mary Elma Morris in Jay Florida on September 16, 1943.

Cowboy is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Mary Elma Morris; one son, Alton Arthur Morris Jr.; one grandson, Steven Lee Morris; and one brother, Preston Wayne Morris.

He is survived by three daughters, Angie Dybowski (Tim), Tammy Gresham (Randy) And Sarah Ogle (Bryan); one sister, Vivian Joiner; two brothers, Ronnie Morris and Mason Morris (Debra); five granddaughters; four grandsons; and 10 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cowboy retired from Scott Paper Company after 22 years of service. He worked for Cambells Sand & Gravel up until fully retiring. Cowboy loved camping, fishing and hunting and spending time with his many family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Jay Funeral Home. Grave side services will be held at Sardis Baptist Church off of Sardis Church Road.

Pallbearers will be Cowboy’s nephews and cousins, Lee Roy Peacock, Sammy Lowry, Curt Lowry, Frank Lowry, Mickey Diamond, Rusty Peacock, Ray Morris, Jeremy Morris and Shannon Joiner pulling boat.

Mazie Ann Lambert

Mazie Ann Lambert, 68 of Perdido, AL, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016, in Bay Minette, AL. She was a homemaker. She was born in Bay Minette, AL on July 5, 1948, to the late James and Wilma Lambert.

Survivors include special friends, Judy (Robbie) Colbert of Perdido, AL and the church family at Perdido Baptist Church.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the Bryars-McGill Cemetery in Perdido, AL.

Active pallbearers will be men of the church.

Ruth Arlene Mininger, 77 of Moundridge, KS, formerly of Walnut Hill, FL, passed away Saturday December 24, 2016, in Moundridge, KS. She was a homemaker, born in Goessel, KS, on November 11, 1939, to the late George and Leah Boeckner Dyck.

She was a member of the Walnut Hill Mennonite Church.

Survivors are her husband, Robert “Bob” Mininger of Moundridge, KS ; three sons, Gary (Roberta) Mininger. and Kevin (Debbie) Mininger all of Walnut Hill, FL,  Arlene (Teresa) Mininger of Albertville, AL; one daughter, Starla (Randy) Yost of Moundridge, KS; one brother, Edwin (Loretta) Dyck of Bonners Ferry, ID; one sister, Maxine (Elwood) Koehn of Moundridge, KS;  18 grandchildren and 13  great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday December 29, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. from Southern Harbor Mennonite Church, with Bro. Verle Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday evening December 28, 2016, from Southern Harbor Mennonite Church at Davisville, FL. from 6-8 p.m.

Ms. Jessica Michelle Norwood, age 29 of Auburn, AL passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016.

Ms. Norwood was born in Pensacola, FL. She graduated from Flomaton High School in 2005 and attended Auburn University where she earned an Accounting Degree in 2010. While attending Auburn University, she was a member of the ASSN Alumni. Ms. Norwood was the owner and operator of her business, Hot Damn Jelly Company. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Charles H. Sansom and her paternal grandparents, Silas N. and Maybelle Norwood.

Ms. Norwood is survived by her parents, Ronny and Beth Norwood of Flomaton, AL; maternal grandmother, Ruth Elizabeth Sansom of Pensacola, FL; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Stanton of Nevada; brothers, John Christian Norwood of Pensacola, FL and Joey Nevon Norwood of Hartselle, AL; sister, Elizabeth Rae Norwood of Flomaton, AL; special fur babies, Alffi and Pepper.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 11 AM with Pastor Kathy Chavers and Maggie Silbernagel speaking.

Mr. Alton “Hawkeye” Godwin, Jr., 61, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016, in Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Godwin was a native of Pensacola, FL and had resided in Poarch, AL for the past 16 years. Hawkeye loved family and friends and was of the Holiness Faith. He is preceded in death by his father, Alton Edward Godwin, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Irene Godwin of Atmore, AL; wife, Bell Godwin of Poarch, AL; two sons, Joseph (Kathy) McGugin of Grand Bay, AL and Chad (Latasha) Godwin of Poarch, AL; one daughter, Chastity (Bunk) Peebles of Poarch, AL; one brother, Thomas Phillip (Cynthia) Godwin of Mobile, AL; four sisters, Glenda (Byron) Arrington of Milton, FL, Elizabeth Monachello of Atmore, AL; Katherine (Larry) McDuffie of Atmore, AL and Jackie (Joe) Andrews of Crestview, FL; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Ward and Bro. Walter Rolin officiating.

Mr. Harvey Eugene Foster, 69, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016, in Fairhope, Alabama.

Mr. Foster was a native and lifelong resident of Walnut Hill, FL. He was retired from Masland Carpet with 38 years of service. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, outdoorsman and he was a member of the Dry Springs Community Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Minnie Lee Foster and nephew, Rusty Foster.

He is survived by the mother of his son, Julia Foster of McCullough, AL; one son, Ricky (Shelley) Foster of Walnut Hill, FL; two brothers, Roy (Billie) Foster of Walnut Hill, FL and Jerry (Betty Ann) Hastings of Walnut Hill, FL; one sister, Louise Vance of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Leslee Foster and Kaylee Foster; two great-grandchildren, Clover Greenly Erin Shook and Brayden Mumaw; and a niece, Tracy “Coon Dog” Garrett.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 26, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Ray McCullough officiating.

Burial was at the Dry Springs Cemetery.
