Debra Jean Howell

March 2, 2017

Debra Jean Howell, 59, passed away February 25, 2017, to be reunited with the Lord. She was born in Marianna, FL, July 18, 1957, and has lived her entire life in Pensacola, since she was one week old. Debbie was adventurous. She loved to travel and being outdoors, especially on the water. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Debbie was a member of the Krewe Da Ya Ya’s, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was strong, loving, loyal and an inspiration to all.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Howell.

Debbie is survived by her mother, Shirley Howell; her sister, Patricia (Gary) Gunter; her partner, Rick Higdon; stepson, Quint (Lindsey) Higdon; two grandchildren, Chaz and Mason Higdon; her nephews, Brett (Tamera) Gunter and Wesley Gunter; her great niece, Addilyn Gunter; and her great nephew, Blake Gunter.

A special thank you to Debbie’s Aunt Nean, all of her close friends and Jessica of Hospice, who have all been there for her.

Kenneth Franklin Milstead

On February 26, 2017, Kenny Milstead passed away after a lengthy illness. Kenny was born on March 15, 1970, in Pensacola, FL. He is the son of Vincent and Karen Milstead. He graduated from Pace High School and the University of West Florida with a BA degree. Kenny worked as a master esthetician for many high end spas in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and New York City. After living in the big cities, he wanted to move back home to be with his family, friends and the beach that he loved. He always had a ready smile for everyone he met. He loved music, played the guitar and had a beautiful voice.

Kenny leaves behind to cherish his memory his father, Vincent Milstead; his mother, Karen Belanger Milstead; his stepmother, Cindy Conley Milstead; sisters, Tara Milstead and Darcy Ballie (Joe); brother, Michael (Haleigh Nichols) Milstead; aunts and uncles, Judy Doherty, Kenny (Joan) Belanger, Jan (Bob) Pollock, Debbie (Eric) Springer and Dale (Becky) Conley; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and his many friends. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Nicholas.

Kenny was a member of Christian Life Church in Milton, FL.

Richard William Freisinger

February 26, 2017

Richard William Freisinger of Molino, died Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 18, 1930, to Peter and Anna Gindl Freisinger and moved with his parents to Escambia County when he was seven years old.
Mr. Freisinger was of the Baptist faith and a faithful worshiper at Highland Baptist Church in Molino. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He began his career at Chemstrand (Monsanto) in the chemical laboratory. He was active in civic activities and natural resource endeavors with membership in related organizations.

He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna Gindl Freisinger.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Bowman Freisinger; son, Marvin Lee and Sharon Lucas; daughter, Carol Ann and Harry Swinford; granddaughters, Heather Shenea and Joshua Bedwell, and Margaret Huston Swinford; grandsons, William Ashton Lucas and Amber Williams, Marvin Dowling Lucas and Chelsea Prathe; great-grandchildren, Mollie Lenea Bedwell, Madalyn Lei Bedwell, Anson Lane Bedwell, Aidan Loche Bedwell, Skye Grace Marie Tanton, and Kora Leigh Lucas; brother, Charles D. and Ollie Mae Freisinger; brother-in-law, Julian Duane and Shirley Bowman; sisters-in-law, Doris Coon, Faye and Jimmy Silvia, and many nieces and nephews.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, the family will receive family and friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 7 p.m.

There will be a private family burial at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery in Bogia.

The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to Richard’s caregivers, Lynn Campbell, Debra B. Gould, and Donna Frazier. We thank the workers with Covenant Care who were so gentle and caring.

Harold McElhaney

Mr. Harold McElhaney, 75, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017, in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. McElhaney was a native and former resident of Bratt, FL and had resided in Atmore, AL most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Wayside Grocery for 27 years, an expert fisherman and avid Alabama fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey McElhaney and Vira Hadley.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Couch of Atmore, AL: four step-sons, Aubrey (Natasha) Rolin of Atmore, AL, Johnny Steadham of Atmore, AL, Bryan (Lynda) Couch of Atmore, AL and Danny (Tammy) Couch of Ashboro, NC; two brothers, Darrell (Sherry) McElhaney of McLean, VA and William (Christina) Hadley of Atmore, AL; 12 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; two nephews and one great niece.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Lee Rolin and Bro. Darrell McElhaney officiating.

Burial will follow at the Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tinker Rolin, Johnny Steadham, Bryan Couch, Danny Couch, Brent Dorough and Dalphin Gohagan.

Mrecedith Ann McCracken

Mercedith Ann McCracken, a longtime resident of Pensacola, FL passed away at home, Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Ann was born in Herrin, IL in 1932 and married Bill McCracken of Cisne, IL in 1950. She enjoyed her family, American History, and was an avid reader. They retired to Sarasota, FL from central Illinois in 1985, and moved to Pensacola, FL in 1999. Ann was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, sang in the senior choir, and supported the church’s missionary outreach activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bill McCracken and grandson, Joel Bryan.

She is survived by two daughters, April Bryan of Sarasota, FL and Dena (Dale) Faessel of Pensacola, FL; son, Dan McCracken (Tammy) of Ashburn, VA; six grandchildren, Kelly Bowen, Mickey Bryan (Sarah), Katie Bryan, Sara Faessel, Dylan and Liam McCracken; four great-grandchildren, Elijah Bowen, Zoey Grantham, Hannah and Caleb Bryan.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Pat Mobley officiating.

A private interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Many will remember her smile and helpful nature. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice or to Hillcrest Baptist Missions Program.

Mrs. Christina “Chrissy” Ordis, 34, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, in Milton, Florida.

Mrs. Ordis was a native of Pensacola, FL; former resident of Century, FL; and had resided in Milton, FL for the past three years. She was wonderful mother and of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Wiley and Margaret Ordis; Ethel Robbins; aunt, Katherine Barrow; and uncle, John Flowers.

She is survived by her father, Ronnie (Lynn) Ordis of Camp Hill, AL; mother, Celeste (Bo) Morris of Milton, FL; three sons, Dylan Ordis of Camp Hill, AL, Caden Ordis of Camp Hill, AL and Dennis Blake Mathis of Milton, FL; one daughter, Jasmine Ordis of Camp Hill, AL and one brother, Ronnie Eugene (Hannah Davidson) Ordis, Jr. of Milton, FL.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial was in the Pine Barren Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Luke Brown, Zac Sims, Thomas Ordis, Christopher Ordis, Samuel Ordis and Jared Ordis.

James “Jim” David LaJoie, 73, of Pensacola, FL passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George A. and Erna Lajoie and his brother, Gary LaJoie.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia J. LaJoie; sons, Dennis Lajoie and Kelby (Janelle) LaJoie; stepdaughter, Melissa (Aaron) Dorn; stepson, Patrick (Dayna) Roush; grandchildren, Hannah LaJoie, Abigal Dorn, MaKenna Dorn, Isaac Dorn, Kaylee Roush and Emerie Roush and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Angelia Hanks Nelson, 47, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Jay, Florida.

Mrs. Nelson was a native of Century, FL and has resided in Jay most of her life. She was a die hard Auburn, Pittsburgh Steelers, Notre Dame and NASCAR fan. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended the Ebenezer Assembly of God Church. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas C. Hanks.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Hanks of Jay, FL; husband, Devon Nelson of Jay, FL; one son, Paul T. Black of Milton, FL; two daughters, Candace Black (Tarrance Wright) of Century, FL and Courtney Black of Jay, FL; one brother, Matt (Sam) Hanks of Flomaton, AL; five grandchildren, Taryanna Wright, Tarrance Wright, Jr., Tylen Wright, Aiden Black and Thomas Devon Black; two brothers-in-law, Keith (Dana) Nelson of Elberta, AL and Wendell (Pamela) Nelson of Addison, TX; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buddy and Marjorie Nelson of Century, FL.

Dennie Medlock

Dennis Medlock, 61, of Cantonment, FL passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017.

Dennis worked for International Paper for 30 years and was a member of IBEW Local/1937. He loved to hunt, fish and play golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Margaret Medlcok; and his sister, Karen Medlock Hayes.

Dennis is survived by his two sons, Rico Padilla and Chris Medlock (Alyssa); and grandchildren, Makenzee Medlock, Bethaney Padilla, Kaleb Padilla, Arryanne Padilla and Bree Padilla.

A gathering of friends was held Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Don Cravey Morris

February 20, 2017

Don Cravey Morris, 87, peacefully went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Pensacola/Cantonment and attended Tate High School. He was a longtime active member of Pinewoods Presbyterian Church and loved his church family. He loved fishing and was always able to catch enough for family fish fries and to share with friends. He instilled his love for the Gulf Coast into all of his children. He also enjoyed having a large garden and loved sharing his vegetables with friends and family. He was a great story teller and took great joy in making others laugh. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Evelyn Fay (Eve) Morris; son, Carey Matthew (Matt) Morris; grandson, Taylor Grantham Goff; parents, Carey and Maude Oma Morris; brother, Ray Morris and; and sisters, June Sherrill and Fay Palin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Louise Morris; three sons, Donald Shea Morris (Sherry), Michael Pindel (Josette) and Scott Pindel (Terri); daughter, Donna Morris Goff; sisters, Nell Kennedy and Beth Morris Cyr (Leo); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 24, 2017, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel North with service to follow immediately at 2 p.m.

Interment to follow at Bayview Cemetery.
