John Calvin Davis, Sr.

John Calvin Davis, Sr. 91 of Davisville, FL, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at his residence. He retired after 38 years of service from St. Regis-Champion Paper Mill. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII, was a Mason for over 50 years, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church. Mr. John loved his family dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer J. and Nellie Dove Davis; two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Mrs. Jean Eloise Steadham Davis of Davisville, FL; two sons, John C. (Lynn) Davis, Jr of Atmore, AL and Benjamin E. Davis (Dottie) of Walnut Hill, FL; four grandchildren, “Little John” Calvin (Sandy) Davis, III of Atmore, AL, Anna Davis (Christopher) Barry of Cantonment, FL, Lacey Davis (Travis) Suits of Orange City, FL and Clinton E. Davis of Cantonment, FL; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jimmy Douglas (Sharon) Davis of Davisville, FL.

Services will be Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Harper officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with full Military Honors. Active pallbearers will be “Little John” Davis, Clint Davis, Travis Suits, Chris Barry, Oscar Davis and Brian Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School class, Raymond Norris, Ralph Darby, Marcus Ferguson, Branson Holt, James Calvin Bolton, Mickey Peterson, Edward Hudson, Bernie Edwards and Daryl Andress.

Family will receive friends Monday, May 8, 2017, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Myrtle Ann Rolin

Mrs. Myrtle Ann Rolin, 68, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in Pensacola, Florida.

Mrs. Rolin was a native and lifelong resident of Century, FL. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, canning, dancing and the outdoors. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Rolin and brothers, Ray Walston and Charles Walston.

She is survived by her boyfriend, James Ray Foster of Century, FL; two sons, Matthew (Tonya) Rolin of Flomaton, AL and Tracy (Denise) Rolin of Flomaton, AL; one daughter, Tabitha (Tracy) Tedder of Century, FL; two brothers, Donald Wayne Walston of Milton, FL and Paul Walston of Walnut Hill, FL; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the Beulah Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Mr. H.L. Crawford, 61, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. Crawford was a native and lifelong resident of Repton, AL. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 465. He was a loving father, grandfather, loved his friends, forestry, dozer work was a passion. He was a loving and giving person. He attended the McCullough Christian Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Laura Crawford and three brothers, Douglas Crawford, Andrew Crawford and Eddie Crawford.

He is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer (Donavon) Brown of Walnut Hill, FL, Laura Crawford Martin of Birmingham, AL and Brenda (Brandon) Weaver of Atmore, AL; seven grandchildren, Tristan, Alayna, Caden, Kayleigh, Nicholas, Landon and Addison and a loving nephew and niece, Lee Crawford and Sherry Maguire.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Don McDonald officiating.

Burial was at the Crawford Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lee Crawford, Ralph Lilly, Wesley Burton, George Johnson, Cody Williams and Austin Rowell.

Honorary pallbearer was Charles Smith.

Savannah Lynn Buck

Savannah Lynn Buck, 16, of Cantonment, FL passed away April 29, 2017. Savannah loved being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She loved being with her AJROTC family and friends from school.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandpa, William C. Buck; great-grandpa, Gerald W. Ellers; great-grandma, Shirley S. Ellers; and great-aunt, Nancy Stewart.

She is survived by her loving mother, Amanda Buck; brother, Tyler Buck; grandparents, Ray and Pam Buck; uncles, Justin and Jason Buck, and Daniel Langston; aunts, Jenifer Mitchell, Lisa Buck and Autumn Bingham; 26 cousins, five great-uncles; five great-aunts; two great-great-uncles; and one great-great-aunt.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Langston, Justin Buck, Jason Buck, Wayne Buck, Nickolas Lambeth, David Thomas and William Black.

Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2017, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North beginning at 1 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m.

Christy Ellen Ellis

May 3, 2017

Christy Ellen Ellis, 59, of Berrydale, passed away on April 29, 2017. She was born on April 12,1958, in Brewton, AL to Corine Sular (Borders) Ellis and William E. “Bill” Ellis. She graduated from Jay High School in 1976. After graduation, Christy followed her passion in the photography industry. She later worked at Monsanto/Solutia for 16 years.

Christy was preceded in death by her parents; sister Nelda Kay Landsdon; brother, William George “Man” Ellis; and niece, Amanda Ellis.

She is survived by her brothers, Gene Ellis (Francis) and Rodney Ellis (Janet); sister, Brenda Bedsole (Kenny); sister-in-law, Theresa Ellis; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Christy first and foremost loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved the outdoors, fishing, music, Auburn football, photography and spending quality time with her family, friends (especially Kelly Smith) and pets. Christy was often called the “family photographer”, taking pictures of memories for everyone to cherish. She also dedicated many hours assisting with her beloved church family and choir. Music was a passion she was grateful to share with all.

Services will be held Friday, May 5, 2017, at Trahan Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the funeral services begin at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow at Whitfield Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Ellis, Kevin Ellis, Brian Ellis, Drake EIIis, Daryl Ellis and Chase Ellis.

Shirley Lassitter White, 74 of Atmore, AL, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in Fairhope, AL. She was a clothing inspector for Vanity Fair Mills. She was born in Atmore, AL on February 14, 1943, to the late Robert Jack and Ada Bell Wall Lassitter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Ray White; siblings, Comer Lee Lassitter, Carnis O. Lassitter, Milford Lassitter, Rubert Lassitter, Marshall Lassitter, Grace Mire, Sue Cumbie and Carol Sawyer.

Survivors include one son, Mark (Michelle) White of Atmore, AL; one daughter, Sherry (Eddie) Rider of Loxley, AL; four grandchildren, Britney, Tiffany, Christopher, and Victoria; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in Booneville Baptist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Drake McGhee, Dalton Walker, Thomas Holley, Billy Byrd, Rusty Lassitter, and Terry Cumbie.

Mary Frances Weaver

May 1, 2017

Mary Frances Weaver, 80 of Atmore, AL, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Bay Minette, AL. She was a homemaker. She was born in Atmore, AL to the late Mack and Mattie Caraway Goodson on May 25, 1936. She was a member of McCullough Christian Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Weaver; and a son, Kenneth Mack Weaver.

Survivors include three sons, Howard (Jeanette) Weaver, Ricky (Cathy) Weaver, all of Atmore, AL and Rodney (Anna) Weaver of Pace, FL; one daughter, Cindy (Allen) Cobb of Uriah, AL; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Cornellius Phillips officiating.

Interment was in McCullough Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Cameron Cobb, Blake Weaver, Chad McMurphy, Carl Ward, Don Wooten and Scott Dew.

Jerry Randall Bowman

April 25, 2017

Jerry Randall Bowman, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017, in Pensacola, Florida after a brief illness. He was born on January 1, 1943, in Fayetteville, NC to Andrew and Gladys Bowman and raised in Oxford, AL. He married Margaret Anne Wilson in January 1965, just months before he graduated from Jacksonville State University with degrees in biology and chemistry. He started out as a Junior High science teacher in Anniston, Alabama, but after two years began service with the Boy Scouts of America, which would become his lifelong career.

By 1968, Bowman was selected Young Man of the Year in Talladega, Alabama. He became the Scout Executive for the Daniel Boone BSA Council in Asheville, N.C. in 1976 where he served for six years before becoming an Assistant Scout Executive in Atlanta, Georgia. From October 1985, until his retirement in March 1998, Bowman served as the Scout Executive for the Gulf Coast Council. He continued his commitment to the BSA as a member of the Gulf Coast Council advisory board.

Always dedicated to developing godly character and leadership skills in young people, Bowman was frequently called upon as a public speaker and teacher. He also demonstrated his Christian commitment to service through active involvement at Olive Baptist Church where for a number of years he taught preschool and adult Sunday school classes. Bowman was a masterful story-teller, often weaving in character truths and lessons on high moral values while spinning tales of southern humor. He was also an avid hobby fisherman and golfer. In later years found his greatest fulfillment being the “available grandparent” to his four grandchildren.

Married 52 years, Bowman and his wife often hosted Bible studies and church groups. They enjoyed travel to Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria and Holland.

He is also survived by his son, Robert Bowman with grandchildren Trevor and Shelby of Ocala, FL and daughter, Amanda Bowman-Nissim, son-in-law, Steve Nissim with grandchildren, Asher and Ellie. Additional surviving family include a sister-in-law, Kathy Bowman and niece Amber Sanderson of Scotland Neck, N.C.; an aunt, Jewel Bushey of Racine, WI and many cousins.

The memorial service was held on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Olive Baptist Church. A reception will follow. The family requests memorial gifts be designated to Olive Baptist Church, Preschool Ministry, 1836 E. Olive Rd, Pensacola, FL 32514 or Gulf Coast Council, BSA, 9440 University Parkway, Pensacola, FL 32514.

Marie Roberson Lambeth

Mrs. Marie Roberson Lambeth, 67, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, in Jay, Florida.

Mrs. Lambeth was a native and lifelong resident of McDavid, FL. She was retired employee of Vanity Fair and was an employee of the Pic & Save in Brewton, AL. She was of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, F.W. Lambeth; parents, W.C. and Mollie Roberson; sister, Irene Jones; and brother, Bennie C. Roberson.

She is survived by her two step-sons, Freddie (Peggy) Lambeth of Robinsonville, AL and Teddy (Shannon) Lambeth of Flomaton, AL; one sister, Frances Roberson of McDavid, FL and one nephew, Joe Roberson of Opelika, AL.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. J.P. Lambeth officiating.

Burial was at the Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leslie Barnes, Dwight Hopkins, Billy Martin, James Emmons, Cliff Emmons and Jack Godwin.

Donald F. Lewis, Jr.

April 25, 2017

Donald (Don) F. Lewis, Jr., of Pensacola, FL, passed away on April 20, 2017, after his six month battle with cancer. Don was surrounded by his wife of 37 years, Christy Lewis; son, Donald F. Lewis III; daughter, Ciara Kervin, and so many other family and friends. Don was an electrician by trade for over 38 years, and spent the past 11 years employed at Ascend.

He was a perfect example of a “good man.” He was a softball and baseball coach to his daughter, son, and granddaughters at Bellview, Pace and NEP ballparks. He was also a “buddy,” to his grandson. Don was the dad cheering on his son at every football game, and the one at every event for his daughter and grandchildren. He really enjoyed camping, boating and hunting. He was the best husband and always put his family first. His tender heart, friendship, and love for his family and friends will truly be missed.

Don is survived by his high school sweetheart, Christy Lewis; son, Donald (Donnie) Lewis III; daughter, Ciara (Devan) Kervin; grandchildren, Payton and Adalyn (Shiela) Lewis and Kamden Kervin; sisters, Dena Oldfield, Donna Nezovich and Dianna Bair. He had numerous nieces, nephews and an uncle.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Donald F. and Barbara L. Lewis.

Pallbearers will be his dear friend, Ben Cawby, and nephews, Johnny Perkins, Stacy Perkins, Lonnie Perkins, Scotty Willard and Lee Willard.

Honorary pallbearers are Mike Wales, Donnie Kervin, Brandon Ruiz, Jason Cawby, Billy Redmond, Bill Redmond and Jody Nezovich.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Jan Presley-Davis, and the West Florida Covenant Hospice team for everything they have done for them.

Visitation will be at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 12 p.m., with Pastor Ken Ponder officiating.

Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
