Gwynne Daniels

Gwynne Daniels, 84, of Cantonment, FL passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Gwynne was employed at the telephone company, then went to work at Daniels-Ellis Electrical Supply Company where her husband was the co-owner. She was a longtime member of East Brent Baptist Church. She loved the ladies in her Sunday school class and appreciated their friendship over the years. She enjoyed gardening and fishing.

She will be remembered as a woman who loved her family with all of her heart; she put God first in everything she did. Her greatest joy was doing for others and not expecting anything in return. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard B. Daniels and her grandson, Riley Daniels.

She is survived by her sister, Imogene Barnes; brother, Gerald Day; daughters, Zeta Gornick (Joe) and Angie Gilmore (Mark); son, Mike Daniels (Gena); grandchildren, Rachel Parker (Clint), Brandon Gilmore, Chad Gornick, Justin Gilmore, and Reagan Daniels; great-grandsons, Carson Parker and Jackson Parker.

Memorials may be made to The Ronald McDonald House, 5200 Bayou Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32503.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at East Brent Baptist Church beginning at 1 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Timothy and Susan Conway Adams

Timothy and Susan Conway Adams died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at there home in Flomaton, AL. Mr. & Mrs. Adams were life long residents of the Atmore & Flomaton area. They were of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Adams was an employee of Frit Car Inc, in Brewton, AL.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her three sons, Charles Jake (Jodi) Hadley of Perdido, AL, Jon Corrie Salyer of Opelika, AL and Michael David (Ashley) Salyer of Warner Robins, GA; one brother, Randolph (Deborah) Conway of Perdido, AL and three grandchildren, Tyler & Blayne Hadley and Emerson Salyer.

Mr. Adams is survived by his mother, Doris Adams of McDavid, FL; three step-sons, Charles Jake (Jodi) Hadley of Perdido, AL, Jon Corrie Salyer of Opelika, AL and Michael David (Ashley) Salyer, Jr. of Warner Robins, GA; one brother, Thomas Grady (Nancy Dale) Adams of Century, FL; one sister, Dianne (Philip) Muse of Brewton, AL; three grandchildren, Tyler & Blayne Hadley and Emerson Salyer; two nephews, Austin and Cody Adams and special cousin Donnie Johnson.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. William Chancery officiating.

Burial for Mr. Timothy will follow at the Christian Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, August 18, 2017 from 12 Noon until service time at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for Mr. Timothy will be Richard Chancery, Kevin Merchant, Richard Merchant, B.J. Johnson, Willie Johnson and Darin Merchant.

Emma Cleo Phillips Bynum Keating

Emma Cleo Phillips Bynum Keating, age 92, died peacefully at home on August 15, 2017. Cleo as she was known by most of her family and childhood friends was born March 8, 1925, in McCullough, Alabama, the daughter of Della Walker Phillips Albritton and Joseph Thomas Phillips.

Her family moved to Nokomis, she spent her childhood in close proximity to Poarch, Alabama, where her Creek Indian family originated. God first then family was her life goal.

Emma was first married to Meador Bynum they lived in Laurel, MS and had four children; Evelyn, Toxie Carl, Faye Marie and Paul Bynum.

During the mid- 1950’s, after a divorce, Emma was employed as a waitress in many of well-known restaurants of downtown Pensacola where she met her beloved husband of 55 years, John Keating. They married September 12, 1957. They had three children Ann Marie, Catherine Theresa, and Karen Lorraine Keating.  he loved her family. She made memorable times with her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. At family reunions Emma’s coconut cake was  famous. She enjoyed gardening and liked to grow flowers especially gardenias and roses. All who knew her will sorely miss her and her sweet spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Keating, a son Paul Bynum, two of her sisters Etta Mae Phillips and Mary Virginia Phillips Ealy Dorman.

She is survived by her two sisters Pauline J. Phillips Parker and Patricia Ann Albritton Smillie, her children Evelyn Bynum Everidge, Toxie Carl Bynum(Sandra), Faye Marie Bynum Gaspard Boutwell (Cleve), Ann Keating Thames(Chuck), Catherine Keating Siewert, and Karen Keating Hall (Tim), her grandchildren Ronnie, Michael, and Donna Doebler; Karen, Becky and Yancey Gaspard; Robert, Ben, and Lydia Bynum; John and Joseph Hall; Zachary and Benjamin Thames; 23 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Special thanks to Minnie Hassell and Myrtis Nims for lovingly caring for Emma Cleo in her final years. The family will receive friends at Woodbine Methodist Church, 5200 Woodbine Rd., Pace, FL on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00pm with  internment at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery, 8008 Chumuckla Hwy., Pace, FL.

Marcia Johansen Stanley Andrews

August 18, 2017

Marcia Johansen Stanley Andrews of Pensacola, Florida passed away after a brief illness on August 16, 2017 in her home in Pace, Florida. Born in Pensacola to Carl Edward and Mary Alice Johansen on December 15, 1948, she graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School.

Marcia married Kenneth Raye Andrews on January 1, 2011. The couple enjoyed vacationing in the mountains and cruising the Bahamas. After 25 years of service she retired from Southern Bell (AT&T.)

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl Edward and Mary Johansen.

Survivors include her spouse, Kenneth Andrews; children, Scott Stanley, Andree Bey (JJ,) and Mary Beth Stanley; stepsons, Bradford (Lexie) and Stephen Andrews; grandchildren, Ashlynn Stanley, Madison Stanley, Kelly Bey, Mia Bey, and Matthew Bey; siblings, Janice Mattair (Tom,) Michael Johansen, Pat Johansen (Becky,) Theresa Moyer (Chris,) Cathy Potter (Rick,) Paul Johansen (Ann,) and Stephen Johansen (Kathy,) as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 10 am with an hour visitation prior to the funeral service. The interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12 pm.

Willie Blossom Lamb Halbert

August 17, 2017

Willie Blossom Lamb Halbert went home to Heaven on August 16, 2017. She passed away peacefully from complications with dementia, at Mt. Ridge Health and Wellness Center in Black Mountain, NC.

She was born in Skyland, NC on Jan. 12, 1927 to W.B. Lamb and Myrtle Metcalf Lamb Meacham. She was the first born and is pre-deceased by her parents and brothers, Glenn, Dan and Blake Lamb and Larry Meacham and a baby sister, Bonnie Lamb. Her brothers, Chase and Phil Lamb survive her.

Her family moved to Florida when she was a child and she graduated with honors from Tate High School in Cantonment, FL. She met her husband, Rev. Lewis Alvin Halbert, at Stetson College in Deland, FL, where they both graduated with degrees in religion. Her husband of 56 years passed away in 2006.

Upon their college graduation, Lewis and Willie moved to Louisiana where he attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Side by side, they pastored, taught the Bible, and served many churches in the Louisiana area and again when they moved back to Florida and resided in several towns in the Panhandle area, ending up in Marianna, FL.

Besides fulfilling her role as a loving and devoted pastor’s wife, she was a talented and conscientious homemaker and a dedicated, loving and sacrificing mother. She was active in their lives with school events, as a seamstress, a nurturer and caregiver, a Bible teacher and a true supporter of all their activities and work, while finding a fun outlet with Lewis as members of the Grand Squares Square Dancing Club in Marianna. She sewed all her square dance dresses and vests for Lewis. Besides her family, she enjoyed gardening, drawing, sewing, reading and writing.

She is survived by her four children, Roland (Diane) Halbert of Black Mountain, Al (Donna) Halbert of Leesburg, GA, Rachel Allen of Black Mountain and Marti (Ken) Hall of Garner, NC. Also, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals and the family will receive friends immediately following the service.

A graveside service will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain.

Jason Edward Reid

August 17, 2017

Jason Reid was born April 1, 1972 in Garland, Texas, to Charles and Christine Reid. The family moved to Pelham, Alabama, in 1986 and Jason graduated from Pelham High School in 1990. He graduated from Auburn University in 1996.

He passed way on August 15, 2017.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar Hugh and Estelle Reid, Thomas and Louise Folmar, and his father Charles Edward Reid.

Jason is survived by his mother, Christine Reid, sister, Amy Kornegay, nieces Zoe Nadler, Ally Nadler, and Mia Kornegay, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorial service will be held Sunday, August 20, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Byrneville United Methodist Church,.1351 Byrneville Road, Century, FL.

June Briggs Milstead

August 16, 2017

June Briggs Milstead, 85, entered Glory, Sunday, August 13. She was a lifelong resident of the Pensacola area and wife for 68 years of Wiley G. “Blue” Milstead, who was originally from Walnut Hill.

She was the mother of five children, 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-grandson, Wiley O. Colvin.

Services will be Thursday, August 17, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, Idaho.

Margaret Jean Moulder Shepler

August 16, 2017

Margaret Jean Moulder Shepler, 83, of Opelika, AL, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Opelika, AL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm before the service.

Mrs. Shepler was born on April 28, 1934, in Bowling Green, KY the daughter of the late Thomas Goldsmith Moulder and Virginia H. Butler Moulder. Margaret was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and began her 43-year teaching career soon after receiving her teaching degree. She retired from the Escambia County, FL School System and moved to Opelika, AL and became a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Donald Shepler, her husband since 1962, and her sister Jane Moulder.

Mrs. Shepler is survived by her daughter, Michelle Word and husband Bradley Word, Jr.; grandchildren, James Word and Margaret Word; several nieces, extended family and many caring friends everywhere. Marvin Beachy

August 16, 2017

Marvin Beachy, 80, of Atmore, AL, passed away Sunday August 13, 2017. He was born in Ohio, December 2, 1936, to Jonas and Amanda (Kramer) Beachy and he married Esther Troyer on April 11,1959. Marvin was a member of Mennonite Christian Fellowship.

Marvin is survived by his wife Esther, and four children: Deborah (Carl Martin) Atmore, AL, Faith (Jerry Gehman) Atmore, AL, Tim (Eunice Dagen) Silverdale, WA, and Jewel (Darryl Mast) Wagener, SC. He is survived by 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Simon Beachy, and Abe Beachy, and one sister Mabel Sommers.

Marvin was preceded in death by three brothers; Alvin Beachy, Joe Beachy, and Freeman Beachy.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Mennonite Christian Fellowship, 245 Tennant Drive, Atmore. Funeral services will be held August 17, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Mennonite Christian Fellowship with Blaine Copenhaver and Carl Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Freemanville Community Cemetery, Atmore, AL.

Faye Ellen Mitchell

August 16, 2017

On Monday August 14, 2017, Our Dear Lord called home one his angels, Faye Ellen Mitchell.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Jeremy) Qualls; grandchildren James, Savannah and Madison; sisters Carolyn (Ralph) Handler, Phyllis (Buddy) Gates, Virginia Weinman, Ruth E. Jennings; brothers Phillip Jennings, Michael Jennings and Henry Jennings. Faye also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be Friday, August 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Gonzalez United Methodist Church cemetery.
