Charles Perry Anthony

Charles Perry “Tony” Anthony, was inducted into the halls of Heaven, Friday, February 16, 2018, at 11:36 a.m. from his home, with his wife and daughter at his bedside. Charles was born January 14, 1940, in Chickasha, OK. He attended and taught photo school at NAS Pensacola, serving on both the USS Antietam and the USS Ranger. While onboard the Ranger, it responded to the USS Pueblo crisis. He eventually took a job as a radio dispatcher for the Florida Highway Patrol, retiring as Chief Duty Officer after 27 years. He was proud to be a member of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxulliary for 29 years. He re-enlisted in the Army National Guard, retiring from the Army as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Charles Anthony; siblings, Lois Atkinson and Hugh Anthony.
Tony is survived by his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth Holmes Anthony; daughter, Jeanne Kuettel (Meinrad); sons Charles Anthony, Edward Cronley (Andrea); and granddaughters, Jordan Cronley, Amber Kuettel and Kristin Kuettel.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018, until the service begins at 12 p.m., at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Guyton Montgomery will officiate.
Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Regency Hospice, 50 Beverly Parkway, Suite 200, Penscaola, FL 32505.

Dennis Alvin Garrett, Sr.

Mr. Dennis Alvin Garrett, Sr., age 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, in Atmore, Alabama.
Mr. Garrett was a native of Beaumont, TX and had resided in Davisville, FL since 1993. He was a musician at heart, could play numerous instruments, loved singing and hot rods. He was of the holiness faith. He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Garrett; oldest son, Dennis Jr.; step-daughter, Katie Lockett; brother, William Brooks Garrett; and sister, Connie Marie Garrett.
Survivors include his wife, Sara L. Garrett of Davisville, FL; mother, Mary L. Garrett (who passed on February 15, 2018); two sons, Jamie Lynn (Tracy) Garrett of Dry Springs, FL and David Garrett of Pensacola, FL; one step-son, William Lindsey Brown of Atmore, AL; one daughter-in-law, Sue Gulsby Garrett of Molino, FL; one brother, Kenneth “Sambo” (Margaret) Garrett of Bay Springs, FL; two sisters, Dianne (Doug) Murray of Daphne, AL and Donna (Randy) Hammac of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Blayne Garrett, Saige Garrett, Lucas White, Susan Wyse-Wright, Gabriel Rhea and Daylan Brown; and one great grandchild, Lyndzi Wright.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bay Springs Full Gospel Church with Bro. Joe Gibson officiating.

Mrs. Mary Walton Garrett, age 92, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home in Bay Springs, Florida.
Mrs. Garrett was a native of Carabelle, FL and a resident of Bay Springs, FL since 1947. She was active in the community serving as a seamstress and baker. She was a member of the Bay Springs Full Gospel Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Alvin Garrett; two sons, William Brooks Garrett and Dennis Alvin Garrett, Sr.; one daughter, Connie Marie Garrett; two brothers, W.D. Bill Walton and John Walton and one sister, Lois Elizabeth Walton.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth “Sambo” (Margaret) Garrett of Bay Springs, FL; two daughters, Mary Dianna (Doug) Murray of Daphne, AL and Donna Jane Shaw (Randy) Hammac of Pensacola, FL; one brother, Ernest Walton of Robertsdale, AL; one sister, Minnie Mae Dunnaway of Salem, AR; one sister-in-law, Ruth Walton of Livingston, TX; twelve grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Sara Garrett of Davisville, FL.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Bay Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Winnon Howard

Winnon Howard passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, surrounded by his children and wife. Mr. Howard was born to Beryl and Nellie Howard in Stapleton, Alabama, on June 8, 1941, and spent his childhood and early adult years in Brewton, Alabama. Mr. Howard was a graduate of W.S. Neal High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Munich and Berlin, Germany. His military service was truly unique. He was in Berlin shortly after the Berlin Wall was constructed and also served as a guard at Spandau Prison. He loved history and embraced the opportunity to witness it firsthand. Over his life, Mr. Howard quietly taught his children and the many others who knew him the meaning of commitment to family, service to others, and love of country. In addition to his Army service, Mr. Howard served in the Florida National Guard. He retired from Monsanto in the mid-1990s after more than 35 years of service.During his career, Mr. Howard worked in all kinds of weather and all times of day to provide for the family he built and the many friends who loved him. While at Monsanto, Mr. Howard was also a longtime member of the Monsanto Fire Brigade, attaining the rank of Captain, an Emergency Medical Technician, and an avid bowler with the plant’s league.
Mr. Howard is preceded in his passing by his father and mother, as well as his brother.
Mr. Howard is survived by Kay Howard, his wife of 49 years and his children, Carrie (Timothy) Rackard, Matthew Howard, Edwin (Kristen) Howard, John (Kristy) Howard, and Elizabeth (Bryan) Hall. Mr. Howard also leaves a legacy of love with his 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a very special aunt.
Mr. Howard was a modest man who generously spent his time on this Earth serving others and doing those things that make the world a brighter and better place for friend and stranger alike. He loved his gardens and pets and was kind to the smallest of creatures.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel. Formal services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Naval Aviation Museum or other worthwhile charity.
Mr. Howard quietly believed and practiced his Christian faith. To those of us who know and love him so much, Mr. Howard’s life echoes the words of Matthew: “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.”

Sterling E. Fancher

Sterling E. Fancher died February 11, 2018. He was born in Philadelphia, MS in 1919. He had been a resident of Atmore for the past 62 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mildred Cotton Fancher of Vickburg, MS; one son, Eddie T. Fancher; his mother and father; three sisters; and two brothers.
He is survived by one daughter, Julianna F. Hardy (Earl)of Atmore; one son, Bill Fancher (Laura) of Daphne, AL; five grandchildren, Alaina McDonald, April Thrasher (Frank), John F. Hawkins (Rachel), Liz Kolbe (Jason) and Eddie C. Fancher; seven great-grand children, Robin Rawson, Caleb McDonald, William S. Hawkins, Kadence Kolbe, Hudson Kolbe, Tanner Hammond, and Riece Hammond.
Sterling and Mildred taught school together for over thirty years. They retired from Ernest Ward High School after twenty-five years. They attended the First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mr. Fancher was a World War II Veteran and served in the South Pacific in the medical detactment.
Services were held Thursday February 15, 2018, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Arnold Hendrix officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Charles Thomas Huffines, 76 of Walnut Hill, FL, passed away February 9, 2018, at his residence. He was born to the late Clarence Huffines and Jewel Webb Huffines on December 10, 1941, in Franklin, KY. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Vietnam War. He was in the truck business for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jenene Farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Thrower Huffins of Walnut Hill, FL; two daughters, Kimberly Flurnoy of Atmore, AL and Shanna Huffines of Walnut Hill, FL; and one son, Doug (Leah) Vickery, Jr. of Flomaton, AL; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 11, 2018, at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Little Rock Holiness Cemetery with military honors.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Devon Hooks, age 86, of Pensacola, was called home February 9, 2018. He was born December 19, 1931, in Red Level, AL, to the late Roy and Georgia Hooks. He worked as an electrician for Monsanto and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Sharon Ann Hooks; daughter, Sherry Nims; and a host of others left to cherish his memory.
Memorial visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 2018, at First Pentecostal Church of Pensacola, 6500 North W Street, Pensacola FL 32505, from 9:30 a.m. until the memorial service begins at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Brian Kinsey will officiate.

Mrs. Sara Ann Boone Johnson, age 85, of Flomaton, Alabama, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018, in a Atmore, Alabama nursing facility after a brief illness. She was a native of Lafayfette, Alabama and a long time resident of Flomaton, Alabama. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Little Escambia Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Monsanto with 35 years of service, and former owner of The Garden Spot.
Survivors include her two sons, Melvin (Pam) Johnson of Flomaton, Alabama and Jason (Rebecca) Johnson of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one daughter, Marilyn Wilson of Flomaton, Alabama; one brother, Combs C. Johnson of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Sara Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Janey Johnson and Jenna Johnson; and a number of great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin F. Johnson and sister, Nancy Boone Rollins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hogg officiating.
Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery in Brewton, Alabama.

Margaret Wacks

Margaret Wacks, age 69, of Seminole, AL was called to her peace, Thursday, February 8, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born December 19, 1948, in Foley, AL to the late Oscar and Lillian Wells. Margaret was known for the time she spent as a nurse but was most proud of her role as a mother and grandmother. Margaret loved her trips to the casinos in Atmore and Biloxi, and waking up to a cup of good coffee. She also cherished family trips to the beach.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Terence J. Wacks; her parents; and her brother, Roger Wells.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving companion, Billy Davidson; her children, Tammaney K. (Rob) Willmann of Denver, CO, Courtney M. (Kevin) Marsh and Terence James (Dawn) Wacks II, of Loxley, AL; grandchildren, Cameron Marsh, Lilly Willmann, Madelon Harrison, Braden Marsh, Ashton Harrison, Kai Willmann and Emma Wacks; sisters, Peggy Merchant, Sandra Britt, Jackie Melton and Judy Gaines; brother, Darrell Wells; and a host of cherished extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 13, 2018, from 1 p.m. until the service begins at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Naureen Anne Hubbard Lockridge

Naureen Anne Hubbard Lockridge died at home after a prolonged illness on February 8, 2018, in Cantonment, Florida at the age of 88. She was born on July 19, 1929, in Rosiere, New York to Freeman and Elsie Hubbard.
She graduated from Cape Vincent Central High School in 1946. She married Reginald Lockridge on September 8, 1951. They moved to the Pensacola area in 1954. Her husband, children and everyone who knew her remembers her as a loving wife and as a mother who loved and encouraged her children to pursue their goals. She taught by example; her deep faith, love of family, and generous heart. Naureen was passionate about gardening and her volunteer activities, serving as a member of the St. Jude Church Altar Society and teaching children’s religion classes. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Mother Seton Guild at Sacred Heart Hospital where she delivered mail to the patients for 30 years.
Naureen is survived by her husband of 66 years, Reginald (Reg); children, Craig Lockridge (Jenny), Regina Ratliff (Kenny), Mark Lockridge, and Cheryl Pilling, all of Pensacola, Florida; her brother, John Hubbard (Majken) Chaumont of New York; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Caleb Lockridge, Victor and Kenneth Burke, Christopher Ratliff, Krista and Brandon Lockridg, Brian and Patrick Pilling, Stephanie Firth; and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son, Kim Lockridge; her parents, Freeman and Elsie Hubbard; brothers, Glen, Paul, and Harry Hubbard; and her sister, Nina Schloop.
A rosary service was held at Faith Chapel North on Friday, February 9, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial was held February 10, 2018, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Cantonment. Rev. George Thekku officiated the services.
Burial was at Spruell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Caleb Lockridge, Christopher Ratliff, Kenneth Burke, Brandon Lockridge, Patrick Pilling, and Brian Pilling.
Honorary pallbearers were Victor Burke and Kenny Ratliff.
