Allen Payne Smith IV

Mr. Allen Payne Smith IV age 49 of Jay FL, went to be home with the Lord and loved ones who have gone before him on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
Allen was born disabled. He had a smile that would light up the room and a heart of gold. He did not knnow what hate was, just love. I wish we were all like that. He loved his music, especially Bob Segar. Because he loved his old time Rock and Roll. His good friend Lynette Johnson and his parents took him to his favorite places La Hacienda in Milton FL. The commissary at Whiting Field. A man that loved to shop with his mom. Allen had a special place in his heart for Lynette Johnson. We take solace in knowing he is with her now.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
Allen is survived by his parents, Allen and
Connie Smith; sisters, Sheila (George) Kowalski and Karen Smith; nephews, Jimmy Kowalski, Tyler Kowalski and Lonnie Hutchinson; nieces Jennifer Beal Alexis Johnson and many other relatives and friends.

Dorothy Frances Cole “Dot” Hendrix

Dorothy Frances Cole “Dot” Hendrix, 88 of Atmore, AL passed away September 16, 2018 in Atmore. She was born on December 30, 1929 to the late Dr. David DuBose and Martha Schulz Cole in Monroe County, AL. She was a longtime member of The First Baptist Church of Atmore, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Awana. She was a lifelong homemaker whose love for cooking was surpassed only by her love for family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, William Herbert “Bill” Hendrix, and two sisters Elisabeth McCaskey, and Ann Byrd.
She is survived by her son Bert (Sandra) Hendrix of Mobile, AL, her daughter Sheri (Jack) Darby of Atmore, AL, and her son Robert (Melanie) Hendrix of Atmore, AL. Grandchildren are Elisabeth (Heath) Ward, Hayley (Zac) Palm, Will Hendrix, Jana Hendrix and Deeya (Silas) Seamans. Great grandchildren are Hendrix Ward, Mary-Grace Ward, Anna Kate Palm, Lee Palm, Darby Locke, and Dillon Seamans.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2:30PM from the First Baptist Church of Atmore with Dr. Larry Patterson and Bert Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Will Hendrix, Heath Ward, Zac Palm, Jack Hendrix, George Watkins, Thomas Guy, Michael Williamson, and Steve Jernigan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM, from the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Gerald Earl “Jerry” Rich Jr.

Gerald Earl “Jerry” Rich Jr., age 67, was born July 24, 1951 in Coral Gables, FL to Gerald Earl Sr. and Olive (Haines) Rich. Jerry graduated from Escambia High School in 1969. Jerry also graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of West Florida and a Masters in Management from Troy University. Jerry spent his life as an educator to many. Jerry was in the naval aviation flight class of 0577, where he was a naval pilot and flight instructor. After retiring from the Navy, Jerry worked as a middle school teacher and dean for Warrington, Ransom, and Ferry Pass Middle Schools. Additionally, Jerry was the night school coordinator for Escambia High School’s adult program for several years. Jerry touched the lives and helped shape the futures of numerous men and women. After retiring from the Escambia County school system, Jerry enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with his grandchildren, and working with the men’s ministry at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Pensacola, FL. Jerry is survived by his four children: Kathryn (husband Matt) Boliew and David (wife Bryce); Jerrod and James (wife Lauren)—with their mother, Carla; brother, James “Jimmy” (wife Nancy); sister, Julie (Caldwell); six grandchildren: Zoe, Jocelyn, Trevor, Jaxson, Riley, and Gemma; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Services will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola, FL at 5:00PM on Saturday, September 22, 2018. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday.
Edith Yvonne Bonifay Huggins

Edith Yvonne Bonifay Huggins was born July 23, 1925 in Pensacola, FL. She flew away home to Heaven on September 13, 2018, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the best wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend one could hope for. She was dearly loved by all who knew her. Her love, hospitality, and laugh were contagious, and she was the life of the party. She taught us by example how to live a Godly life, and prayed for everyone in the family and her friends daily.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John F. Huggins; her parents, Clinton and Kathryn Bonifay; her sisters, Anita Creary and Elaine Hudson; her two sons, John D. and Stephen F. Huggins.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Sandra Huggins, Kathryn (Al) Taylor, Elaine (Ken) Mason; her grandchildren, Nancy Peters, Stephen (Kathryn) Huggins, John (Mary) Huggins, Phadrhea (Chuck) Lapierre, Jacob (Chelle) Mason, Adam Mason, Jennifer (C.D.) Corbin, Tara Taylor, Joshua (Sarah) Mason; and many, many great and great-great grandchildren.
We could not have asked for better care for Edith than was given by her daughters Sandra, Kathy, and Elaine, and granddaughter Nancy. Special thanks to Erica,Ginger, and Maria of Regency Hospice, who loved Edith and her family and comforted the sisters in her final days.
A memorial service was held at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home in Cantonment, FL on Monday, September 17, 2018, with Pastor Jeff Howard officiating.
Flowers are welcome as are donations to Regency Hospice and Heritage Baptist Church in Cantonment, FL.

Damon Dwight Bell, 64 of Atmore, AL, passed away at his residence on Friday, September 14, 2018. He worked at Bay Wood Products as a purchasing agent and also worked in tele-communications for many years. He was born in Atmore, AL, on October 28, 1953, to the late Floyd and Annie Ruth Moye Bell.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Powell Bell of Atmore, AL; three sons, Justin (Paulette) Bell of Pensacola, FL, Kevin (Sheila) Bell of McCullough, AL, Keith (Rebecca) Bell of Robertsdale, AL; one daughter, Amanda (Eric) McBrayer of Birmingham, AL; two brothers, Dempsey Bell and Donald Bell, both of Evergreen, AL; one sister, Arieta Walker of Atmore, AL; and 8 grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Dempsey Bell and Bro. Donald Bell officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Justin Bell, Kevin Bell, Keith Bell, and Derek Bell.

Carolyn Kay Pittman Monaghan, 60, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018, at her home in Cantonment, Florida with her son, Keith and his fiancé, Jamie by her side.
Kay was born the fourth of six children on April 26, 1958, in Pensacola, Florida to Bruce Pittman and Nayda Faye Poe Pittman.
She is preceded in death by her father.
Kay is survived by her mother, Faye Pittman; son, Keith Landgraff (Jamie); grandson, Drake Landgraff; and numerous extended family members.
Kay’s faith in Christianity guarantees a place for her. She mastered many health challenges throughout her life and wished upon her death to donate her body to science and we respectfully honor that request.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the home of her son, Keith, 911 Jacks Branch Road, Cantonment, Florida.

Donald “Joey” King, 51, of Clear Springs, AL, passed away on September 11, 2018, after a battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by so many friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betsy Jean Hart; and step father, William “Bill” Hart.
He was survived by his father, Norman (Ruby) King; wife, Patricia King; brother, Glenn (Annette) King; three step children, Joshua (Becky) Allen, Dixie Hadley, and Skye Brown; five grandchildren, Jade and Jordan Allen, LJ “Spud”Hadley, CJ “Hoot” and Lilly Bug Moye; three nieces, Brittany King, Kayla Mott, and Xadie Mott; two nephews, Wesley King and Xander Mott; aunt, Susan Vann; and numerous family members.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Mr. Larry Dean Milliken, Sr., age 71, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018.
Mr. Milliken was born in Ohio and moved to Atmore, AL in his early years. He attended Escambia County High School and was a graduate of the class of 1965. He was a retired instrument technician with NADEP with 24 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Miriam Nell Milliken.
Survivors include his lifelong friend and mother of his children, Lelia Ann Benner of Atmore, AL; one son, Larry Dean (Lisa) Milliken, Jr. of Atmore, AL; one daughter, Jennifer M. (Dennis) Keller of Havervill, MA; one brother, Alan L. (Libby) Milliken of Pensacola, FL; one sister, Rhonda (Butch) Kinney of Prattville, AL; two grandchildren, Hunter Dean (Hannah) Milliken and Sara Ashlyn Milliken; three great-grandchildren, Tyson D. Milliken, Levi A. Milliken and Chase L. Milliken; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and his special Pensacola Family.

Frances Melton Doyle passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 in Pensacola, FL.
Frances was born Dec., 5, 1925, to the late Henry and Velmer Jolly in South Carolina. She completed her registered nurse training at Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing.
She is predeceased by her late husband of 44 years, James “JT” Thomas Melton; parents; and three brothers.
Frances is survived by her husband, Bunn E. Doyle; three sons, William M. “Mike” (Marion) Stephens, David D. “Buzz” Stephens, and Edward Thomas Melton; two daughters, Jamie Melton; and Gayle (Richard) Kuhhirte; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Smith of Newberry, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 12, 2018 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Bro. Bill Flannigan officiating. Burial will follow in Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Denver “Bubbie” Blake Shuttlesworth, age 19, passed on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Denver was a native and life-long resident of the Atmore, AL area. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and Friendly Holiness Church. He was a 2017 graduate of the Victory Performing Arts Academy of Pace, FL, member of the Poarch Creek Indians 4-H Club, and the Poarch Creek Indians Summer Youth Program. He was the 2016 Joy of Life Mardi Gras King, played football and baseball at J U Blacksher School, participated in the Native American Youth Organization (NAYO), and was a member of the Skyhigh for St. Jude. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, William Fretwell and Jerry Bailey, paternal grandparents, Worthy James Shuttlesworth and D.D. Darnell.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sandy and Darrell Hollinger of Uriah, AL; father, Randal Shuttlesworth of Perdido, AL; brother, Austin Shuttlesworth of Perdido, AL; sister, Anna Grace “Tootie” Hollinger of Uriah, AL; maternal grandmother, Ruth Bailey of Poarch, AL; paternal grandmother, Gladys Darnell of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandparents, Alex “Buster” and Yvonne “Pug” Hollinger of Uriah, AL; special uncle, Randy Fretwell of Poarch, AL; numerous uncles, aunts, other relatives and many friends.
