Arthur Ray McKenzie

Arthur Ray McKenzie, 80 of Atmore, passed away Monday October 01, 2018,  in Mobile. He was retired from the shipyard as a foreman, born in Mize, MS,  on December 10, 1937, to the William Ernest and Thelma Byrd McKenzie. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Vickie Rena McKenzie Garrett.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothy Hollingsworth McKenzie of Atmore; sister Mary Catherine Gardner of Columbus, MS ; three grandchildren Tyler (Hannah) Garrett of Augusta , GA, Jamie Garrett of Atmore,. Jennifer (Lee) Graves
of Grand Bay, AL; and great-grandchild Seth Graves of Grand Bay, AL.

Services will be Friday, October 5, 2018, at 1 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby  Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Jimmy Long officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery at Nokomis, FL.

Family will receive friends, Thursday evening October 4, 2018, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Judson Scott Caraway

September 30, 2018

Infant Judson Scott Caraway passed away on September 25, 2018, in Brewton, Alabama.

Survivors include his parents, Anthony and Jessica Caraway; paternal grandparents, Tim and Tiwania Caraway; maternal grandparents, Ken and Andrea McCray; parental great grandparents, James and Judy Welch and Harold and Ruby Fretwell.

Kayla Marie Hall

Kayla Marie Hall, 27 of Pensacola passed away September 26, 2018. She was born on March 21, 1991, and was employed at Kids Place Daycare. Kayla was dedicated to her kids, family and friends.
Preceding her in death are her grandparents, Marc Chisolm, Don Peyton, Eunice Beck and Bobby Small, Sr.
She is survived by her fiancé, Dustin Burrus; parents, Kevin and Jessica Hall, Bobby and Jody Small; children, Adrianna, Steven, Bentley and Arianna; brothers, Lohgan and Bradley; sisters, Emma and Ashley; as well as loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and all of her amazing friends.

A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, October 1, 2018, from 1 p.m. until the service begins at 2 p.m.

The family would like to thank all her cancer doctors and the ICU staff at Sacred Heart Hospital. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Florida Cancer Specialist.

Brad Stinson

September 26, 2018

Mr. Brad Stinson, age 42, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. Stinson was a native of Norfolk, VA, former resident of Enterprise, AL, and has resided in Atmore, AL since 2008. He was a 1994 graduate of Enterprise High School, 1998 graduate of Auburn University, and 2003 graduate of Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. He was an avid quail and deer hunter, and he shot skeet growing up. At the age of 14, he was the Alabama State Champion. He also shot at the Jr. World Competition in Massachusetts, Texas, and California and was invited to the Olympic Training Camp in Colorado Springs, CO in 1993, where he was invited to join the USA Olympic Team. He was a member of the Enterprise Rifle Team and ROTC Program. Since 2010, he had been an Assistant Attorney General with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians primarily managing all litigation for the Tribe and all Tribal entities. He also served as the Tribe’s prosecutor and liaison to many outside agencies that deal with law enforcement, including district attorneys’ offices and the United States Attorney’s offices for the Southern and Middle District of Alabama, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

He is survived by his parents, Charles Byron and Barbara June Stinson of Enterprise, AL; wife of 14 years, Lori Madison Stinson of Atmore, AL; two daughters, Bradleigh Anne Stinson and Bailey Catherine Stinson, both of Atmore, AL; grandmother, Evelyn Jones of Enterprise, AL; aunts and uncles, Patricia (Michael) Green of St. Mary’s, GA and Rick (Sherrie) Jones of New Brockton, AL; and two cousins, Michelle (Alex) Apotsos of Williamstown, MA and Jeslyn Jones of New Brockton, AL.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Patterson officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM at the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Mrs. Anita Faye Upton, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in Mobile, Alabama.

Mrs. Upton was a native of Pensacola, FL, former resident of Molino, FL and has resided in Flomaton, FL since1971. She was manager for the Mt. Zion Chapel Baptist Church Food Kitchen and a member of the Mt. Zion Chapel Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Callie Patrick; son, Jeff Upton; three brothers, Melvin Patrick, Lamar Patrick and Leon Patrick, and one sister, Bessie Bondurant.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leo Upton of Flomaton, AL; one son, Eric “Teg” Upton of Flomaton, AL; one daughter, Tammy Lynn Upton of Jay, FL; one daughter-in-law, Michelle Upton of Milton, FL; two sisters, Geneva Edmonson of Molino, FL and Dorothy Sellers of Molino, FL; two grandchildren, Tristan Upton and Tanner Upton both of Milton, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Peebles officiating.

Jay Kenny Milstid, 39 of Poarch, AL. passed away September 23, 2018. He was born April 18, 1979 in Atmore, AL. He is preceded in death by his father Jay Jackson, grandfather Earl Jackson and grandmother Marie Ramer.

He is survived by his mother Dona Pearl Jackson (Jess Taylor) of Poarch, AL. and his grandmother Joyce Jackson of Poarch, AL. His children Samantha Cain (Andrew Crenshaw) of Atmore, AL; Tyler Milstid of Pine Grove, AL; Jacob McGhee of Atmore, AL; Kenneth Earl Milstid of Latham, AL; Skylyn Milstid of Atmore, AL. A sister Joyce Marie Milstid (Greg Rolin) of Atmore and a step brother Will (Lachlan) Taylor of Citronelle, AL. Grandchildren Malachi Brooks, Kylar Crenshaw and Emery Crenshaw. Two aunts Linda (Lee) Hiebert of Atmore, AL. and Rachel (Jimmy) Varner of Latham, AL. Two special cousins Kyanne, Cheyanne Hadley and seven nieces and nephews.

Betty Glass Loup, 68 of Atmore, AL. passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 in Mobile, AL. She was born to the late Leslie Owen and Berta Lewis Glass on March 8, 1950 in Bay Minette, AL. She was a retired secretary from the Red Cross and was a member of Liberty Church in Atmore, AL. Her parents, husband Ronnie A. Loup and one son Christian Morton precede her in death.

She is survived by her two children Angelia (David) Messmer and Johnathon “Chad” (Rachel) Morton all of Barnett’s Crossroads, AL. Her siblings Rusty (Janet) Glass of Castleberry, AL; David (Anita) Glass of Wawbeek, AL; DeWayne (Brooke) Glass of Pineview, AL; Barbara Ann Dickson of Elberta, AL; Jean Sanspree of Canoe, AL; Brenda (Wayne) Bell of Barnett’s Crossroads, AL; Roberta Strickland of Walnut Hill, FL; Diane (Ronnie) Byrd of Semmes, AL and Susanne Glass of Loxley, AL. Mrs. Paulette Godwin, age 70, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Pensacola, Florida.

Mrs. Godwin was a native and life long resident of Century, FL. She was retired from the Alabama Department of Correction as the warden secretary with 25 years of service. She was of the Baptist Faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Luverne Knowles and two brothers, Billy Knowles and Bobby Knowles.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wayne Godwin of Century, FL; two sons, Marcus (Allison) Godwin of Century, FL and Brandon Godwin of Century, FL; one daughter, Lisa Godwin (Daniel) Hoomes of Century, FL; two sisters, Ruby Jean (Archie) Phillips of Crossville, TN and Patricia Crews of Brewton, AL; four grandchildren, Shelton Blair of Century, FL, Lucas Blair of Century, FL, Hunter Godwin of Century, FL and Colby Graham of Century, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Etta Mae Lambeth Brown

September 24, 2018

Etta Mae Lambeth Brown resident of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the age of 83. Etta was born, raised, and worked on a farm in Flomaton, Alabama. She graduated from Flomaton High School. She participated in the Flomaton Band and Flomaton Basketball team.

Etta moved to Mobile, Alabama where she met her husband, James A. Brown, Sr. and raised 5 children while working in the Dry Cleaning business. She later moved to Pensacola, Florida where she retired from Monsanto.

She worked hard all her life and never left a job undone. She loved sports and was on several women’s softball teams. She also coached a girl’s fast pitch softball team to many championships. She loved to cook and everyone loved her food at family gatherings. She loved to can vegetables for her family, make quilts, and watch baseball. And she loved to FISH! Etta enjoyed going to breakfast and lunch at Cracker Barrel with her run around buddy, Otis Coleman. Most of all she loved the Lord and her family! She started her days reading her Bible and ended them watching John Hagee ministries on TV. She was a great prayer warrior for our family and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Addie Mae Walsh; father, Norville Jack Lambeth; brother, Jack Lambeth; and her two sons, James A. Brown, Jr. and John W. Brown.

Etta is survived by her 3 daughters, Mary E. Jordan, Deborah Sue (Dave) Dixon, and Darletta (Otis) Coleman; 12 grandchildren, Julie A. Adams, Davey Dixon, Shana M. Holmes, Johnathan D. Dixon, Amanda D. Schickel, Dixie King, Tiffany Lewis, Candace L. Rorrer, Alicia Brown, Jared w. Brown, Christine Brown, and Austin Brown; and numerous great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North and at 12:30 p.m. at the Lambeth Church on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Services to begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Andy Boutwell officiating. Burial will follow services in Boutwell Cemetery.

Catherine Mae Patrick Cofield

Catherine Mae Patrick Cofield, age 85, surrounded by her family passed away peacefully on September 21, 2018. She was born in Magnolia Springs, AL, on February 28, 1933, to Joe Lanzy Mitchell Patrick and Willie Mae Douglas Patrick. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 39 years Charles Harvey Cofield, her stepmother, Lucille Patrick Sanders, her mother and father-in-law, Maggie and Harvey Cofield, her granddaughter, Ashley Cofield, four sisters, Alonia Kimbrel, Rosie Ramer, Jeanette Testone, and Joanne Donahue, and one brother Elbert Ray Hendry.

Mrs. Cofield was a resident of the Beulah community for more than 20 years and an active member of Beulah Free Will Baptist Church. She has been a resident of Century, FL, for the last 40 years and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Century and then Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church until her health failed and she was no longer able to attend. For the last couple of years she has been a resident of Century Care Center.

Survivors include her two daughters, Ann Cofield Brooks of Century, FL, and Cathy Cofield (Jeff) Crawley of Century, FL; two sons, Charles Thomas (Pansy) Cofield of Century, FL, and Gordon Wayne (Desta) Cofield of Pensacola, FL; three sisters, Diane (Dickie) Smith of Pensacola, FL, Margie Weed of Mobile, AL, Marilyn Cox of Pensacola, FL; and two brothers, Joe (Brenda) Patrick Jr. of Mobile, AL, and Alton (Debbie) Patrick of Deridder, LA; seven grandchildren, Lynn (Jackie) Carnley; James (Dafna) Brooks, Andy (Lonna) Miles, Jr., Angie (Allen) Williams, David Brooks, Tiffany (Steve) Morris, Beth Brooks (James) Byrd, and Maggie (Bryan) Waters; 20 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
