Verla Mae Wheeler

Verla Mae Wheeler, born April 7, 1923 in Luverne, Alabama to Lawrence and Stella Barrow. Preceded in death by her loving husband of seventy-one years, Clinton Wheeler and her oldest son, C.J. Wheeler. A loving mother and grandmother.

Survived by three children, Lamar Wheeler (Marie), Charlene Richardson (Joe), and Tim Wheeler (Nancy), eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchild, and two great-great-grandchildren.  A woman who audaciously loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus. A prayer warrior who lived with verve and gratitude for her family and friends.  Verla instilled the values of prayer in the lives of her family. Full of grace, she opened her home to all family and friends where they could find a home cooked meal. She took great pride in her home, where she would spend her days outdoors enjoying her passions of gardening, fishing, and taking care of her animals. As she enters the gates of heaven, she will be greatly missed by everyone.

isitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.  Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM.  Interment will be at Cottage Hill Assembly of God Cemetery.

Hugh E. Cleveland

December 2, 2018

Hugh E. Cleveland, 77, of Cantonment FL, passed to his Heavenly Home December 19, 2018. He was born in Elberton, Georgia on October 19, 1941 to the late Hugh and Doris Cleveland.
Hugh served as a Deacon at Plainview Baptist Church in Pensacola. Hugh served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy retiring as Senior Chief in 1980. After his military career Hugh, went on to work at the University of West Florida for next 22 years.

Hugh’s favorite saying to everyone was “Be Nice”. He was the best father and grandfather with the gentlest of hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Hugh and Doris Cleveland.

Hugh is survived by his wife of 38 years; Mary A Cleveland (Precious) three sisters; Pat, Camilia, and Jan, one brother; Tommy, two sons; Mickey (Beverly) and Randy (Susan), one daughter; Cindy (Paul), seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Cascone, Beau Hornsby, Ethan Enfinger, Ethan Hornsby, Paul Cascone, and Scott Enfinger.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Bill Flannigan officiating. Burial will follow in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at 12:00 PM prior to service.

Paul Ray Digmon

November 28, 2018

Paul Ray Digmon, 80 of Atmore, AL, passed away November 27, 2018, in Atmore. He was born on March 19, 1938, in Atmore, AL, to the late Jimmy and Maude Bowman Digmon.

He was a retired cabinet instructor from Jeff Davis Community College in Atmore, AL. He served in the United States Army.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Digmon and Joe Digmon; and sisters, Eula White, Lilly Foster, Dorothy Leroy and Gertrude Ahern.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne Byrd Digmon of Atmore, AL; daughter, Teena (George) Peavy of Lake City, FL; stepson, Butch (Sandy) Lee of Flomaton, AL; and stepdaughter, Pam White of Atmore, AL; sister, Sherry Digmon of Atmore, AL; grandchildren, Daniel White, Ryan Gambel, Kyle Gambel, and Dustin Lee; six great-grandchildren and many family and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 27, 2018, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Butch Lee officiating.

Burial was in Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Daniel White, Ryan Gambel, Kyle Gambel, Luke Brown, Ricky White and Caleb Fullerton.

Fate Welch, Jr.

Fate Welch, Jr., 86, of Brewton, AL, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, in Bay Minette, AL. He was a foreman for a clock factory. He was born on February 20, 1932, in Monroe County, AL to the late Fate and Addie Presley Welch, Sr.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Edna Welch; and brothers, Manford Welch, Tom Welch, Leroy Welch and David Welch.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Ray “Ricki” Welch of Birmingham, AL and Terry Welch of Barrnetts Crossroads, AL; two daughters, Darlene (Duane) Homan of Bay Minette, AL and Charlene (Donald) Odom of Barrnetts Crossroads,AL; three brothers, James (Judy) Welch and Eugene (Bobbi) Welch, both of Bay Minette, AL and Edward (Linda) Welch of Monroeville, AL; three sisters, Lois Saints of Bay Minette, AL, Lilly Mae Welch and Louise (Levi) Thompson, both of Monroeville, AL; three grandchildren, Andrew Odom, Derek Homan and Josh Odom; and great-granddchildren, D.J. Homan and Bridget Homan.

Services will be Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Richburg and Bro. Josh Odom officiating.

Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Odom, Derek Odom, Stephen Welch, Jacob Welch, Sonny Martin and Arthur Odom.

George C. Edwards

November 28, 2018

George C. Edwards, 87 of Pace, FL passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018. He was born on March 25, 1931, in San Francisco, California to the late William V. Edwards and Anna Mae Gunning Edwards. George joined the U. S. Navy on April 1, 1949, serving his country for 25 years. He worked as the service manager for Killinger Marine for 10 years, until opening his own boat hauling business, delivering boats from Key West to Maine to Alaska.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Wise Edwards; parents; and brother, Bill Edwards.

George is survived by his son, Marty (Debbie) Edwards; daughters, Darci Edwards Cobb and Tracy (Mike) Edwards Flota; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his lifelong fishing buddy, Elton Bowling.

A graveside inurnment will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Florida. Procession will leave Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, at noon.

Ms. Sierra Denise Gollotte, age 25, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018, in Mobile, Alabama.

Ms. Gollotte was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Gollotte; uncle, Dwayne Gollotte and maternal grandfather, Paul Walker.

She is survived by her father, Brian K. Gollotte of Mobile, AL; mother, Charlene Denise Walker of Talladega, AL; two sons, Hayden Christopher Gollotte of Mobile, AL and Lynden Gollotte of Mobile, AL; four brothers, Keiden (Kayla) Gollotte of Mobile, AL, Donavon Gollotte of Talladega, AL, Matthew Gollotte of Talladega, AL and Jacob Gollotte of Raleigh, NC; grandfather, Stanford Gollotte of Mobile, AL and maternal grandmother, Mary Faye Walker of Grand Bay, AL.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Trevor Daughtry and Bro. Jerry Sanchez officiating.

Mr. Keith Andrew Lodge, age 54, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018, in Pensacola, Florida.

Mr. Lodge was a native of Century, FL, former resident of Cantonment, FL and had resided in Flomaton, AL for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Bratt First Baptist Church, a 1982 graduate of Tate High School and crane operator with GE of Pensacola.

He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Martha Lodge of Cantonment, FL; wife, Alissa Lodge of Flomaton, AL; two daughters, Megan (Harley) Davis of Century, FL and Colbi (Matthew) Lee of Flomaton, AL; one sister, Cindy Hamlett of Cantonment, FL; four grandchildren, Clayton Davis, Rylee Kendall, Kennan Lee and Blake Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Redditt and Bro. Tim Hawsey officiating.

Burial will follow at the Poplar Dell Cemetery.

Sarah Doris Riley Ard

Sarah Doris Riley Ard, resident of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the age of 89. She was born in Columbia, Mississippi on August 12, 1929, to the late William Nathan Riley and Lucille Spears Riley. Sarah was a member of Pensacola Baptist Temple for almost seventy years. She loved her family, her friends, cooking for all, and caring for the love of her life, Buck Ard.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Buck Ard; parents; daughter, Carol Ard Brown; and her 11 siblings.

Sarah is survived by her four children, Glenn (Carol) Ard, Nancy Ard, Douglas (Elaine), and Jimmy Wayne (Anita) Ard; six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Nathan (Bert) Riley and Grace Rolfs.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Pensacola Baptist Temple with Pastors Glen Anderson and Steve Bruce officiating.

Burial will follow in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Terry Grant Hall

Terry Grant Hall, 78 of Young Harris, GA passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018, in Gainesville, GA. He retired from farming in 1998 and then worked for a few years with the Escambia County Road Department. He was born in Bratt, FL on December 8, 1939, to Ulysses Grant and Mildred Evelyn Langford Hall.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Sarah Ann Dortch Hall.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Ann Davis Hall of Young Harris, GA; one son, Darryl Grant Hall of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Sheila Ann (Ron) O’Farrell of Lake Mary, FL and Pamela Hall (Ron) Wilson of Charlotte, NC; one stepdaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Lewis (Gerry) Steege of Bratt, FL; six grandchildren, Sarah Beth O’Farrell of Lake Mary, FL, Zachary Lamar O’Farrell of Cocoa, FL, Ethan Langford and Greyson Rawls Wilson of Charlotte, NC, Addisyn Rylee and Wyatt Reed Steege of Bratt, FL.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gene King officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Ging Wass

November 25, 2018

Barbara Ann Ging Wass, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 16, 2018. She was born February 17, 1942, in Pensacola, FL.

Forever cherished by her husband, Ed Wass, whom she married on April 24, 1981, and gained five wonderful children, Mark (Dee) Wass, Donna (Jack) Walters, Scott (Beth) Wass, Edie (Malcolm) Nelson, and Davie (Robert) Wass; grandchildren, Tyler, Wade, Lindsey, Daniel, Smokey, Madisen and Stormie; brother, Richard Ging; nieces, Jan (Mark) Thomley, Kristi (Phillip) Muldoon; and great-grandchildren, Tenley and Quinn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Mary Hensel-Ging; and grandson, John Wass.

Barbara retired from Hiles-McLeod Insurance Agency as an agent. Barbara had a passion for and loved traveling, camping and taking cruises with dear friends. Barbara was very active in her grandchildren’s lives and enjoyed watching them grow up playing sports. She was their biggest fan in the stands. She was one ruthless card player and gave the best hugs in the world. Barbara will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be held at noon on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Entombment will follow services in Pensacola Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
