Glenn Ray Taylor of Atmore, AL passed away on November 24, 2020. He was born on July 5, 1944, in Citronelle, AL to the late Robert Claytis and Ruby Jeffers Taylor. After being a lifelong teacher, coach and principal, he retired from the Escambia County Alabama School System.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Janet Howell Taylor; his son, Glenn Allan Daphnelys Taylor of Gainesville, FL; his daughters, Suzanne Taylor (Chad) Helton of Atmore, AL and Mandy Senn (Kris) Simmons of Chattanooga, TN; his sisters, Evonne (Wendell) Beason of Satsuma, AL and Kathy (Bobby) Raines of Saraland, AL; his grandchildren, Taylor, Brett, Chaston, Parker, Grayson, Jace and Primrose and his great-grandchildren, Ella Kate, Maggie and Rhett.
A private family graveside service was held Friday, November 27, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Austin Lee officiating.
Active pallbearers were Chad Helton, Brett Helton, Chaston Helton, Allan Taylor, Kris Simmons and Donnie Faulk.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army.

Fred Reynolds, Jr.

Fred Reynolds, Jr., 67, of Colquitt, Georgia, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 25. A graveside memorial service officiated by the Rev. Andy Merritt will be held at 11 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, November 28, at Gordon Cemetery in Damascus, where he will be laid to rest next to his parents.
Fred Reynolds, Jr., affectionately known as Junior by his family and friends, came into this world in Early County on December 5, 1952, to the late Fred, Sr., and Hattie Mae (Widner) Reynolds. He grew up in the Damascus area and graduated Early County High School Class of 1970.
The earlier part of his adult life was spent in the Albany and Cordele area where he worked with Good Year and Marvair Heating & Air Conditioning. Around 2000, Junior moved back to the Early County and Miller County area, where he lived until departing this world on November 25, 2020, at the age of 67.
Junior loved all things Georgia, especially Georgia Football and the Atlanta Braves, and racing.
He never married or had any children, but he had a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who he spent much time with on weekends when visiting with them and his brothers.
Fred Reynolds, Jr. was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Mae (Widner) Reynolds, and his father, Fred Reynolds, Sr.
He is survived by his brothers, Jimmy Reynolds (Cathy) of Century, Fla., Sidney Reynolds (Debra) of Colquitt, and Tony Reynolds of Donalsonville, and his nephews and nieces, Tony Reynolds, Jr., Jessica Reynolds Newberry, Kara Williams, Cameron Williams, LeAnna Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Laura Reynolds, Lisa Reynolds, Susanne Reynolds and Alexandria Reynolds.
Betty Joyce Nall Freeman

Mrs. Betty Joyce Nall Freeman, age 85, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020, in Jay, Florida.
Mrs. Freeman was a native of Century, FL, former longtime resident of Flomaton and Atmore and had resided in Jay, Florida for the past 8 years. She was a beautician at Eloise’s Beauty Shop for 30 years and a member of the Jay 1st Assembly of God Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Edgar and Frances Nall; son, Randy Freeman; brother, Johnny Nall and sister, Mildred McDonald.
She is survived by two sons, Ronny Freeman of Flomaton, AL and Rick (Doreen) Freeman of Hartselle, AL; nine grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 1:30 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Freeman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pollard Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 11:30 AM until service time at 1:30 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rick Freeman, Ronny Freeman, Ron Freeman, Nigel Freeman, Harley Freeman and DeLuca Green.
Jacob Oryan Bailey

Mr. Jacob Oryan Bailey, age 34, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 in Atmore, Alabama.
Mr. Bailey was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore, AL. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians where he was an active member of HVOSSV TVLLVHVSSE (Ceremonial Grounds). He was a loving husband, devoted father and loved all his family. He was a carpenter, farmer, and a spiritual person. He was a PowWow dancer in grass dance and traditional. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Verlie Bailey; maternal grandfather, Eugene Blackwelder; maternal grandmother, Marie McAnally; uncle, Jerry Bailey and cousin, Joey McGhee.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Liesl O. Bailey of Atmore, AL; one son, Elijah William Bailey of Atmore, AL; two daughters, Kadence Marie Bailey of Atmore, AL and Poarcha Estehulwe Bailey of Atmore, AL; parents, Cheryl and William Bailey, Sr. of Atmore, AL; mother-in-law, Nancy Olkjer of Pensacola, FL; his beloved Pinky Bailey; one brother, Billy (Cheyanne) Bailey of Walnut Hill, FL; nieces and nephews, Kyiah Bailey, Sophia Bailey and Carson Bailey and countless aunts and uncles, Robin & Larry, Kathy & Joe, Cecelia & Rodney, Mackey & Russell, Ruth, Sabrina & David, Donna, Sonja & Rusty, Gary & Christine, and David McGhee.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Restoration Poarch Community Church with Bro. Jerry Sanchez officiating.
Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.

James Gladyn Mothershed

Rev. James Gladyn Mothershed of Atmore, AL passed away on November 23, 2020, and is now at home with his Heavenly Father. He was born on July 16, 1935, in Atmore, AL to the late William Addison and Lila Mae Lambert Mothershed. He was a minister for over 50 years with West Side Baptist Church and later became a member of Mennonite Christian Fellowship in Atmore, AL. He was instrumental in bringing many to know Jesus Christ as
their Lord and Savior.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Dorothy Willene Mothershed Hall, Charles Raymond Mothershed, Eleanor Ernestine Mothershed Davis, Mary Audene Mothershed Sharpless, William Fred Mothershed, Carl Houston Mothershed and W.D. Mothershed.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lancaster Mothershed of Atmore, AL; his daughter, Lisa Mothershed James of FL and his granddaughter, Alyssa McCoy of FL.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 30, 2020, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Blaine Copenhaver officiating.
Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Peggy Jo Hodge

Peggy Jo Hodge, went to her heavenly home on Friday, November 20, 2020, at the age of 85. She was born on October 17, 1935 in Maplesville, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Jack Hodge, one son Aaron Hodge, mother and father, David and Susan Fox, three brothers Lawrence, Benjamin, and Edward Fox.
Peggy was a very loving and compassionate mother. She loved to travel, fish, and bowl, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family. She was the past recipient high scorer award in bowling, and served as past president of the PTA, and volunteer of the year for Molino Elementary School in the 1980’s.
Peggy is survived by her loving children, Susan McCrory (Kenny) Jackie Hodge (Lynn), David Hodge (Vicky), Grandchildren, Naomi, Jeremiah, Jacob, Melissa, Amanda, Derek, Lane, and seven Great Children.
The family wishes to thank TLC Caregivers and Hospice nurse Annabelle for the loving care and compassion for our mother.

Doris Virginia Bowman Coon

Doris Virginia Bowman Coon passed away on November 17, 2020 in Hendersonville, TN. She was born Aug. 1, 1935 to AD and Maggie Mae Nicholson Bowman, grew up in Bogia, graduated from Century High School in 1953 and was a former operator for Southern Bell in Pensacola. Mrs Coon also worked for Monsanto, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Dept, and retired as a rural mail carrier in Century, FL
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, former husbands, Ronald Cannon and Gerald Coon, Sr., son, Randy Cannon, and daughters, Donna and Lisa Coon.
Mrs Coon is survived by her children, John Coon of Birmingham, Nan Gomez of Pensacola, Jeannine Walston of Cantonment, and Gerald Coon, Jr. of Portland, TN, a grandson she raised, Chris Coon, of Cantonment, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sisters, Jacqueline Freisinger of Molino and Faye Silvia of Pensacola, and brother, Wayne Bowman, of Munson.
As Mrs Coon wished, there will be no service. However, her family deeply appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
Rev. Joseph Carlo “Carl” Kelly, Sr.

Rev. Joseph Carlo “Carl” Kelly, Sr., age 69 of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away Saturday afternoon November 21, 2020 at Coosa Valley Alabama Medical Center in Sylacauga Alabama.
Rev. Kelly was born in Century, FL and was raised in the Flomaton/Pollard areas of Alabama. He was a 1969 graduate of Flomaton High School and went on to attend Jeff Davis Jr. College, Troy University, Samford University, and the University of Montevallo, earning multiple Masters Degrees in the education field. He taught in a number of schools during his career and was also a school counselor. He was a driver for “Tiger Transit” at Auburn University where he also served as a mentor in the athletic department. Carl loved music and magic, whether he was serving as a minister of music in a church or performing his “Music and Magic with a Message” in schools, churches and other venues. He also loved doing volunteer mission work. He was a member of Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church, where he served as Pastor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Grover Kelly, Jr. and Ernestine Trawick Kelly.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 36 years, Debbie Kelly of Alabaster, AL; son, Joseph Carlo “Jody” Kelly, Jr. of Kaneohe, HI; daughter, Lindsey (Quon) Johnson of Maylene, AL; brother, Henry (Stephanie) Kelly of Bay Minette, AL; sister, Lou Wanda Smith of Daphne, AL; grandson, Owen Johnson, soon to be joined by a granddaughter, Madelyn Ruth Johnson; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Keel and Bro. Henry Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Pollard Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at 10:00 A.M.

Carlton Prescott Sharpless, age 94, passed away on November 22, 2020. He was born on July 18, 1926 in Atmore, AL to the late Jackson Lafayette and Thelma Viola Bratcher Sharpless. He served in The United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audene Mothershed Sharpless; his sisters, Waldine Sharpless Argroves and Joyce Sharpless Hogg.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Weaver Mills Sharpless; his son, Phillip (Sandy) Sharpless of Hattiesburg, MS; his daughter, Connie Sharpless of Pensacola, FL; his brothers, Jack (Betty) Sharpless of Robinsonville, AL and Ronnie (Margaret) Sharpless of Gautier, MS; his sisters, Carolyn Sharpless Smith of Atmore, AL, Lynn Sharpless Fralick of Walnut Hill, FL and Brenda Sharpless (David) Cruce of Loganville, GA and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Monica Suzanne Oglesby, 31, of Cantonment, Florida, was given her wings on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
She was born on October 24, 1989 in Dayton, Ohio.
Monica was a very loving and compassionate mother. She love to go to the beach, the river, playing bingo, and spending time with her two sons. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up the room.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Tommy L. Hennessey; cousin, Anna Oglesby; grandparents Tommy Oglesby, Greg Domijan, and Ronnie and Sue Lambeth.
