Lawrence Creighton Amerson

Lawrence Creighton Amerson, Jr. 94 years old, known as L.C. or Ame to his friends and family, passed away on July 15, 2020 in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born January 17, 1926 to Lawrence and Dollie Amerson in Jackson, AL. He was one of fourteen children. The family moved to Bratt, FL, where he attended school. At the age of 19, he went into the Navy.
He was in World War II while serving aboard USS Mugford along with three other ships. During this time, his oldest brother was serving on another ship. He played basketball with the Amphibious Force, US Atlantic Fleet Team. They received several awards and medals. After serving 20 years, he began working for the Norfolk Navy Yard. He received many awards from the Mayor of Virginia Beach for his service to the group delivering medical supplies and food to the shut-ins.
He met his wife Thelma and shared over 44 years together. He loved fishing and enjoyed time with his family especially at the Bratt, FL reunions.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his parents, Lawrence and Dollie Amerson; twelve of his siblings and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; two special friends, Tiny Rigby Bolton and Jenny Rigby and his baby sister, Shirley Amerson Whatley of Bratt, FL.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.

Laura Sue Summers

Laura Sue Summers, age 82, passed away Wednesday, 10-1-20, at 3:30 am. She was born on March 16, 1938, in Tamms, Illinois to Paul Miller and Lillian Chester Miller.
Mrs. Summers grew up in Murphysboro, Illinois, and graduated from Murphysboro Township High School. She attended Pensacola Jr. College. She and her husband, Arthur Summers, were married 49 years and raised two children. She was a woman of faith and ministered at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Pensacola for 46 years.
She was preceded in death by both parents; four brothers, James Allen, Dale Edward, Paul Edward, Paul Eugene, Preston Drew Miller; and one daughter-in-law, Margie Robertson.
Laura is survived by her husband, Arthur Summers; sons, William and Timothy Robertson (Kathy); 3 grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen, and Sarah Robertson and 4 great grandchildren, Carter, Lucas, Ronan, and Em.
Funeral services will be Wednesday (10-7-20) at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 800 East Nine Mile Road, with visitation at 11 AM – 12 PM and service at 12 noon, and burial at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2 PM.
Theresa Marie Diamond

Theresa Marie Diamond (nee Raines) passed away on Thursday, October 1st, 2020, at the age of 90. Known as “Honey” by her family, Theresa was born on January 20th, 1930, in Frisco City, AL, to Burley and Mary (Tatum) Raines. In 1947, she married Cecil Cleveland Diamond, and they raised three sons: Mike, Gary, and Robin.
Theresa’s first job was at the Pensacola Public Library when it was located in Old Christ Church, and she spent most of her professional life at Monsanto and retired from the company after 32 years. Theresa was a “jill of all trades,” gifted in many crafting arts: she was a talented seamstress, cake decorator, doll maker, and painter. She made dresses for her granddaughters for special occasions; painted, styled, and assembled porcelain dolls; and decorated cakes for many of her loved ones’ birthdays and weddings. It was rare to enter Theresa’s kitchen and not find a vanilla pound cake on the counter! She enjoyed painting porcelain figurines with her grandchildren and fired the porcelain pieces in her home kiln. Theresa was a long-time member of both Woodlawn and Circle Baptist Churches, where Cecil served as music director and Theresa sang in the choir. For the last ten years, Theresa has been a resident of the Life Care Center, where she had many friends and enjoyed crafting, ice cream socials, and playing Bingo. More than anything, Theresa loved her family, delighting in her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who equally loved their Honey.
Theresa is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil; her brothers, Burley Jr. and Thurmon; and her son, Mike. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Terrie) and Robin; eight grandchildren, Michael (Christina), Keeley (Chris), Angela (Eeon), Jenny (Lindsay), Chris (Mam), Joni (Matt), Max, and Rita; and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Diamond will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020, at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home (1000 S. Hwy. 29, Cantonment, FL 32533), with the Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. Theresa’s Diamond’s nephew Larry Raines, will officiate the service. Interment will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens following the service.
The family wishes to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors at the Life Care Center, as well as Theresa’s roommate and dear friend, Janice Montgomery.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family asks that visitors wear face coverings and maintain social distancing.
Stephen Craig “Steve” Hetrick

Stephen Craig “Steve” Hetrick, age 58, of Valparaiso, FL passed away on September 29, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 31, 1962 in Columbus, OH to Richard D. and Sherry Jenkins Hetrick. He was employed at Eglin Air Force Base as a Cyber Security Administrator Contractor and was an avid fisherman and Alabama football fan.
Preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Hetrick. He is survived by his mother, Sherry A. Hetrick of Atmore, AL; his wife, Becky Hetrick; his son, Stephen Joe (Ashleigh) Hetrick of Austin, TX; his brothers, Richard (Alicia) Hetrick of Brewton, AL, Jeff (Carla) Hetrick of Las Cruces, NM, Joey (Connie) Hetrick of Bratt, FL and Christian (Mollie) Hetrick of Florence, AL and his grandchildren, Declan, Lilly and Simon.
Funeral service will be held Monday, October 5, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL.
Pallbearers will be Richard Hetrick, Jeff Hetrick, Joey Hetrick, Christian Hetrick, Brandon Hetrick and Justin Hetrick.
Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Jerry Bence Hayes

Mr. Jerry Bence Hayes, age 67, of Century, FL, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Century Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Hayes was born in Century, FL, and had been a resident of Century his lifetime. During his working years, he worked at the Century Correctional Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. He was a member of Byrneville United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Owen and Aleece Stuckey Hayes, and his wife, Karen Medlock Hayes.
He is survived by his step-mother, Marilyn Hayes of Brewton, AL; son, Jesse (Haley) Hayes of Batesville, MS; daughter, Stephanie (Justin) Bosewell of Greenville, NC; sister, Joy (Danny) Findley of Byrneville, FL; grandchildren, Preston Owen Hayes and Sadie Aleece Bosewell.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 11 AM at Byrneville United Methodist Cemetery in Byrneville, FL.

Mrs. Donna Treadwell Mims, age 72, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, FL.
Mrs. Mims was a native of Bonifay, FL, and had been a resident of Pensacola for 54 years coming from Bonifay. She was retired from the Department of Children and Family Services as a social worker and later as a supervisor. Mrs. Mims enjoyed sailing, camping and working in her yard and was preceded in death by her parents, Donnie and Margaret Treadwell, and her sister, Gloria Pipkin.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ron Turner and her brother, Dwight Treadwell, both of Pensacola, FL.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Carla Rena Crichton Garcia

Carla Rena Crichton Garcia, 41, was born November 10, 1978, in Pensacola, Florida. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
Carla received her high school diploma in the Adult High Education Program at Pensacola Junior College and went on to get her LPN degree from Virginia College. She enjoyed writing, drawing, and journaling. Her daughter, Carmen, fondly remembers her journaling in her Bible. Growing up around her Pa’s farm, she had a love for animals. She had a way with every kind of animal and could catch that stray chicken that no one else seemed to be able to! Taking in the runt, the hurt, or the sick animal, she had a heart for taking care of each one.
Carla is proceeded in death by her father, Jeffery Crichton; her Pa, W. A. Weaver; and her uncle, Jimmie Weaver.
She is survived by her daughter and whole world, Carmen Garcia; mother, Bobbie Crichton; brother, Eric Crichton; nephew Cole Crichton; nana, June Weaver; and a host of other family.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Calhoun officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the Memorial Service begins.

Sheree Ann Gill

Mrs. Sheree Ann Gill, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at her home in Atmore, Alabama.
Mrs. Gill was a native of Ozona, TX and had resided in Atmore, AL for the past 31 years. She was loving wife, who cared for everybody and was a member of at the Atmore Kingdom Hall. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Gates and parents, Carl and Becky Gill.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bobby Gates of Atmore, AL; one son, Roland Flanadan of Ozona, TX; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Chase officiating.
Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dylan Johnson, Billy Gates, Keith Rackard, Rodney Rackard, Jon Terry and Luis Briones.

Patricia Claudine Powers

Mrs. Patricia Claudine Powers, age 60, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at her home in Nokomis, Alabama.
Mrs. Powers was a native of Austin, Texas and had resided in Nokomis, Alabama for the past 20 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt and she was of the Methodist Faith.
She is survived by her two sons, Jackie (Betty) Powers, Jr. of Milton, FL and Oscar Powers of Nokomis, AL; one daughter, Patricia Ann Powers (Charles Rice, Jr.) of Nokomis, AL; one sister, Cynthia Ruth Landrum of Nokomis, AL; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Justin Ullrich.
Burial will follow at the Jay Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jackie D. Powers, Jr., Oscar L. Powers, Kevin Slack, Cody Evans, Aubrey Weaver and Clarence R. Powers.
Honorary pallbearer will be Loyd Brazwell.

Arline Roberta Bones

Arline Roberta Bones passed away on the morning of September 29, 2020 at the age of 97. She was born in North Little Rock, AR in 1922.
She was a long time resident of Gurdon, AR where she was married to Warren D. Bones. She had one daughter, Nancy J. Hargrave of Cantonment, FL
and two grandsons, Paul M. Hargrave of Sarasota, FL and Mark J. Hargrave.
She was a lifelong member of the Beech Street Baptist Church of Gurdon. Arline had been living in Florida with her daughter and son-in-law at the time of her death.
Graveside services for Arline will be held at the Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Beech Street Baptist Church of Gurdon.
