Louise Woods Jernigan

Louise Woods Jernigan, 89, received her heavenly crown on August 23, 2021. Louise was born on January 13, 1932 to George and Ollie Mae (Payne) Woods in Atmore, Alabama and was one of 12 siblings.
Louise married Glen Jernigan, her husband of 65 years on January 10, 1948. Together they built a successful business in the retail gasoline industry operating dozens of locations in Northwest Florida and Southern Alabama. In addition to being a caregiver and business partner to Glen, Louise found her greatest joy being a mother to her two daughters and then a proud and loving Nanny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, cooking and serving delicious meals. Louise loved the Lord and served Him faithfully both in her church and in the community.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Glen, her parents, and her siblings: William Alfred Woods, Otis Woods, Ruby Lee Lambert, Estelle Parker, Edward Woods, Anne Dunne, Mary Willis, Gladys Petrantis, Thelma Sierra, and Hazel Mason.

Louise is survived by her daughters Cindy (Dirk) Lundquist and Cathy (Bobby) Payne; grandchildren Layla (Wes) Lundquist- Smith, Brandon (Crystal) Payne, Megan (Drew) Ard; great grandchildren Atakelt and Evangeline Smith, Savannah Payne, and Christian, Riley Ann and Greyson Ard; one sister, Freddie (Gaines) Pezent as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Charline Wetzel, the Memory Care staff of The Blake of Pensacola, Adam and Mandy at Emerald Coast Hospice, and Deneen Rowan.

The family will greet friends at Faith Chapel North from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday, August 29, 2021 with a service to begin at 2pm. Pastor Jeff McKee of Victory Assembly of God will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Cemetery.

Hazel McGhee Albritton

August 24, 2021

Mrs. Hazel McGhee Albritton, age 74, passed away, August 21, 2021 in Nokomis, AL. She was a lifelong resident of Atmore, AL. She worked several years at the Atmore Nursing Center as a dietary aide. She was a member of Gospel Light Chapel. She was a proud member of Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Mrs. Albritton enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking for family. She enjoyed going to the annual Pow Wow. Her grandchildren were the focus of her life and kept her going.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Norvie Lee McGhee and Mrs. Gladys Presley McGhee, husband, Lenard Albritton Jr., three brothers, Early McGhee, Norvie Lee McGhee Jr; Cecil McGhee, two sisters, Louise Turner, Betty Jane McVey, and granddaughter, Jordan Albritton.

She is survived by her two sons, Tim Albritton (Bethany) of Nokomis, AL; Olan Albritton (Geri Lynn) of Nokomis, AL; one daughter, Terri Breckenridge (Terrence) of Nokomis, AL; three brothers, Douglas McGhee, of Spanish Fort, AL; Ronnie McGhee, of Nokomis, AL; Huey McGhee, of Zion, Il; one sister, Eloise Ramer, of Gasden, AL; ten grandchildren, Logan, Hunter, Lylia, Addison, Silas, Drew, Chloe’, Temple, Sophia, Shepard, five great- grandchildren, Avaiha, Zadyn, Chasyn, Rylan, Oan, special niece, Christine Ward, special nephew, Michael McGhee, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Ray Ward officiating.

Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy McGhee, Michael McGhee, Matthew McGhee, Clint Ramer, Eddie Ramer, and Brian McGhee.

W. Edward Godwin

August 23, 2021

W. Edward Godwin, a resident of Century, FL, passed away on August 20, 2021, at the age of 79.

He was born on June 17, 1942, to the late Wilbourn J. Godwin and Amanda Ziglar Godwin.

Edward was a member and deacon at Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Web Godwin, sister, Christine Creel, and first wife Diane Godwin.

Edward is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gladys Sharee Strickland Godwin; children, Keith (Barbara) Cauley, Lynn (Greg) Mills, Leah (Doug) Vickery, Darla (Jeff) Brantley and Kiley (Michelle) Godwin; 12 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren with one on the way.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, FL.

Pallbearers will be Lee Cauley, Bradley Dortch, Tripp Vickery, Cade Vickery, Zeb Vickery, Luke Brantley and Robert Fuchsen.

Memorials may be made to Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

Kathryn Abramovich Hicks

Kathryn Abramovich Hicks, 88 of McDavid, FL passed away August 20, 2021 in McDavid. She was born in Perdido, AL on December 2, 1932 to the late Rudolph and Viola Vidak Abramovich. She was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church in Bogia, FL and was a retired RN with over 33 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Hicks of McDavid, FL; two children, Bro. Ed (Valerie) Hicks of Molino, FL and Rhonda (Brian) Bruley of Atmore, AL; four grandchildren, Ben, Charity, David, Nathan and six great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 23, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment will follow at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 23, 2021 from 2 pm until 3 pm at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Denise Renee Pace

Mrs. Denise Renee Pace, passed away August 21, 2021 at age of 56. She born in Asheville, North Carolina, but has lived most, of her life in the Century, FL. area. She was an avid Florida State Seminole fan. She valued her time she got to spend with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She always enjoyed the outdoor cookouts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Jack Banks and Mrs. Mary Lee Connors Banks, husband, Steve Pace, one brother, Duane Banks.

She is survived by her two sons, Steven Pace (Amie) of Molino, FL; Rannon Pace (Marisah) of Century, FL; one daughter, Rachel Pace (Ronnie Holt) of Cantonment, FL; eight grandchildren, Kaleb, Bella, Harper, Skyla, Ean, Siobaun, Logan, and Braelyn, nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Petty- Eastside Chapel funeral Home LLC with Bro. Reo Pugh officiating.

Burial will follow at Hollingsworth Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday August 25, 2021 from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at the Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Otis Carlton Stanley

August 23, 2021

Otis Carlton Stanley passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, in Pensacola, FL. He was born August 6, 1933, in Doniphan, MO, to Grover and Ava Stanley. Otis enlisted in the Navy in 1957 and retired in 1976. He continued to serve as a contractor with the Army until 1998, when he relocated to Pensacola to enjoy retirement.

Otis enjoyed taking friends and family to see the Blue Angels and visiting the Pensacola Naval Air Museum, where he volunteered.

Otis is survived by his wife, Glynnell Stanley, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 3:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Chaplain David Gibson will be officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Bruce Ladon Smith

Bruce Ladon Smith, 70 of Atmore, AL. passed away August 20, 2021 in Atmore. He was born on November 27, 1950 to the late Bruce and Carolyn Sharpless Smith in Atmore. He attended McRae United Methodist Church in Atmore and is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Smith owned and operated many pawn shops through the years.

He is survived by his son Scotty (Dodi) Smith of Atmore and daughter Kelly (Curt) Houston of Foley, AL; sister Anita Mancil of Atmore, AL; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Miller Cemetery in Little Rock, AL. with Bro. Ed Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 10 AM until 11 AM at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Ervin Berry

August 22, 2021

Ervin Berry, 69 of Davisville, FL. passed away August 14, 2021. He was born on July 17, 1952 in Montgomery, AL. to the late Colon H. and Gwnette Wilkins Berry.

He worked for Frontier Communications for 33 years and was currently employed with the City of Atmore as an engineer.

He was preceded in death his parents and his brother Everett Berry. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his children Craig Berry of Flomaton, AL; Lindsay Rebecca Berry (Craig Watson) of Flomaton, AL; Jennifer Janell (Wesley) Butts of Louisville, TN. Grandchildren Colby, Kaitlin, Jackson, Natalee, Bailey, Preston, Brandon; two great grandchildren Luke, Liam and many family and friends.

A private inurnment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Ernest Lloyd Barrow

Mr. Ernest Lloyd Barrow, age 93 of East Hecker Road in Century, passed away Friday August 20, 2021 in a local nursing facility. Mr. Barrow was a native of Byrneville, FL and a life resident of the Century area. He retired from St Regis paper company with 44 years of service and was a graduate of Century High School Class of 1946. Mr. Barrow was a United States Army veteran, member of the Century Lions Club for 40 years and charter member of the Century Historical society. In 2008 he received the outstanding citizen award. In 2012, the Lloyd Barrow ball park was named in his honor. He attended Century First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Mike (Kaye) Barrow of Mobile, Don Barrow of Tallahassee, FL, Ronnie (Sherree) Barrow of Bratt, FL; daughter, Brenda (Eddie) Dunsford of Century; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Ernest Lloyd Barrow will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Brother David Boyd officiating.

Sterlon Eugene Scott

Mr. Sterlon Eugene Scott, age 82 of State Line road in Flomaton, passed away Friday August 20, 2021 in a Pensacola, Florida hospice facility. Mr. Scott was a native of Chumuckla, Florida and life long resident of the Flomaton area. He previously worked at Jay Hospital in the maintenance department and attended the First Baptist Church of Flomaton. Mr. Scott was a United States Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Nettie Wilson Scott of Flomaton; brother, Randel Scott of Silver Springs, FL; sister, Grace McConnaughey of Port Orchard, Washington; three nephews, Danny Scott of Lake Wales, FL, Randy McConnaughey of Phoenix, AZ, and Rick McConnaughey of Tuscon, AZ.

Preceded by his parents, Z.Z. Scott and Vera Minnitti; brother, Daniel Scott; nephew, Glenn Scott. A private graveside funeral services for Mr. Sterlon Eugene Scott will be held Sunday afternoon August 22, 2021 at 2pm at the Jay Cemetery with Brother Bill Pritchett and Dr. Tim Tew officiating.

Pallbearers will be Troy Graham, A.J. Graham, Jim McCutchin, Cesar Gonzalez, Andy Henderson, and Larry Smith.
