Phones in hand all day. Tate HS/Roberts intersection has head on traffic for about 40 feet. Traffic signals over the road with no power ( technically a stop sign).

No striping. Trashy. Sad. CWR is trash.

It’s hard to understand why road construction projects in Pensacola seem to take so long to complete. Look at Sorrento Road, Gulf Beach Highway, and West Roberts Road. These projects seem to drag on for months and, in some cases, years, creating unnecessary congestion, frustration, and disruption for residents and businesses.

At some point, we need to ask whether the problem is simply funding and project complexity—or whether we are choosing construction companies that aren’t capable of completing these projects efficiently. Are contractors being held accountable for schedules, delays, and productivity? And are we doing enough to make sure the companies awarded these contracts have a proven record of delivering projects on time?

Residents shouldn’t have to accept endless construction as the normal cost of doing business. Pensacola needs better planning, stronger contractor accountability, and a serious examination of whether we’re getting the performance we’re paying for.

Absolutely absurd how long this has taken. Completely unimpressed by the work of the company who is handling it and for the county (whomever) for not holding them to a better standard. Completely unacceptable.

Well it would help, if the workers that are just standing there would move the cones
When we are trying to get home, instead of just standing there looking at us!!

DK, my wife and I have reached out to our commissioner, Steven Barry, multiple times and we have not received anything back from him or his office. I wasn’t even concerned with how long it was taking, I just invited him to come to West Roberts and physically see how unsafe the conditions are. It’s obvious to me that he doesn’t care, because my wife and I are not the only ones to reach out, I know some of my neighbors have also emailed him. If he doesn’t have time to address a public safety concern, I don’t think I’ll have time to vote for him when his seat comes up.

This is a shame. No oversight. No requirement to finish in a timely manner. NO accountability. Just a shame. The other roads, 10 mile and 9 1/2 mile are getting worn out while being overused during this ridiculously slow paving project.
This literally the definition of poor management of county tax dollars.

Thank you for the update. I look forward to your next update where you tell us that the opening will be pushed back another week. Good ole Escambia County for ya. Hopefully no one is seriously hurt driving down West Roberts while they continue to push back the opening date. It’s a fun little game you have us all playing. Driving down West Roberts and praying you aren’t going to get hit head on. The flag men, when on site, are usually sitting in a vehicle and don’t even acknowledge you. Most of the time, there’s no flag men. We just turn onto West Roberts, talk to the lord for a minute, and keep a close eye on what ditch we plan to drive into when we have a car coming at us head on. It’s ridiculous Escambia County and CWR. You guys really need to get your stuff together. As many people as you see standing around on their phone or sitting in their trucks, you’d think the one thing they could figure out is safety.

Why don't they just say: "we don't know when the lanes will open" instead of setting deadlines that they can't meet? Weather permitting? No real chance of rain this week. Construction coordination? What the heck is this even mean? Just another out for why can't get the job done? If you can't get your construction coordinated, maybe you shouldn't be doing construction in the first place. Escambia County said "we appreciate drivers patience so workers can work efficiently ". Efficiently is not in CWR or and other roadworks companies vocabulary. And exactly who said it? Steven Barry? Someone else? Not like drivers have any other option but to wait "patiently ". I believe that if the county would fine these companies for missing deadlines, I'd bet the work would be completed much more efficiently and construction would be much more coordinated.
