They have had 40 years to appeal, introduce any unconsidered evidence, and to get themselves right with God. The state has an obligation to law-abiding citizens to fulfill the charge given them by the people via the courts. We see more and more younger people committing horrible crime, without regret. I think many have the attitude that "even if I get caught, they won't convict, and if they convict, it'll be light, and if it isn't, I'll find a way out of it". Ground out their life in a prison cell and get the easy way out. I use to think get rid of them quick. But then that would not give any earthly punishment. I say death penalty is just but the delay in administrating the penalty is far too long and unfair to the victims' families. 20, 30, or more years of appeals is ridiculous and a waste of taxpayer money.
