This young man is my best friend’s little brother. He was the sweetest young man you could ever meet. We would literally do anything for anyone. And before anyone comments anything mean he just barely was 20 years old. Younger people don’t think about things like older people do. You don’t know if he had his seatbelt on and took it off as he was about to crash to get out of the way. No one knows. #LLL

Fines have little effect on voluntary compliance with traffic laws. Active enforcement efforts is the only thing that works. Unfortunately the Florida Highway Patrol has lost a third of their staff over the last 25 years. The Florida Legislature has not funded any new State Trooper positions in 25 years. This comes as registered vehicles and drivers in the state has neatly tripled in the same time frame.

It’s just sad all the way around. The biggest thing is seatbelts. It won’t save you all the time, but it will all the time increase your odds of surviving a wreck like this. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Yeah seatbelts would help. But it all starts at being a safer driver. Stop being so reckless.

Maybe they need to up the cost of not wearing a seatbelt. Drivers will be made aware of the huge fine and large points against their license. Still, so much less than the cost of a tragedy like this.

Such a tragedy. Way too young to die from not wearing a seat belt… I feel so bad for mom and dad .. grandpa and granny. Everyone … I’m lost for words .. please people wear your seat belts please . They may be uncomfortable and all but at least they can save your life … once again I’m so sorry for the family ..
