Eric can only do so much with what he has. Plus, he lives up here, too. He knows the deal.

Eddie knows, too. His Mom got hurt and he’s emotional about it. That’s understandable.

But:

The call volume is downtown. We are so far out, with the nearest ER in Jay or Atmore, it amazing our calls don’t end more tragically, really.

From my house: 30 mins to Jay, 20 mins to Atmore, 40-60 mins to Baptist on Nine Mile. That’s excluding response times, too.

You want 15 min response, move to within 15 mins of a trauma center.

Thanks to volunteer firemen and to the EMS crews that they are able to keep up at all.

I ride by McDavid fire department several times during the day. Nine times out of ten there is an ambulance out front ready to go!! As far at the VFF i can name 8 of the 10 right now. Sounds like Mr Hammonds is making statements without gathering his facts first!

Well off maybe you are right but there is ti.es that there is no response and times other departments is first in at a scene no excuse for this

Ray means well but I trust Eric.

No ambulance is available for other calls when already running a call. Even if Century paid an outfitted ambulance and crew for $1.3 million per year, they would still be tied up the first time needed.

Would have like to have known about the meeting. Would have attended and had something to say. I have had to wait an hour for an ambulance, we are not on Highway 29 on Highway 97. Thank goodness for Newman’s Ambulance which I have ridden in twice this year.
