All I wanted was to pull in, get some gas, and be on my way. Instead I’m navigating cones, fences, and blocked pumps like I’m competing in an obstacle course. I half expect someone to hand me a helmet and a map at this point. My daily routine used to take five minutes. Now it takes long enough for me to reflect on my life choices, my grocery list, and at least two sermon ideas. I’m sure the new store will be nice when it’s done—but until then, if anyone needs me, I’ll be circling the parking lot, praying for an open pump and the strength to keep my coffee from getting cold.
