Another reason to avoid downtown. Find overpriced parking, walk several blocks to an overpriced restaurant serving mediocre food or a bar with insufficient accommodations and overly-loud “music”. Downtown will belong to the lawyers, the twenty-somethings, the drug crowd and the homless.

So, if we are not able to drive on Palafox, how will it be able to still have the MLK day parade in that section between Garden and Main? MLK parade follows same route as Christmas parade. If the roadway is closed for vehicles = no floats. If no floats or vehicles, shouldn’t be allowed to march down the roadway either. Maybe the kids REQUIRED to attend this volunteer parade won’t have to after all.

This project is not for aesthetics only! The main reason it HAS TO BE DONE is to replace antiquated pipes and sewer systems that must be replaced, but we’re all griping about their choice for what the cityscapes will look like afterwards. We sound like backward hicks complaining about money. What? Should they return it to exactly the same state as before, or can we use this opportunity to make it look even nicer?

Palafox should be pedestrian only. It is for strolling through and enjoying food and drinks. You may park nearby and walk there and completely enjoy yourself without worrying about being hit by some angry driver. So, for maybe the first time ever, BigBlock is correct, the goal is to enjoy Palafox without fear of being maimed, and it should be pedestrian only.
