Folks there’s been many grocery stores that have come and gone in Escambia County, including A&P, Albertsons, Barnes, Delchamps, Food World, Jitney Jungle, Pleezing, IGA to name a few. I miss Delchamps but I moved on.

This is so disgusting! You can’t buy your groceries at Aldi. It is only good to run in and get a few quick things… if they have them. It is just a glorified convenience store. I’ve been shopping at Winn Dixie since I was in high school. We need a Rouses or Piggly Wiggley like they have in Chumuckla. I don’t buy meat at Walmart or Publix.

No Aldi for me, went to the one on 9 mile rd, one time, no more. I live a mile from Winn Dixie, so convenient, Will go to Publix or Walmart now. Why mess up a good thing.

@ ViP and a few others. I too wish there a Rouses Market around here too!! As for an Aldi, I will Grocery Advantage and Walmart will get more customers. Why in the world would you pay 25 cent (even if you get it back) for a shopping cart?!! Good luck Cantonment

I thought Aldi’s was going to leave our Winn Dixie alone.
Why does a company have to change something that’s working in the area?
Winn Dixie is always full and has a great selection of items. I REFUSE to shop at an Aldi’s.
Grocery Advantage, Public, and Walmart Neighborhood are going to get my business!!

There are already 2 Aldi’s nearby – why do we need another? Aldi stores are sterile soul less Euro stores that although the prices are decent, everything is prepackaged and processed and there are not alternative brand choices. Their will be no consideration to all of the southern staples that we love, No fried chicken. No fresh meats. No cajun foods, bbq sauces, grilling supplies, spice selections, okra, large beer and wine selection in case sizes, bakery, cuban bread, blue runner beans, tons of smoked sausage varieties – even scrapple. we will truly miss Winn Dixie, I will never step foot in this Aldi.

I love Aldi! First off, you don’t pay for a shopping cart. You unlock the cart with a quarter and get your quarter back once you return the cart. This is one of the many ways they keep prices low. Their cheeses are amazing and so reasonable in price. Most are imported from delicious countries known for their cheeses. Their wine prices are also amazing. Aldi keeps a stock of the most popular items on the shelves always and they rotate other items in weekly. For those on a budget, Aldi is the ONLY grocery store I know that discounts their food before it expires. The prices are already low, but 1-3 days before the meat expires the manager marks it 50% off. My freezer is full of frozen hamburger, chicken, steak and fish that I have been able to vacuum seal at rock bottom prices. They will also take money off the salad mixes and bakery items as well. Yes, you might have to visit a competitor if you need a very specific item…maybe water chestnuts, but you will find most ingredients to make a healthy meal and you might find something special on sale you never imagined. I have 2 pair of rubber rain boots still in the box that were on clearance for 97 cents at the Aldi on 9 mile road. Bring a quarter, your own reusable bags, and an open mind. I guarantee that once word gets out, the parking lot will be just as busy as WD.

Aldi is a good store. People are just used to going to WD. I prefer to save money. What I can’t get at Aldi, I pick up at Walmart. It does cost a quarter for the cart but you get it back. It saves from having carts all over the parking lot.
