We just rent our homes, paid for or not, from the state. This rent is based on an arbitrary value, causing us to pay taxes on unrealized gains. Hopefully, the FL legislature will eliminate property taxes on homestead properties. @Susan-already contemplating it.

What do you think, five years and people start moving north? My house is under 15k feet on a 50ft wide lot, and this year my taxes are almost 6k. I had 100 ft of protected waterfront and 2800 ft home in Santa Rosa county and when I moved to this city the taxes were already 1500k more a year. Escambia should cut the budget instead of making us cut ours. How long will it be before home owners insurance and Escambia’s overly high property taxes, put mortgage payments out of reach.
