@Ad Infinitum,

I was with you until you said to make it 55 through Molino and 45 at intersections. All that does is make people switch over to the old Highway, which has too much traffic already. That’s why they put Hwy 29 straight through. Sending all the traffic that doesn’t want to speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down over to Palafox will just cause a lot more accidents on that side of “town” than if you had just left it alone.

Continually changing speed limits and adding traffic lights altering the flows of traffic may seem good on paper some how but in reality they cause more of a hindrance on the people who use these areas daily and put them in situations to adjust their daily lives to fit a failed decision someone made and enforced on them. The main thing it will do is give new areas to ticket people and in no way make the area safer... There are so many adjustments the engineers do on these highways just to ensure they have a future and justify their position while having negative financial impacts on our area. Just my opinion but how long do we have to keep changing things to suit the people that can't keep up while holding the majority that do just fine back? If laws worked there wouldn't be criminals so the logic doesn't work to change everything and all of our prayers will be answered.

I'm so tired of the knee jerk peanut gallery weighing in on their "expert" opinion regarding red lights. If there's a wreck (especially at 29 & 97) you can count on the brigade to trot out their opinions based on the way things were 30 years ago.

Development is on top of us. Traffic is up. People are less observant of driving conditions than in the past. It's reality. If you insist on believing that the old ways work now, you are wrong.

Install a red light at Hwy 29 and Hwy 196. Reduce the speed through Molino on Hwy 29 to 55, 45 at intersections. You're never going to eliminate accidents, but you can limit them using your dang head for something more than a hat rack.

@Chuck & @Voices,

When lightning strikes a tree branch and it falls on your car, that's an accident. These are collisions caused by negligence on the part of one or both drivers. Let's stop giving these poor drivers a pass by describing their negligence as an "accident".

The Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law is primarily found in Florida Statute Chapter 316. If EVERYONE would sit down and review these laws, I bet there would be fewer incidents.

Accidents happen, yes. But the sloppy, careless, reckless driver is what much of the problem centers around.

I have no idea how this accident happened. I do know that many drivers simply proceed when their red light turns green without clearing the intersection. YES, look left right left just as if you were at a stop sign. Just like you were taught in drivers Ed. I’m amazed when I ride with friends or relatives when they get to a red light. Many immediately start to text while frequently peeking up to make sure the light hasn’t turned green. As soon as light turns, they hit the gas without looking to see if someone else who is probably texting as well is running the adjacent red light. Everyone reading this and teach your kids as well, “CLEAR EVERY INTERSECTION!!!!” The next time you’re a passenger, observe the driver next to you especially when first in line at a red light. I’ve done this many times when my wife is driving. Those drivers simply proceed when the light turns green. Thinking it’s green I’ve got the right of way. Takes just a couple seconds to look around or risk losing you and your families lives.

I was coming across from 95A the other day and an 18 wheeler was going to turn towards century and ass I went across he turned in front of me and I had to slam on brakes or I would have hit the tail end of the trailer.. he also had the nerve to wave at me as he was turning

Here's a great idea, they should put a red light there. That will solve all the issues. I been traveling through this intersection daily for almost 15 years when it was a flashing yellow on the hwy29 sides. I'm not sure incidents have been any less since it was changed to a stop light. The intersection, the traffic control device are not the issue. DRIVERS ARE the issue. Only thing needed is people to pay attention. Hope for a speedy recovery for all involved.
