97 needs to be widened. High speeds are a problem but not the main issue. I drive on 97 every day. I have had people cross the center line maybe 5 times in the last 8 years. Twice I avoided a head on collision, one time having to run off the road. People are distacted, probably playing with their phones. Passing around corners and over hills I see all the time. People take so many risks on that road. Widening 97 would probably help. 4 lanes would definitely help a lot.

I grew up over there in the 90’s and the road is not the problem. The traffic has quadrupled since the casino was built. Also, everyone ask the cops to come do enforcement but then complain that cops are writing tickets to everyone. I fully endorse the ticket writing but that level of enforcement needs to be strongly backed and supported by the community.

97 since the casino AND nothing against the casino-I am a frequent goer—BUT it has always been the open road wind in your hair type speeding and MOST of all open road type thinking KNOWING they probably won’t get a ticket mentality
