Crossing gates or not, we asked for the right to cross railroad property at every crossing. The train has 5 warning devices to alert drivers including the headlight, flashing ditch lights, bell, horn, marker lights not to mention the r/r sign 300 ft from the crossing, the rxr white marking on the asphalt roadway and then the crossing gates. Just remember, the engineer and conductor will live with this scene in their mind for the rest of their life. Be careful out there, it’s always TRAIN time.

Dear Lord….if a child had been in that seat we’d be reading about a fatallity.
Whoever was driving needs a dose of patience and common sense to NOT stop on railroad tracks. Moving trains require a LOT of distance to stop and this truck is like hitting a gnat.
Wonder if vehicle insurance has to pay when the loss is so obviously an operator error?

I am waiting for this to happen at the crossing on Old Chemstrand Rd by Palafox. Almost every day at 5:00 when people are leaving the plant, people end up parking on the track while waiting for the light to change. This is a common occurrence. Part of the problem is the short distance between Palafox and Hwy 29 and the traffic signals timing. The other part of the problem is people are too impatient to wait for the traffic ahead of them to move out of the way.
