My latest FPL bill was $49.00 higher than August of 2024. I retain ALL of my bills for years in order to campare rate increases. FPL energy and fuel charges are a great deal higher than the former Gulf Power bills. The temperatures within August of 2024 were nearly identical to August of 2025 (as I keep extensive records of this also) and yet, my bills continue to rise. We are being trained to keep our AC thermostat higher in the summer and use less electricity IMHO.

Funny when we had Gulf Power; even in August my electric bills were never this much
Our bill has literally doubled and when comparing to last year and the years before using the same amount or even less KW we are paying so much more now then we did with Gulf Power. Absolutely rediculous

FPL is a monopoly. Over 50 million dollars for one family every year is too much. I can go fire up an electric company in Florida do to EPA laws. So it's a monopoly at this point.

I hate FPL as much as thr next person, but for those complaints about bills being 2 or 3x higher lately... it's called summer. Your ac runs nonstop during August, so of course your bill is higher. It's simple math. Do what the rest of us do, conserve electricity now so you dont have to complaint later.

It's as silly as saying the amount you spent on gas tripled, when you drove 3x more miles than normal. Of course it's higher.

Well, at least Florida does allow net metering, which means if you have solar panels you can sell power back to FPL for the full retail price.

In Alabama all we get is a paltry .04 per kWh so it's not worth it here.

FPL at it again. FPL increased the base rate they charge on the February 2025 billing by $.05 /month. Talk about nickel & dimeing you to death. Didn’t see a notice on that either. FPL has over 6 million customers & at $.05 per customer thats an additional income they make beside being the largest utilities in the US. Armando Pimentel, CEO of FPL makes over $10 million in compensation of which $1million is in salary. It’s all for the stockholders too. Where is the stability in this?

Of course they want to increase it just because they can. Of course, they didn't get their first request. They knew exactly how much they could get away with increasing. That's why they went in with a high number, then agreed when it was lowered to the number they actually wanted. That's the way big companies work.
